    My dog enjoying his hike

We've been here twice, actually wanted to check out Scott's Run and of course we got there too late so we decided to go back to Difficult Run trail. Trail is pretty easy:moderate with a fun river rock hopping. I let my dog cross on his own this time and he was having fun crossing through the river instead. We did about 1.5 miles when I decided to check how long would be for the whole loop trail. Found out it's about 9mi... nope we all decided to turn around immediately . We weren't ready for 9mi loop! Overall fun but could get muddy and puddle of water in certain area but nonetheless fun! Parking lot is pretty small but we got pretty lucky with parking both times we were there. Coming out of the parking lot you'll have to come out slowly as people on Georgetown pike tend to drive pretty fast . We would def be back again next time!

I came to LBF feeling intimidated because, although I've grown up riding Western, I'd never ridden English nor tacked a horse, even though I worked at a horse farm during college. LBF insists you tack your horse, get him or her out of the paddock, etc. It's a real experience that teaches you to respect the animals, the sport and joy of riding. Britton is awesome to work with; she's kind and patient but doesn't let you off the hook. She expertly manages to keep your self esteem afloat while forcing you to improve. The farm is a surprise--it sits at the end of a nicer housing development and you'd never know it was there unless you were looking for it. Mark, the owner, is very cool and laid back, trusting of his riders and instructors. There is one arena, there is no indoor riding. It's not the fanciest of farms but that's just perfect for a novice like me who is already feeling a bit unsure. The last thing I need is a group of prisses casting sideways looks my way because I'm unschooled in picking hooves. I highly recommend this farm and Britton in particular. It's a great addition to your life. While it's a bit expensive, compared to other riding clubs and farms it's a steal.

After a bit of outrage by all he changed his original increase from doubling prices to a $50 a month increase. I still have nothing but respect for the staff there and think it is a great place to learn to ride. As my daughter is getting more skilled, we have moved to an indoor arenas where she can jump snow or sun.

i was one of those little girls who LOVED horses. i collected my little ponies, read those saddle…read moreclub books, had folders with the lisa frank unicorns on them, and naturally, i begged, pleaded, and pouted until i was allowed to take horseback riding lessons. despite their slightly cheesy, 70s-looking website, wheaton park stables is a great place to take lessons. the sprawling, emerald grounds stretch on for acres, bordered by white picket fences and they're just across the street from wheaton regional park, so classes get a sporadic trail ride treat. i think about half the horses at the time i was there were boarded, but they also have a lot of teaching horses, which is fantastic. the main thing i remember was stressing about arriving early enough to get first pick of my horse. early birds got nice horses, like bandit or cricket. latecomers got stuck with the ill-tempered, slow, strong-willed, or easily spooked horses. my least favorite? bonnie. what a hooker. she never listened and refused to go faster than 2 miles per hour. i suppose the most important thing is, they taught me well. i took lessons every weekend in elementary and middle school, but quit when field hockey kilts seemed way cooler than smelly riding pants. then in college, i dusted off my riding helmet and gave polo a try (hey, i figured i was combining the two sports). well, it lasted exactly one lesson due to the early practices, but, my riding skills? still on point.

This is a great barn, I ride here and I LOVE it! The lessons are great, I have learned a lot here!…read moreThe instructors are very understanding and teach me very well. I love riding here and love all the horses.
