Now open during COVID, wear a mask before you enter! The Ristra delivery was a little bit late this year, now it's here unless they've sold out already! Not much has otherwise changed since my last review, which I honestly appreciate! Dietz Market has been around for a good long time in Durango. It's a mainstay along the highway as one of the first places you may come across when entering the town from the south. Almost hidden along 160, just before you get to Farmington Hill, you'll find this local gift and garden shop. Every time I visit, I find something new and interesting in the store, and now that I no longer live in Durango, I make sure to stop by before leaving. It has all sorts of interesting things, including spices and sauces, eclectic kitchen goods, toys for the kids, coffee, chocolates, pottery, chili ristras at harvest time, fairy garden furniture, and lots of pots and outdoor decorations for your butterfly garden at home. It isn't burdened by the crowds that shop downtown, so swing by if you get a chance. Fun! read more

This is a hidden gem! Lots of cool things for your home or gifts for others, with a lot of locally produced/made items. Great variety as well. Prices seemed reasonable. There were two ladies working this morning and both were very friendly. We will be back! read more

I've been in several times in the seven years I've lived here. For the most part - I like it. They have a fun selection of things. There is one woman in particular who works there who just always seems to be in a bad mood and it kind of ruins the experience. The first time I thought maybe I had just caught her on a bad day and gave her the benefit of the doubt. However, I don't think I'll be returning anymore after my last encounter with her. I walked in twenty minutes before they closed which I thought would be plenty of time to put together a quick gift basket. This woman followed me around the store with her arms crossed and acted annoyed that I was there, taking up time. When I had gathered the items I wanted and came up to the counter, it was five minutes before their closing time. She looks up at the clock, looks back at me, sighs and says, "I've already put the gift wrapping supplies away. You're not going to need it gift wrapped, are you?" I was taken a back and said no, that it was okay. After I paid, she proceeds to literally follow me out the door (standing directly behind me) and locks the door. It felt like she was herding me like a sheep. So rude and unnecessary. read more

They lost me as a customer before they even had me. My husband and I recently moved here so I was excited to check out the local shopping and add a few new touches to our home. They do have a pretty cute selection of items and a mostly reasonable prices. My first time in there were maaaaybe 5 other customers, so they weren't what I'd call busy, and not a single employee acknowledge my presence even when I smiled at a woman behind the register! I decided to return a few weeks later thinking perhaps I was there on an off day. Nope! My second time in again no one spoke to me...until I made my way from the pottery directly to my car. Then a woman came out as I opened my door and asked if I needed help. REALLY? Too late, lady. I've been in retail most of my professional life, much of it in management. I would be absolutely appalled if any of my staff/co-workers conducted business like this. Let's remember this is a VERY small town and word travels. Hopefully they get their act together and learn what customer service is! read more

Dietz market in Durango is a great market that has so many products from Durango and Colorado as a whole. So.. a perfect gift place indeed and quaint. What is sad is that the personnel do not really match the friendly quaint lookin store. The ladies there are always grumpy and not really rude, but not friendly. Seem bothered that you are there. This is always the case as we are in Durango at least twice a year/summer due to family. Too bad read more

I have been going here every year for 10 yeas to shop for Mother's Day and Christmas . After just getting back open after being shut down for almost 2 months from Covid I was super excited to see it open. Pulled into the parking lot and immediately went over to the little garden area. A few years ago I bought this hanging dragonfly ornament that I fell in love with for my mother. This time is my Mothers Day shopping is hard for me as my Mother passed last year so I wanted to get something in memory of her and knew that this place would be the perfect spot. While walking around a gentleman approached me. During our conversation he said that they also were open inside the building but if I wanted to go inside the building I would have to wear a mask and I said to him that was fine and I had one in my purse. About 5 minutes later I found the perfect memorial piece for my mother and another large planter that I couldn't carry at the same time. While walking to the front door I grabbed my credit card and mask out of my bag. As I approach the door it opens about 5-6 inches and I see an older lady grab the piece out of my hand and yells at me if I want to come in I have to wear a mask and shuts the door in my face. I'm standing the with my mask in hand floored that an employee would treat a paying customer like that. When I get back into my car I call and as to speak with a manager and the lady on the phone introduces herself as the owner as I start to talk I realize this lady is the same person who just slammed the door in my face and she admitted it. One would think that after your business has been closed of Covid for 2 months you would treat your customers a little better than that. Sadly they have lost my business for good. I am so glad I stopped in here. I almost let some of the reviews deter me. It's a great gift shop with a nice selection. I was looking for some gifts that were locally made. I found some great earrings and gourmet stocking stuffers. Parking is so much easier than trying to get into any of the downtown stores. I look forward to going back! read more

I'm local and LOVE this place. I drive from west of Durango to get the best candles in town, the best silk flowers, and the prettiest napkins, tablecloths (paper or cloth). The bathroom is THE BEST STORE BATHROOM EVER. I have gotten to know the staff and they are unintrusive, helpful, and friendly. I save going to Dietz for the end of my errand day because it's so pleasant. I don't even have to buy anything!!! read more
