We've been seeing Dr. Diller for a few years now as a family, particularly in getting care for my younger child. As part of Dr. Diller's practice, he treats the family as a whole unit, so as to better support the primary patient. Dr. Diller observed my family dynamics and worked with my family on improving communication, coaching both my husband and me through establishing better boundaries for our family. This has been extremely helpful for not only our younger child, but also for our older one. Dr. Diller has also made himself available to his patients for urgent assistance, especially when issues have arisen at school. Dr. Diller is very direct and honest in his evaluation and recommendations. I appreciate that he gives a clear, concise plan and explains the "why" behind it. He also frequently checks in to see how the plan has been going. With Dr. Diller's guidance, my family has seen definitely a good change, both at school and home for our children. I would recommend Dr Diller to others looking for behavioral help from an experienced behavioral developmental pediatrician. read more

Our family has worked with Dr. Diller for over 14 years, and his impact on my child--and on our family system as a whole--has been profound. As a single mother, I especially valued how inclusive and supportive he has been. He took the time to meet not only with me and my son, but also with my son's grandparents, aunt and uncle, and two cousins, all of whom are highly involved in our family community. That level of engagement demonstrated his understanding that children do not grow in isolation and that effective care often involves the larger support network. My son was first seen by Dr. Diller at a very early age for ADHD, after experiencing significant difficulty remaining placed in multiple preschool settings. From the beginning, Dr. Diller approached these challenges with clarity, experience, and balance. He was instrumental in helping me develop strong, effective behavior-based parenting strategies, particularly in navigating my son's strong personality. Those strategies dramatically improved structure, consistency, and overall behavior at home and in school, laying an essential foundation for long-term success. Dr. Diller has an exceptional ability to understand when a diagnosis is helpful in guiding care versus when it can become a hindrance to a child's growth or self-image. That discernment alone sets him apart. He is thoughtful and conservative when it comes to prescribing medication, carefully avoiding unnecessary medications and always weighing benefits, risks, and long-term outcomes. When medication is appropriate, refills are handled promptly and professionally, and he operates very much "by the book," which inspires confidence and trust. Dr. Diller has a strong personality and commands respect in the room. When my son was younger, this could occasionally be challenging during sessions--but over time, it became one of his greatest strengths. That presence helped establish boundaries, accountability, and a sense of seriousness that my child ultimately responded to and benefited from. He also has a rare gift for explaining complex concepts from the child's point of view, breaking things down in ways that were understandable, relatable, and non-patronizing. Sessions were never just about sitting and talking. Many sessions included board games during the second half, allowing therapeutic conversations to naturally weave in without my son disengaging or becoming bored. This approach was incredibly effective and respectful of how children actually engage. Between sessions, Dr. Diller's communication has always been clear, effective, and easy. It has never felt difficult to raise concerns, ask questions, or discuss next steps. Above all, it is evident that he has the best intentions for his patient care--grounded in professionalism, experience, and genuine concern for long-term outcomes. We are deeply grateful for the years of guidance, structure, and thoughtful care Dr. Diller has provided. He has made a lasting and meaningful difference in our family's life. read more

Dr. Diller was recommended to us after we didn't have success at a previous counseling practice, and we're happy we found him. Before even discussing medication, he focused on getting my husband and I on the same page with discipline and parenting strategies. That alone has made a huge difference--not just for our son, but for both of our kids--and has made family time far more enjoyable. Since working with Dr. Diller, our son is doing better both at school and socially. We feel supported, understood, and equipped with practical tools that actually work. I would recommend Dr. Diller to other families. read more

Our 8yo son has been a patient of Dr. Diller's for almost three years. We were referred to him by our pediatrician for an evaluation after behavioral issues resulting in multiple suspensions popped up in kindergarten. Dr. Diller was thorough and honest with us. He didn't just evaluate our son- he evaluated our whole family and helped us with our parenting skills. He offered several books and published reference articles for us to better understand our son's condition. When behavioral modification wasn't enough he assisted us in a therapeutic trial with different doses of medication to find the right dose. He worked directly with the teacher and principal at our son's school since that's where the problems were happening and it felt good to have a medical professional "on our side" in that process. Our son is now thriving in school. He's a model student who has won awards, scores in the 80/90th percentile on standardized tests and continually receives accolades from parents and teachers who work with him. We continue to see Dr. Diller to check in but there have been no issues for 2.5 years. Dr. Diller is always punctual, his office is clean and well maintained and he is very responsive via phone and email. His personality is frank and honest which can be hard to hear but it helped us become better parents for our son and his siblings and created a better family dynamic. I feel a strong mutual respect for him. We are so grateful for his compassionate care (he truly wants these kids to do well) that came when we felt very desperate. read more

Dr. Diller has been a great resource for our family. We highly recommend him. We have seen Dr. Diller in multiple capacities, from helping with our kids when they were younger, to more recent help for one of them, as well as adult help and medication. Dr. Diller is personable, but more importantly, he knows his stuff and has a wealth of experience. Our lives are better off from out time spent with Dr. Diller. read more

We drove an hour with our family just so he could force me to rank my family IN FRONT OF THEM from most to least stubborn. One of the worst moments of my life. He prescribed me medication's that were clear, even from a simple Google search, that they weren't gonna help and were completely irrelevant for what I was going through. It also doesn't make sense to be anti-medication when you're a psychiatrist. Not for me. He doesn't deserve this job. read more

I remember going to his office with my little brother and my mom. This guy was rude, condescending, and a narcissist. For some reason he refused to diagnose me which could have helped a lot in my teenage years. What's also interesting is it seems he didn't want to diagnose other young female children. It's funny because I have other family who was "treated" by this wack job. They think this mf walks on water because he put one of my older male relatives in his book and to be honest I'm wondering if Dr. Dipshit is the reason that my relative treated me like crap and is a pessimistic and unhappy man. I think it's also concerning that all of these reviews either go drastically good or drastically bad. There's nothing in the middle. read more

If you like a complete lack of applicable knowledge and substance paired with a dash of condescending, narcissistic behavior and inappropriate communication in a provider then Dr Diller is the perfect choice for you. Otherwise, run as fast as you can and don't look back. It's absolutely frightening that this person works with children/families because not only does he not know much about neurodevelopmental issues he is also incredibly rude, judgmental, unprofessional and has no empathy. It's outrageous that he even claims to be a (child) psychologist. No, thank you. read more

We have been working with Dr. Diller for more than 20 years now. He has helped us tremendously with our daughter with ASD, as well as our whole family. When people ask me about our experience, I typically say that he is more interested in dealing directly with the issues, than medicating. Of course, he has no problem prescribing medication if needed. I just found it refreshing that his first approach was not to "throw a pill at it"! He is also a wealth of information for support programs in the area. read more

If I could assign zero stars, I would...My family has not been seen by this yahoo for 9 years or more, and this far out you'd think I would have dismissed all of the horrible appointments with this narcissist. So, out of curiosity, I looked up his reviews on a couple sites and honestly wasn't all that surprised to see that MANY others had almost identical and negative experiences. A common thread was that Diller was/is greedy, cold/uncaring, arrogant and egotistical. He gossips, pits family members against one another, randomly assigns blame, usually to parents. He is self-serving with a "GOD Complex", assumptive and boastful. A rude, conceited, boastful, selfish, apathetic jackassessdl read more

Dr.Diller began seeing my family about 15 years ago and though his therapy we have seen extreme progress and change in our family dynamic. I have now been seeing him individually for the last 10 years. He is an incredibly knowledgeable person and has been a vital part of my mental health journey as a young adult. read more

Dr. Diller is the best. He is direct, and a New Yorker, so don't expect him to sugar coat anything. He will call you on your BS. He treats my family - kids and parents. I highly recommend him. My son is gifted and has ADHD (twice exceptional) and by daughter is dyslexic. I have all three. We are a better family with Diller in our lives. read more

Dr. Diller has a laid back attitude in the office, all the while he is working his magic. He has kept our family mentally secure as the trials and tribulations of ADHD has challenged our boys. He has worked with the family as a whole and individually through the years as needs emerged. Thank you for all you have done. read more

Our son started seeing Dr Diller when he was 6 years old, he's now 30 and continues seeing him twice a year. Dr Diller, I feel, saved his life by pulling him out of depression. He is simply the best! read more

Not only was this the worst experience my family has had with a physician, but in my opinion, this is absolutely the worst example of a medical business we've had the misfortune to encounter. My wife originally brought our teenage son to Dr. Diller to assist with some serious issues. It was ambivalence on first sight. But the real horror was in dealing with the administrative staff. In my experience, an entire medical office should project warmth, empathy and respect. And in my encounters with them, they have demonstrated none of this. I highly caution anyone considering this medical practice, based on our family's experience. read more

He misdiagnosed my daughter and it never occurred to him she may have Aspergers. Wrote a book. Put her in it and blamed me, the Mother. This was a while ago. First I've felt the courage to say "Bullshit". Hope he feels good blaming me. The damage he did to me is irreparable. Daughter has no idea. I threw his book away. May God have mercy on your worthless soul. read more

Our family has been seeing Dr. Diller for about 8 years. I love his approach to working with the whole family and not just an individual. We initially focused on our family dynamics and parenting approach. He gave us resources to use in our home as well as communicated with our child's teacher to help implement strategies in the classroom. Only after we addressed some of our issues with communication and parenting styles did we decide to add in the use of medication. Dr. Diller worked with us in finding the right medication and dosage for our child. The changes and progress we have made as a family have been such a blessing! The road is long and sometimes bumpy but we wouldn't be where we are today without the help and guidance of Dr. Diller. read more

At best this man is a quack. HE IS NOT A PSYCHIATRIST! Stay far far away. He has very little mental health training and has successfully marketed himself as a "behavioral pediatrician" which means that he uses obscure billing codes to provide pediatric "therapy." He received training in mental health at an organization that offers "weekend workshops." Most mental health specialists have thousands and thousands of hours of supervised therapy over the course of many many years. It is evident that his training in medicine and in mental health was many years ago. He should just stick to his creative writing as he has made a career out of opinion pieces and publicly tracking the trend of amphetamines to treat ADHD. He succeeded in contributing to even more trauma, drama and mistrust in our blended family. Our teenager started seeing Dr. Diller himself and then with various family members on one side of a blended family. Sometimes he "treated" our teenager by only meeting with one parent. He then met with the other parent and proceeded to disparage Mom's parenting style. He actively discussed the not present co-parent and partner in a negative light in front of the children. This is not "therapy." This is "gossip." All the while billing insurance. Today, our teenager is failing school and suffering from depression and with few social skills. If you have a blended family, please stay away from this man. He does not know how to handle sensitive issues with adults-God knows how well he could work with kids. read more

Our family has been seeing Dr. Diller for many years. He has really made a difference to not only our son's life but our family. He does consider the entire family unit in his ongoing evaluation and treatment of our son. He is very responsive to request for repeat prescriptions. Unlike other physicians that have worked with our son in the past, Dr. Diller is always looking for indications to reduce medication not increase them. He does not push meds. read more

Dr. Diller has been such a great help with our family. We have been seeing him since 2010 and not only has he worked with both my daughters, ages now 19 and 16, but myself as well in dealing with the passing of my longtime partner and my own coping mechanisms. He has offered both his professional advice and also has provided insight as to whether there may be a need for outside referrals or even suggestions via books that are tailored to our particular situation. My daughters have learned amazing skills for both anxiety and attention deficit issues that I myself was having trouble pinpointing. They look forward to seeing him and I as well. He will continue to be an important professional in our lives. I and both my daughters, highly recommend him. read more

I caution anyone who uses his services to be aware that IF you ever find yourself having to cancel for being SICK, or running late in any capacity, he will not wait for you, and then he will file a claim with the courts and take you to court for the amount he would've been paid by your insurance company, (hundreds of dollars) AND throw in the fees it cost him to file in small claims court. The day WE were forced to go to court over our issue, Dr Diller was also suing 4 other patients of his, same day. Just be very careful, I would advise looking into other services through your insurance network. Life is busy and life happens, and you don't want to have to run the risk of your Dr suing you. I only gave ONE star as Yelp would not allow me to leave it blank. read more

This person should be considered for ethical review and probably not allowed to treat children. My child was treated by his man for some serious issues--life threatening stuff--and Dr. Diller repeatedly failed to info to me in real time about my child's condition, repeatedly failed to give me basic information needed to make good parenting decisions. In situations between parents who disagree about the right medical choices for their child, Diller lacks confidence and will take the path of least resistance so as to keep getting paid rather than give one parent unpopular (but what Diller has told the other is sound) medical advice. If you do get in to personally speak to him, the focus seems oddly heavily on him getting paid, what credit card you should use, etc. Weird. If you try to give your point of view on proper treatment or ask the basis for his suggestions, he'll arrogantly and dismissively interrupt you, and make you feel like you're not part of the process--and that you ought to just stay quiet. The fact that you may have a doctorate yourself won't matter; his arrogance transcends the particular audience. Sure, he has his ideas about what to do treatment-wise and, after some fumbling with the words, will tell you, but don't waste your time asking why. Pick your medical professionals very carefully and, if you pick Diller, good luck to you. Just don't say I didn't warn you. read more

We have known Dr. Diller for 15 years. Dr Diller started treating my son when he was in elementary school and has kept in contact with him throughout high school and college. Dr. Diller was even willing to meet with my son, via Skype, when he was out of the state. Using both a whole family approach and cognitive behavioral therapy, Dr.Diller gave my son the tools/strategies he needed using the least amount of medication. Over the years I have recommended Dr Diller to many of my friends and I will continue to do so. read more

Dr. Diller has been so helpful to our entire family. We have been seeing him for about 6 years; began seeing him for our son. We soon learned that Dr. Diller's approach was for the entire family...this is what made the difference! My son did not feel as if all the pressure to change was on him. He did not feel identified as the "problem". We needed to change as a family and Dr. Diller helped to lead us through that change. I appreciate his work with us...in effect, he saved our family. read more

We have two children in Dr. Diller's care, two very different kids with very different challenges. His approach has been consistently careful and conservative in prescribing medications. He shows respect and empathy for both child and parent, and he draws on nearly four decades of experience helping families navigate emotionally fraught situations with a clear head. I'm grateful for our now 10-year association with Dr. Diller, and I'm certain my children are healthier for it. read more

Dr. Diller has been treating my daughter for about five years. His whole-family approach gives us all a good look at our entire family dynamic. He started out with the least invasive treatment, and tried to do the most good with the least amount of medicine that he could. He's always been willing to be flexible in prescribing medications that our insurance company preferred. As our daughter has gone off to college, he's kept in close touch to make sure things are going okay with her, and is meeting with her as needed over video. He was highly recommended to us, and we would (and have) recommended him to others. read more

I really appreciate how Dr. Diller treated us as a whole family unit first rather than immediately focusing on the problems of just one child. Then after understanding and tweaking our family dynamic, he turned his attention on the specific issues concerning my son. In addition, he makes sure that we return as a family for occasional "check-ups" on our family interactions. Finally, I would like to thank him for trying different non-medicated interventions first. read more
