What a find in the Vancouver Mall! Not much experienced in Ukranian food but we really liked them!…read more PARKING: Mall parking! No offense to the mall but there was a ton of parking in the late evening. To get to the food court faster, park by the area where the AMC entrance is and the food court is just upstairs. AMBIANCE: It's a mall food court! What else can I say? The restaurant itself is tucked away in the back corner so be sure not to miss it! SERVICE: The workers have always been so friendly. They're patient when we have questions and are always so helpful. I'm assuming they're the owners as well and they really are so proud of their food. FOOD: - Varenyky: Essentially an Ukranian dumpling stuffed with potato and cheese with caramelized onions on top and sides of sour cream and cabbage salad. Now the dumpling itself is not a flavour punch but I don't think it's supposed to be. It was cooked well, the dough was not tough or rubbery and mixing it together with the sides it's like comfort in your mouth. - Hot Dog: This is my personal favourite. I believe it's a pork-based sausage that's topped with their delicious creamy house sauce and topped with pickles carrots and their slaw and it's a pretty decent size and a delicious meal. Comes with chips too. - Borscht: YUM. Chunks of beets and it's the that sweet and slightly sour taste. Dip their bread in it. Trust. OVERALL: Such a random find in the mall! And it tastes NOT like mall food. I've never had Ukranian food before, but I feel like this was a great introduction. The staff are so friendly and I am happy to support them because the food was very good.

Banderyky is a Ukrainian restaurant in the Vancouver Mall and the food is so exceptional. This time I had the feta and cheese pastry, the cherry pastry, and this delicious unique soft marshmallow dessert flavored with fruit. Strawberry and blueberry. I wish I had a bigger appetite because I would just order every single thing on the menu if I could. I have to admit I'm not really a beet fan but I love the borscht here. And the cabbage and the chicken dumplings. Truly delicious and well priced too!

Parking was easy but if it gets busy there's limited formal parking spots. I had a hard time deciding (everything sounded so good!) so I asked for recommendations. The gal mentioned the most common met and vegetarian dishes--for the meat, she recommended chicken dumplings and for vegetarians the cheese pierogis. I was quoted a 10 min wait time so I would expect a longer wait time if there was actually a line. I'm more used to Asian variations of these types of dumplings. It came with a container of sour cream and it added a layer of hearty deliciousness I wasn't used to but was a rich treat. It was a fabulous comfort lunch on a chilly rainy day. I'll happily come back with some coworkers the next time I'm on that side of town!

They were both very dry and flavorless with only carrot and cabbage filling. Barely any sauce and no flavor. Hard to eat due to being so dry very bland to the taste. Please add more flavor to your meats and add maybe some marinated veggies , tomato's and definitely add much more flavors sauces. Look forward to trying a more flavorful shawarma next time!!!

My birthday celebrant nephew and I ordered a Czech bottled beer that was refreshing and a true pilsner. Our niece enjoyed a real Georgian peach soda. For appetizers, the classic cheese/egg yolk bread offering was amazing! Main courses included two roast pork plates, spectacular salmon, and, my favorite, grilled lamb. Desserts ran the gamut... All were splendid! Ours was a repeat visit to Dediko, and we will return to enjoy the fabulous food, considerate service, and ambiance that, "Back in the day," still reflects the vibe from Bill Marshall Ford's architecture. Best wishes for continued success! Sincerely, Andy & Donna Gregg.

Pear lemonade soda: kinda like Italian cream soda, but somehow better. Satsivi (chicken in Walnut sauce): I've never tasted anything quite like it, chicken was tender, and the spices were unique; fantastic. Khinkali (meat dumplings): large soup/meat dumplings, chewy, and the meat tasted like a warm hug from grandma! Adjaruli Khatchapuri: so rich and the cheese is salty similar to Akkawi cheese. Mtsvadi (Lamb): best grilled Lamb I've ever had, and I consider myself a Lamb expert! And for the dessert; the Honey Cake will haunt my dreams. I'm not a big dessert lover, and I loved this. A shortbread cake, with perfect texture that's not too sweet. Can't recommend this place highly enough. I will be returning many times!

We had a 5:15 seating and it only got busier and busier as the evening went on, which was really humming all night. I particularly love the happy hour menu because it lets you try a broader range of dishes at a fraction of the usual price. We decided to skip the mains and just order a bunch of cold and hot zakuskis, though I definitely had my eye on the Golubsti for a future visit. Everything we tried was fantastic and felt like a real journey through post-Soviet cuisine, specifically via Belarus if I'm remembering correctly. The tangy assortment of pickled vegetables was a great start, followed by the ultra-salty (in the best way) and sumptuous caviar on toast. The savoriness of the meat dumplings was a great yin to the yang of the richness and creaminess of the farmer's cheese dumplings, and the cod liver on rye was beautifully balanced by a snowfall of fresh horseradish on top. The standout, though, was the Herring 'Under a Fur Coat', which the menu describes as a Russian 7-layer dip and which was absolutely spectacular, airy, and light in a way I was not expecting when they first set the dish down in front of me. Our server was warm, attentive, and always happy to jump in with recommendations, which made the whole experience even better. The space itself was full of energy, and the shop upstairs is also a fun bonus, with everything from the same dumplings they serve in the restaurant, but frozen, to a wide selection of wines and liquors. Overall a fantastic meal overall and already looking forward to exploring the rest of the menu!

The servers were pleasant and helpful. The food... it was hit or miss a little. There are only 3-4 main dishes, the rabbit was very good, but the cabbage rolls were just average. The potato pancakes served with the rabbit were prepared well, but had no complimentary sauce or flavor. The dumplings were tasty, the smoked fish snack app were good, but the rye bread was just okay. The lavash pocket was good, better with the dipping sauce. Everything is interesting and enjoyable to at least try once. Then you can decide on return trips.

You can also order dessert dumplings filled with a sweet cheese mixture and topped with sweetened sour cream and strawberry jam. (The pic on the website shows fresh strawberries chocolate sauce). I wanted to try more than one kind of dumpling and asked if I could have a mixed order. I got potato and then asked the woman in the cart if beef or chicken was better. She recommended chicken as it's more authentic. I enjoyed them very much. I also wanted to try the dessert dumplings. I had to order a large serving, just to try them. It doubled the cost of my lunch, which totaled $30 with tax. That was way too much for one person for lunch! For me to return I would encourage the following: 1. Hire more help. My food took close to half an hour, because only one person was covering the lunch rush on a sunny warm day. (I was on my lunch break. Lunch at a food truck should be quick. 2. Offer a half order of the dessert dumplings. 3. Improve the website. There are nice pictures but no prices. You have to choose pickup or delivery to view the actual menu.
