This was essentially highway robbery. I tried at the USC APM Lunar New Year event and there was really not other food options and my toddler was hungry. $18 for 6 dumplings is absolutely diabolical! They were very average dumplings with thick skins and very oily from the pan fry. The filling was not special and filled with only meat. Real ones know you need either Napa cabbage or celery to give it freshness. Unfortunately, I had no choice but would not have eaten here. If you have other choices, go there. I had to order 4 dishes for my family $82 total --Ruined my day and I felt like I got robbed clean. read more

As someone of Taiwanese descent who makes a mean homemade dumpling, it's hard to find DUMPLING that holds up to my standards, and I even get disappointed with cult favorites like Din Tai Fung and Paradise Dynasty. I first tried Dina's Dumplings a few years ago when they used to have their food truck pop ups at UCLA, and even up til the last time I had their food (last week), their quality is extremely consistent and high. Their dumplings might not look the most meticulously wrapped, but the unpretentious homemade-style wrapper and high quality, protein-packed fillings (which never have bones, tendon, fat, or shells mind you) definitely do not disappoint. My favorites are their shrimp and chicken dumplings, which are so flavorful and juicy, as well as their noodles, which are a solid chow mien/pan fried noodle option. My only gripe is that for their prices, the portion sizes are quite small, but it's a price I'm willing to pay for their amazing quality. I tried their food because I was at an event and the choices were few. Im glad I did, because under MY normal circumstances, I would not have. Grabbed some dinner here while they were parked at the Huntington Library for their Halloween event. Ordered their chicken dumplings and their five spice noodles. The chicken dumplings came with 6 dumplings and were delicious. Disappointed they didn't have any soup inside, though. No complaints with the five spice noodles - super flavorful and well-sauced. Biggest disappointment was how expensive this truck is. For six dumplings and a plate of noodles to-go, we paid nearly $40. This is probably the most expensive place I have ever bought dumplings and noodles. Overall, the food is delicious, and I would love to eat it again. But that high price point definitely would have me reconsidering my options if I want to pay that much for two items next time. read more

Overpriced, I got the shrimp dumplings, there's barely any shrimp in them, they're basically pork dumplings, and their wait is ridiculous. They do not know how to manage a line, we were told 30 minutes, we waited 50. Told me I would get a text when my order is ready, never did. And we were over 30 minutes when I asked him the first time if the order was ready, and if I was gonna get a text. They did me one favor, I will never ever tip a place again preemptively even if their stupid little machine asks me too, without knowing what I'm getting into. So I went here during the SFV pride event and they had a food truck there. Honestly i was greatly disappointed. The dumplings were too thick and doughy and for the size of the dumplings, it did not have much meat inside. The other part is for six dumplings up to $17 dollars is outrageous. If the dumplings had more meat it would have been okay. I also had the which I think is called the five spice noodles and that was unappetizing because the flavor was too garlicy and sour. That specific flavor was overpowering everything else about the noodles. I don't remember the specifics of the price of it but I think it is close or around $15. read more

My good friend and I were at the Huntington Library (HL) for their 2022 Chinese Festival celebration this past Saturday 02/05/2022. This was my first time attending such event at HL since I've had its membership on 09/25/2020. Can't believe it will be two years since becoming a member. Time sure flies when we're having fun. =) Anyway, back to this review... there were a lot of people. It was very festive. A handful of food trucks were present. We chose Dina's Dumpling because it was the only one we saw closest to us. The other food trucks were hiding elsewhere LOL. It was my friend's birthday weekend and I wanted to treat her lunch... what a perfect occasion to celebrate my friend's birthday. We ordered the 10 pieces chicken dumpling, 10 pieces vegan dumpling, scallion pancake, 5 spice noodles, 1 coke, 1 hibiscus lemonade, and 2 bottled waters. It was more than enough food for 2 people. =) Dumpling skin was thicker than what I'm used to eating. The chicken filling was okay. I was slightly disappointed with the veggie dumpling though... it lacked flavor. Maybe I should have gotten the shrimp dumpling... I love shrimp! The star of the meal was the scallion pancake... delish... this is a keeper! The noodles weren't bad at all... decent, but not as spicy as I thought it would be. I didn't drink the coke, but hopefully, Coke did it's job LOL. As for the hibiscus lemonade, very refreshing! I didn't care for the Arrowhead water brand, but wanted to make sure we had water with us throughout our visit. At the end of our meal, we ended up having leftovers LOL... 11 dumplings and half noodles. We took down everything else. Staff was pleasant, but the speed of service could have been better. There were 5 or maybe even 6 people behind us and they got their order before we did... I was like... what the heck LOL! I know we ordered a lot of food, but still. They said the vegan dumpling take a little bit longer... I'm like they should have taken lesser time... they're just veggies LOL. Anyway, we waited patiently for our food. We were grateful they were there for the HL guests. Prices were a tad steep, but hey, they brought the food to us so we can't complain too much LOL. They were at Asia Pacific Museum and I tried the scallion pancakes and the shrimp and pork dumplings. The menu wasn't up to date with their prices, so that's why I'm docking a star. The food was good, I liked all of the sauces that came with each dish. The dishes are pretty hearty, so in retrospect I could have just had the 6 dumplings, or the scallion pancakes. After eating both I was stuffed so definitely bring a friend if you're going to do both. read more

Make sure you dip it in the chili oil!! I was highly disappointed in the five spiced noodles because it wasn't as advertised. They have pictures of their food posted on the food truck and it shows the thick squiggly photos (that was taken 2 years ago!!!) but we got regular chow mein noodle and it tasted like Panda Express noodles and I feel jipped. I regret having to leave this review, but I ordered frozen dumplings over a week ago (paid too...I thought they were delicious when I had them at a catered event) but have not been able to receive them, no clear communication on where to pick up. When I went to the address on my contact message, I found an empty truck lot. Honestly I feel that this is super shady business practice and I now feel scammed. My company had a Lunar New Year party and asked Dina's Dumplings to be a part of it. They were such a big hit! One of the most important things was to have vegetarian and vegan options for our employees. WOW did they come through for us. They had quite a few options for us to choose from when planning the menu and we went with a 3-dumpling plate with one side for 150 employees. We ended up picking 2 meat dumplings, one vegan dumpling, and then 2 vegan sides. The two top items that our employees raved about was their vegan five spice noodles and the pork dumplings. That just happens to be what I ended up choosing for myself so I definitely agreed with our employees feedback. Their food was so good and tasted so fresh that it was the perfect compliment to our party. Everyone that was a part of Dina's team was so nice and very professional. I ordered the pork dumplings (6) the first time I came by and I really enjoyed the filling- it was flavorful and there was a big container of chili oil that I added which sent the dish over the top! I came back later with a friend and got the hibiscus lemonade and the noodle dish. The lemonade was so delicious, I could have had another one for sure!! The noodle dish wasn't spicy but was still very flavorful, and I really appreciated being able to add chili oil to my orders. I saw the picture of the thick squiggly noodles on their truck and knew exactly what I wanted to order. When my order came out, it looked absolutely nothing like what they advertised. The noodles were dry, flavorless, and had like 5 tiny pieces of bell peppers or something. I shared it with 4 other people and everyone thought it sucked. I had the pleasure of being a plus 1 to the street cinema yelp perk event and my eyes gravitated to the hard to miss pink truck. I have to admit 1/2 of me only wanted it because the truck was cute and pink, kuddos to whosever idea that was , it worked on me (LOL). Anywhos once I was past the superficial part, their dumpling choices had me wanting more! My eyes immediately fixed them selves on the vegan dumplings, but then my heart was torn I also wanted the shrimp ones. Dilemma.... sure was not! I was able to get 1/2 and 1/2 but only the 10 piece order, but it's ok, to be honest I wouldn't have ordered a measly 7 anyways. I ordered a 10 1/2 and 1/2, which was a very reasonable $10 (without gratuity), given a number and waited. I very much enjoyed these dumplings! The location is very easy to find and you can spot them right away due to the pink colored truck. I tried the beef, pork, and vegan because they had a rainbow assortment special. 4 each for 12 dollars. If you only want one flavor then you can get 6 for 7 dollars or 10 for 10 dollars. The white one is pork, the red is beef, and the green is vegan. I love the special colors. It comes with two sauces. I believe based on which one you get you get different kinds of sauces. So either you get a peanut based sauce or a soy sauce. You can also get a chili sauce on the side. The pork and beef ones were very juicy, so be careful when you're eating it or else you'll get it all over the place. The vegan one is full of crunchy, yummy veggies, and as a person who loves meat, it was definitely still tasty. I've had Dina's dumplings about 3x times now, but the last time was no good. We were at Pasadena Art Night and the truck was the busiest I'd ever seen it. Still not an excuse to compensate on quality. I got vegan dumplings. I'm extremely picky with meat and eat it once per week at most (thank goodness I'm not vegan or this would've been a larger issue). 1st dumpling, delicious. 2nd dumpling, unwanted rubbery substance. Looked like a large piece of pulled pork or chicken, but it was entirely inedible. I was disturbed but continued. 3rd dumpling, another unwanted rubbery item in my dumpling. This time, looked like dark meat, but still, inedible. I returned the dumplings to the truck and they first denied it before realizing it was meat. If the meat was edible I would've been fine with it. But it was very disturbing and still unknown what that was. They refunded me, but I'm not happy because I won't be able to eat here again for a while. read more

I am not that impressed with Dina's Dumplings. I rarely give negative reviews but after 2 seperate visits I feel that the dumplings are mediocre and overcooked on the bottom. Dina tries to aim for an 'artistic' spin on dumplings but the end-result is unappealing, despite dumplings in general being one of my favorite foods. Dina's other menu items, like the noodles and drinks, are also substandard and bland. For better dumplings in the Pasadena area, Mason's in the Kitchen United Mix is a superior choice. For better 'artistic' dumplings, Ms Chi in Culver City is a superior choice. read more

Bright pink dumpling food truck! Count me in! Dina's dumplings serves up wonderful dumplings with generous meat and nicely fried skins. It was a nice touch for different meats they come in different color skins. I tried the beef and pork, both were juicy and delicious! My friends raved about the vegan dumplings! PS, they have chili sauce and black vinegar - jar fulls for guests to load up on! The one downside is that these dumplings are on the pricier end, but pretty standard for LA.
