While traveling I don't like to feel like I've gotten off on an exit straight into the twilight zone. So, this was bookmarked for me on my I-70 road trip so I'd know (hopefully) where clean bathrooms could be found. This gas station looks a bit dumpy from the exterior and I almost bailed on it. But we gave it a shot. The bathrooms are clean and perfectly serviceable. Cleanest ever? Homey? No. Just a typical utilitarian gas station bathroom, which was thankfully clean and stocked with TP, soap and paper towels. The convenience store offered a cheap fountain drink special which was nice; I needed something to perk me up. The lady at the counter was friendly. Hardly anyone else was there so getting gas and checking out was quick and easy. Selection at small convenience store very basic. Bottom line- if all u want is gas and a clean pit stop, come on by. But don't go out of your way if you need more options or expect more than the basics.

I was headed toward Milford Kansas, which is kind of a deserted little town and there are no gas stations there but this gas station was right before I headed towards Milford. So the location was perfect it sits on the corner of Highway 177. The sign has no damage to it you can clearly see that you are at the right gas station the parking lot is clean free of debris parking is ample they only have 3 gas pumps and one of the gas pumps is weirdly behind the building. When you walk inside shelves are fully stocked a lady was sweeping and cleaning the floors and considering that the gas station is surrounded by gravel it is understandable that you have to sweep those floors consistently with customers bringing in gravel when they walk through the doors. The staff were very nice and friendly and the bathroom was clean. It's a nice little convenient place to stop when there's really nothing else between Junction City and Milford.

Of course it had to be in an odd location with none of of usual stops anywhere nearby so we stopped at the first stop we found. Now, Handy's does not look like it's going to be a winner from the outside and I think this is doing them a disservice. First of all the obviously have an excellent name, and secondly, it's a pretty solid little highway rest stop. It didn't have the biggest selection of items, or was the most updated, but it was clean, and sometimes a clean restroom along the highway is all you really need.

I can't express how funny this is to me, and how it charmed to no end. Let me set the stage. I arrived here because my four year old really needed a toilet break on our drive to central Kansas and this was the next one on our route. When I checked in I was really surprised to see the great reviews, as in my experience, even the best of travel stops have really mixed reviews based on all kinds of experiences. That being said, we made a beeline for the restroom. Once inside I was surprised to find a really fancy bidet attached to the toilet, along with detailed instructions on how to use it pasted to the wall. My daughter was very confused but used the toilet anyways, despite it being set to a warmed seat setting (which also made me laugh) "why is it so hot?" was a question she asked me. At any rate, once she was done in the restroom we explored the rest of the travel center and it's pretty basic except for the fact that they also sell the bidets and have a display for them in the middle of the store, which also I found to be entertaining. Overall, would I return? Yes. It's a unique and clean stop in Kansas and honestly worth it if just for experiencing something different.

After a long day I only stopped for one item. Kristy made sure that I left with what I wanted. I rarely stop at this particular convenience store but I am so happy I did tonight. It's too bad companies don't give their outstanding employees a bonus or a gift card or a raise or something when they provide exceptional service. Bring your own quarter to check out a shopping cart. Be sure to bring your own bags as well, however there are bags available for purchase at the checkout aisle. You'll be bagging your own groceries. My only true complaint is the lack of selection. You can't be picky with brands here, because you basically get one option/product to choose from. I love coming here when building charcuterie boards, because the meats and cheeses are so cheap! Produce is good, however items like the bananas and watermelon that we've had in the past didn't really ripe and had little flavor.
