I took in the papers for a return for a Family Trust and even gave them a copy of the previous year return and they screwed it up to the point of instead of no taxes due (as the previous 3 years), they calculated that we owed over $29K!!! They even screwed up the accompanying documents after I explained it to them! Oh, and let me not forget that when I arrived, I was told there would be a "tiny" wait...after 30 minutes I asked how much longer and was told to return in an hour! Really? They couldn't have told me that upon arrival? There's 30 minutes of my life I will never get back. While I was waiting, a woman was complaining that she had NOT been told that there was a $50 fee for having her check mailed and not direct deposited. Her complaint included the lack of clearly spoken English. The apparent manager did refund the woman her money but I feel like that may have been because so many people were waiting and overheard her. Said manager did apologize to me for the wait and I did accept his apology, however; the lack of professionalism, knowledge and common courtesy is inexcusable! Again, if you have any issues or anything out of the norm on your return, this is NOT the place to go!!

I usually do my taxes on my own paying next to nothing on TurboTax but this year I decided I would…read moretake advantage of the H&R Block advance refund... before I went I called to ask about how the advance credit works and how much they would charge to file my taxes. Informed them that I am a single mom. Reporting with only one W2 and would file for EIC and Child Tax credits... they quoted me just over $100.00 I decided it was worth it to get the advanced refund (which basically means they will advance your refund at 0% interest then they are paid back automatically through the IRS refund... when I showed up I gave them all the needed information and after the worker struggles with the system inputting the information I was informed that they would be charging me close to $350.00 instead of the $100.00... at this point I start asking how much I will get on the advance refund and when I will receive it... I am told to keep electronically signing documents and at the end they can see how much refund will be advanced to me... I should have listened to my gut on this and just walked out but I kept going... as he continued to rush me through all the electronic signatures I get to the final signature to submit the tax filing... again I stop him and say how much of the refund will be advanced to me and when will I receive it... he calls over a coworker and explains my concerns... she assures me that I will receive X amount within 12 to 24 hours.... at no point am I told it's contingent upon banks approval or anything of the sort... I decide it's worth the cost to receive the advancement... I sign the final document get the workers information in which he said if I have any problems to call him... and I leave the office... a few hours later I receive an email stating that my "loan" has been denied... I call H&R Block and I complain. Explaining that I am not going to pay them nearly $350.00 to receive a refund in the same time frame that I would have received had I filed on my own for less than a quarter of that amount. I was basically told too bad I should have read the documents and my return was already submitted.! Which is also not the case because I received an email stating that they would let me know when my returns have been transmitted to the IRS and I have yet to receive that notification! Moral of the story H&R Block sucks! They lie! They overcharge ! And they don't know the first thing about customer service! I would not recommend anyone use their services! TurboTax is much easier and a whole lot cheaper!!!
