The best Chiropractor in the area! I went to Dr. Matt a couple years ago for lower back pain after too much yard work. He solved the pain over a few sessions and offered exercises and ways to improve my posture and avoid future injury. He always takes time to listen, explain, and perform excellent adjustments. It has helped so much that I am getting adjustments regularly now. His office manager Mandy handles all of the insurance claims/scheduling and really works to make it an easy and pleasurable experience. I have been to 3 chiropractors or more in my life. They have always been so kind and nice. I don't know if this doctor is good or not. What I do know is that his customer service and people skills suck! I met him yesterday for the first time. When he came into the office to greet me he didn't even look at me in the face. Didn't try to break the ice, nothing. He just kept looking at my chart with a "puzzled" look. He then started asking questions and questioning my answers, like he didn't believe I was in so much pain. I even told him: "what are the looks for Doc?" and he said: "well, you don't seem like you are in pain". And I am thinking how does he know what I feel or don't! So I told him I have had it for so long I just learned to live with it. I told him he would probably get a better picture once he saw my X-rays. After making more sarcastic (not direct) comments he finally takes my X-rays and he comes out and says, "oh definitively I can't help you". He then starts explaining stuff in very difficult terms. I'm not sure if it is because I am Hispanic that I didn't understand the terms or just because they were doctor terms. So I say: "Can I ask you a question?" And His answer was: "you can, but is not gonna change the difference, I can't do anything for you". And I thought: this guy just found out something he says I have that is terrible. A good doctor would be worrying about how to explain it to me so I understand and I can then make a decision of what doctor to see next. But No, he did not give a rats about my feelings, he just cared about washing his hands and explaining it was bad and he couldn't do anything. He wouldn't even let me ask a question. I said: you know what that's fine I will just go have someone else explain this to me. He then charged me $150. One hundred and fifty dollars to take two pictures and not answer my questions!!!! GREAT!!!!! His wife which is really nice and had answered all my questions on the phone and outside tried to get me to stay but at this point I was furious. This guy has no people skills, and does not deserved a minute more of my precious time. Karma Doctor is a XXXX trust me, this will bite you or your family back whenever you least expect it Thanks for being the worst people skills doctor I have ever met. PS Stop prejudging people by looking at their chart. Listen more and talk less. God gave you 2 ears and one mouth try listening more and talking less it works wonders! read more

The most bizarre and grossly unprofessional interaction I have ever had with a health professional - I decided to visit Dr. Matt because of his pretty good online reviews, the methods in which he practiced and proximity to my home. Though I have a complex history due to surgeries and car accidents, this visit was simply based on a recent gym injury and so looked forward to my visit to obtain some relief. Instead I wasted my time and left confused and in more pain due to the stress of such a weird experience. While filling out paper work, I could hear Dr. Matt angrily arguing with his staff about the billing (due to a recent car accident which apparently made my case more complex) and I could hear him crudely cursing (including "STFU" and "I don't do these on Fridays!"). This happened twice at which time I should have followed my instincts and left. After seemingly coming to an understanding that I was not concerned about filing an accident claim, he agreed to see me. Following a perfunctory introduction he became rude - he was incredibly tense and was doing a miserable job of attempting to have any sort of proper bedside manner. He complained that due to my complex history he needed a lot more of my background information including x-rays. It was a completely fair point, and I would have been fine with a statement along the lines of "I'm sorry, I'd like to help you but I need more information and your records to properly care for you today. I would not be serving you to adjust you today without being fully informed." Instead, it became an attack and he kept emphasizing my (!) poor communication for not explaining to his staff my medical history. He kept angrily repeating himself along these lines and I became more and more uncomfortable. I almost left at that point, but I am in so much pain I figured I'd stick out one visit and never come back. After venting his spleen further he said he would proceed to treat me because I was in pain and because "he was human" but in the same breath he stated that "I don't think this is going to be a good fit" - always an encouraging way to begin a relationship with a patient. It was at that moment the atmosphere became so incredibly uncomfortable and unprofessional that I sat up and said I didn't think so either, and before I could stand up he had already stormed out of the room without another word. My back and neck might still need adjustment, but clearly so does Dr. Matt's temperament. I would never recommend this practice to anyone. read more

I've been going to Dr Matt for over two years now. It's been a great experience. The office is small and basic but it gets the job done. I started going to a chiropractor in San Diego after a car accident. Loved my SD chiro but when I moved to Virginia I needed a switch. It was my San Diego chiro who found Dr. Matt for me. He contacted several others pretending to be a patient, not revealing he was a dr himself. After a few phone interviews he selected Dr. Matt. It's been a great experience. The front desk is friendly always eager to help. Scheduling and rescheduling appointments is very easy. Family owned and run business with a personal touch. His style of chiropractic is basic and effective. No wierd machines or massages. He focuses on what he was trained to do and does best--realigns your spine. I always walk out with much less back/neck/whatever-else-is-bothering-me pain. Walk-ins accepted so if I have an problem in between my monthly sessions, I just walk in or call the day of. I'm not even sure where to begin to share my experience. This is my first time ever using Yelp for a negative review. I can only hope my experience helps someone else so that they never have to be treated in the manner I was treated. I was a client for over a year and after today never again. No doctor should treat their patients in any other way than to say "I'm glad you're here, you are always welcome here, I know you are trying, just by coming through my door". Unfortunately, I was greeted with judgements and accusations that I wasn't respecting his recommendations. When I explained his recommendations were a financial hardship for me I was told I could no longer be helped. Similar to the women's previous review, I too was met with contempt and judgement to a level no one should experience. He was right not to charge me for today's horrific experience because no one should pay for his anger, his lack of empathy, and his inability to understand other people's situations. His office is packed, my patronage will not be missed, I can only believe that one day Dr.Matt takes to heart the impact his words have and it's not always what you say it's how you say it! Dr. Matt Dilorenzo is an excellent chiropractor. I had never been to one, nor did I have much faith in them. I went to see Dr. Matt as my roommate sees him and I was having some lower back discomfort. He is professional, insightful, and intelligent beyond any physician I have ever consulted. Dr. Matt is wonderful! My husband and I are in our late 60's and have been going to Dr. Matt to keep us fit. We lift bales of hay, muck horse stalls, and carry 50 pound bags of feed. I broke a bone in my lower back 20 years ago and used to experience pain and stiffness, a result I thought was normal due to age and my broken L2 vertebra. Now I rarely experience any pain or stiffness and my husband walks tall thanks to our maintenance schedule with Dr. Matt. Mandy is always cheerful and patient. I own a plumbing business. As a plumberI find myself in many an uncomfortable and contorted positions. Over the years I have pulled and wrenched my back, worked through the pain and got on w/ business. 3 months ago while helping someone move a large old TV down some stairs I felt and heard a POP in my lower back, so strong that my toes tingled for a bit. 15 minutes later I couldn't move without real pain. ! week and many Motrins later I was getting back to normal. 2 weeks ago I was feeling a bit of uncomfortable tightness in the lower back as is the history I have with back pain (it never really goes away it just becomes more tolerable with time). I bent down to pick something up and pop there it went again, pain for three days. I didn't do anything but bend over!!! One of my customers referred me to Dr. Matt and I am so glad he did. I have been to see him 5 or 6 times now and from day 1 I have been feeling better than I have in years. I can even play light sabre sword fighting with my 9 year old son without worrying about twisting and turning. Oh and Mandy, the receptionist/ scheduler/ traffic controller in the office is truly an asset to the firm.
