My backyard was a mess and needed to be graded with topsoil and seeded. I removed all existing grass, weeds, roots and turned over the soil leveling and grading it as best I could myself. Thinking I was going to buy topsoil, seed and complete the rectangular 24'x42' area in my lower yard, I decided to get an estimate. Never previously having to hire a landscaper for any work, I just got 2 estimates. September was ending and I needed this done as soon to establish this lawn. I went with Dinardi Landscaping because Anthony said he would do it the next week as soon as I sign the proposal and pay 50% to be on their calendar. Doing that and knowing weather conditions may be an issue, I called them several times to get an approximate date. They gave me a date and I called the night before to confirm, but was told it would the following date of Friday, Oct. 9th. This was 15 days since I signed the proposal. My disappointment was with the work that they did as far as grading that rectangular area that I personally prepped for them. Maybe because it was a Friday, but the workers were not fully engaged in doing the work. They took a lot of extended breaks and every time I looked out the window very little progress was being done. When Anthony stopped by during their lunch break I mentioned that progress seemed to be going slowly. As it started to near the end of their work day they seemed to be more motivated but did a hurry up botched up job. The grading (leveling) was terrible like craters on the moon. They never picked up a rake to level it out and did not break up the large clumps of top soil that they just randomly shoveled around. They immediately started covering the cratered surface with grass seed and then with mulch seed accelerator. Anthony mentioned that he would stop by at the end of the day to check on the work that was done that day. That never happened. The frustration of paying some one to do a simple landscape job after preparing and doing most of the work yourself, and find that you have to go outside and spend 2 1/2 hours redoing the grading (leveling) after the seed and mulch was already applied. I didn't get paid to do their job for which I paid Dinardi Landscaping. On Monday morning Oct. 12th I called Anthony and left a message about the lousy job that they did and for him to call me. Within a half hour I received his call and all he said is that "I'll have to have a talk with the guys". No apology, no mention of discount or reimbursement on cost of work that was done. I would never use them or recommend Dinardi Landscaping to anyone. I'm sorry I didn't do it myself. read more

We recently purchased a new home and wanted to get a professional spring cleaning done of our front lawn/backyard to get ready for the spring and summer seasons. Because we had just moved in at the end of Winter, there was a lot of debris that must have accumulated in the yard due to the numerous amounts of snow piled up from this past winter season. We sought out quotes from multiple landscape companies which advertised the same amount of work. Dinardi was definitely one of the more expensive companies to provide a quote, but we decided to choose them given the positive interactions when we called to discuss what would be done. Given that they came out to assess the work to be done, we had an understanding of what "debris" was and what would be cleaned up. Multiple times, I asked if the debris would be collected from the yard, and each time the answer I received was "yes." Being the educated person that I am, I looked up the exact definition of "debris" and found this on the Mirriam-Webster Dictionary site: "the remains of something broken down or destroyed; an accumulation of fragments of rock; something discarded : rubbish". So of course, I expected the accumulation of fragmented rocks to be collected, as well as the broken glass to be discarded which is considered "rubbish- useless waste or rejected matter : trash". Unfortunately, that is not what happened. There were A LOT of fragments of rocks as well as broken pieces of glass remaining in our yard. When I called to discuss why these items weren't picked up, the answer I received was, "We do not collect those items", yet the contract we signed CLEARLY stated that debris would be collected. It's a shame to say that they were unwilling to compensate for the lack of work the contract stated given that they had already been paid. PLEASE do yourself a favor and go with a cheaper company for your landscaping/spring cleaning work. And if you do choose to go with Dinardi, ask them to put in WRITING what their definition of debris is. It's so disappointing to think that spending more might get you more, but in this case, it was the opposite. read more

Dinardi came by with my lawn in shambles, gave me a fantastic chemical program with seed and heat treated hay. Later I asked for a planting and was given a fair price and a fantastic design. I'm all around ecstatic with everything, I have the lawn and planting of my dreams. I highly recommend them to anyone in the Bergen county area! read more

My experience with DiNardi Landscaping was short-lived an extremely painful. While their services didn't seem to be outrageously over-priced they are very much like the Verizon's and Comcast's of the world that we struggle to get rid of. They offer a service package with $ dollar amounts that you cannot negotiate no matter the size of property. My wife and I signed up for Spring Cleanup, treatments for all of the seasons, and tree trimming. As far as the spring cleanup we could not tell the difference between the before and after (granted we were a little late in the season). Next comes the Tree Trimming. What a nightmare. We have roughly 40 green arborvitaes throughout our property and 2-3 small bushes. The contract clearly stated tree trimming and pruning. The cost was $495 which will were willing to pay since we have such a large number of trees. Over the winter 4 of our arborvitaes in the backyard experienced winter burn and need a little more trimming and pruning than the others. The crew came to our residence and simply trimmed and pruned the 4 damaged trees and 2 bushes and we still received a bill for $495. After inspecting the work we quickly came to realize that they mutilated the 4 trees. Not only did they trim but completely remove 3-4 trunks from each tree right at the base. We will be extremely lucky if they can make a recovery. When we informed the owner that only 4 trees and 2 bushes were cut he came to see the work done. He apologized and said he would resend his team. After careful consideration we decided against this and said we would not pay $495. He came back and said the new revise charge would be $250!!! How can you justify charging $250 which is half of the original estimate for 4 tress and 2 bushes. When I asked for an explanation he said that it was the minimum for sending out a crew to do the trimming. The total job took no more than 30 minutes. When we said we no longer needed his services they simply said they were sad to see us go and sorry we couldn't come to an agreement. We should expect our last bill in the mail. By far one of the worst customer experiences I have had. To me this says they are simply happy with the business they have and don't value new customers. I will never recommend them to anyone. read more

Because Dinardi did well with its cleanup services that we asked for in my previous review, my wife and I gave them a larger landscaping job. We requested grass just outside the fence to be turned into mulch, removal unwanted plants to make room for grass, add mulch to a bunch of places, add some river rocks to cover some bare dirt patches, rearrange an existing landscape that was badly done, and plant grass seeds on newly exposed dirt patches. Sal Dinardi, the owner, personally visited our residence and talked to my wife about our lawn needs. Two days later, Dinardi's office came back with a reasonable quote. They asked for a 50% deposit, and they didn't cash our deposit check until they started work. Unfortunately, Dinardi ran into scheduling issues, so it took about a month for them to schedule our job. Both the office and Sal apologized for the delay, but once Sal was ready, he brought his foreman the day before the job to go over the work. My wife was present to confirm everything in the contract and to request some extra work, to which Sal gave us a very big discount due to the scheduling delay. His foreman and crew came the next day and for the next two days, they worked on the job. The crew worked from 10am-6pm the first day removing a bunch of ugly plants in the landscape, rearranging the remaining landscape, and ripping out the grass outside the fence perimeter. On the second day, the crew worked on river rocks, adding mulching, moving rocks, and grass seeding. They brought in industrial tools and trucks to bring supplies and remove most of the junk plants and grass. Sal came by the next day to review the work to make sure his crew did everything that was asked for in the contract. Dinardi did a fantastic job on our landscape request, and the yard is a lot more presentable now. We will be using Dinardi in the future for other landscape or maintenance jobs. read more

Do yourselves a favor and get a few prices. I was a customer for years and Dinardi this year arbitrarily changes the day of the week he landscapes at my house. I called to ask why and was basically told too bad. They are a bit pricey to begin with but I stayed out of loyalty. I was paying $35 a week for about 8 minutes worth of work, which was fine but the spring cleanup which took about 16 minutes cost $300. Any given day there are dozens of landscaping trucks driving down the street. Flag one down. They all undercut each other. I will say that the girls in the office are pleasant and the crew generally do ok work. The owner however needs to realize that grass cutting isn't brain surgery and there's a tremendous amount of competition. He could've been more apologetic, I probably wouldn't have stayed but I would've understood the circumstances if they were legit. He should value his customers a little better. This is my 1st review, I've never complained about anyone. This should tell you something. read more

never had any problems with them, boss is polite and knowledgeable. any questions I ever have I usually just call the office, and if the women who work in the office can't answer the question Anthony, the manager, or sal the owner will personally call me as soon as possible with an answer and a solution. I've been with dinardi since april of 2013 and I couldn't ask for a better landscaping company, the guys who cut my lawn make sure everything is in perfect shape (weeds in beds are tended to, no scuff marks from the mowers, edging is properly done, and all debris is picked up or blown away) as well as the fertilizing, they turned my lawn around from nothing into something better than I could have ever expected. I would highly recommend giving them a call and just asking for an estimate. read more
