At 69, I've experienced quite a few urology related issues. 3 of these required surgery under general anesthesia. Dr. Bruno performed 2 of these surgeries. On a scale of 1 (worst) to 10 (best), Dr. Bruno was 20 ;) I had zero complications from Dr. Bruno's surgeries and I recovered quickly. He has the rare combination of impeccable patient interaction skills (he has a 6th sense) and a proven track record of outstanding medical knowledge/surgical skills. I am extremely fortunate to discover him and gain access given the huge demand for his services. Dr. Bruno is the ultimate answer to any urological issues. read more

Dr. Dieter Bruno is an amazing physician! Incredible acumen as he got his MD from Duke University, combined with phenomenal bedside manner skills. He is very thorough and never rushes through the exam and explains things carefully and thoroughly. I truly feel blessed to be in his care. read more

I really like Dr. Bruno. He has a great bedside manner and takes as much time as needed to answer all of my questions. I would highly recommend Dr. Bruno to anyone looking for his specialty. I do have more a problem with trying to deal with Dignity Health's billing. My service was miscoded and I have spent hours trying to get it fixed. I get sent to the national number which keeps sending me back to the local number. It seems like nobody in their office knows what they're doing. Unfortunately this seems to be the case with most US medical services not named Kaiser. read more

Unfortunately, I called today and found out Dr. Bruno's office has closed. There's a recording with information on how to get your records, make payments and information on who Dr. Bruno recommends to see instead. I went to his website www.pucenter.com and found out Dr. Bruno's at Sequoia Hospital, as the Chief Medical Officer. Very happy for him! read more

Dr. Dieter Bruno is a rock star! I love this man! He identified my extremely enlarged prostrate quickly, lined things up for surgery within a week, was excellent in all aspects: examination, prognosis, surgery, after-care, bedside manner (calm, thorough, with a great sense of humor) and intellect! I couldn't recommend anyone better for Urology care and surgery than this man! Love ya, man! I hope you're doing well! Respectfully, Stephen Martin read more

We were fortunate to be living in the area when my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer by Dr. Bruno's partner, Chris Threatt. Dr. Bruno was busy with other patients when we went for our consultation, and we had to wait an extra hour, but it was worth it. The reason he runs late is that he takes time with his patients. He explained all the alternatives clearly, and by the end of our consultation, my husband and I knew exactly what course of action to take. We both had complete confidence in Dr. Bruno as a surgeon, and he didn't disappoint. The surgery went well and my husband had a great outcome--he ran a marathon two months later! We did not find Dr. Bruno arrogant at all. On the contrary, I thought he was gentle, kind, and respectful. My husband had just lost his job and Dr. Bruno gave us a break on the charges beyond what our insurance paid. I recommend him highly and would gladly send my friends to him. read more

Here is what my husband had to say about Dr, Threatt and Dr. Bruno. I am not sure what the other reviewer is so upset about. If something / someone is THAT GOOD ... you sure will have a LINE ... Dr. Bruno was very kind and never arrogant, he went out of his way to treat my husband at the end of his very long work day. Then the next morning he came to see my husband as early as 6:30 a.m. before he started his normal work day just to see how he was doing!: read more

Dr. Bruno is an amazing surgeon and urologist. He operated on me, after I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. He was always there for me, for any question and concerns. Dr. Bruno's office staff is as amazing as he is, always helpful, and very prompt in responses through phone or email. I do hope that you will never need his services, but if you look for a surgeon at heart and soul, Dr. Bruno is your best choice! I have only good words and a lot of gratitude and respect to him and his professionalism! read more

Dr Bruno has fantastic bed side manner and throughly explained everything going on with the kidney stone problem I experienced a few years ago. I was sad to hear a message that he had closed his practice. I do hope he doesn't stop being a dr because he is fabulous! read more

Dr. Bruno is easily one of the kindest and nicest humans my husband and I have ever met. I found him bc all of his stellar reviews on Yelp. He is certainly everything he is talked up to be. Within a week of seeing him for my Husbands first appointment, he quickly diagnosed him with testicular cancer and got him right into surgery. If it wasn't for this doctor who knows how long it would be before we discovered there was a problem at all. I am so grateful for this man! He also takes his time with you and lets you ask as many questions as you need. I highly, HIGHLY recommend seeing this kind soul of a doctor! read more

Complete waste of my time. This guy may be really good but really arrogant. Not to mention that he made some wiseguy crack about one of my personal appendages. Last but not least he wanted to do things to me for no reason but charge my insurance company more money. I waited in this guys lobby for an hour past my scheduled appointment and even more time in the medical room for him to tell me I'm fine. He could have easily told me over the phone. This guys a joke! read more

This is a great doctor who knows how to listen to a patient and seems very caring. I felt very comfortable talking with him about my medical issues and trusted him with his therapy suggestions. When I didn't get positive outcome from one course of medication, I called his office, he responded right back with a call and changed the therapy. No waiting, no hassle, new prescription went right in to the pharmacy. The cystoscopy itself also went very well, even though I was really nervous. I have to give credit to his staff as well, the nurse reassured me and answered all of my questions about the procedure and involved risks. Dr Bruno also was kind enough to refer me to another specialist when I asked. This is a doctor that I believe is competent and truly professional in his field, yet human enough to acknowledge when a med problem surpasses his area of expertise, and has a certain calming energy from which any patient can only benefit. If you are looking for a good/great! urologist, I would highly recommend him! read more

Good urology surgeon, who took care of my husband's prostate problem with surgery, with appropriate pre-op counseling and follow-up care. He listens, even if he cannot remember you from the prior visit weeks before. I went to all appointments and noted that he conveyed good bedside manner, patience, and interest in answering questions and securing good results, more than most doctors these days ( including a prior urologist who was like an automoton, one size fits all) and he has absolutely more patience than most surgeons who just want to move on with doing the mechanical work they are familiar with ( surgery generates decent income, talking about pros and cons does not). There were some unusual aspects to the case that we would have liked to have had explained or investigated more thoroughly, or be warned about, but as this man is a basic, solid quality community surgeon and not an eggheades academic university urologist, overall it was fine and I would recommend him to others who need or think they may need prostate evaluations and a good surgeon. Another plus is that he works out of Sequoia Hospital, an excellent facility with a calm environment ( relative to other local hospitals, especially one very large one further south we avoid). read more

Dr. B is just awesome, always calm, always patient, taking the time to examine you carefully, and to explain the results, procedures and prognosis. He's seen me for a kidney stone, which included a few weeks wearing a stent; for prostate enlargement and biopsy (him and the nurse made me feel less bad, considering, let's say, my position :-) and for stuff like a swollen testicle. I trust him 1000% read more

Professional AND Personable ...you get a very, very generous serving of both with Dr Bruno. He's very competent in his profession and brings with it compassion and bedside manner that is warm, friendly and unrushed. He listens patiently to all my questions, concerns and thoughts and he explains not only what the treatment options are but perhaps more importantly the "whys" of them being necessary or unnecessary. He is very, very gentle during the physical exam and the biopsy, which can be both physically as well as emotionally uncomfortable but his gentleness coupled with his precision and skill is unsurpassed. read more

Excellent doctor! Terrific bedside manner. Cares very much. Provided a great deal of relief. Knows what he's doing.

6/30/2012: It is almost 1 1/2 years since my husband passed away. Dr. Bruno did an excellent job as a surgeon. My husband was just unfortunate to have small cell prostate cancer which doesn't show up on the PSA. I have never had an experience like I did with Dr. Bruno and my husband would be typing this if he was here. He takes his time with you and explains everything. Dr. Bruno gave us his personal e-mail address for questions, etc. Long after he was under the care of radiologists and oncology doctors, Dr. Bruno would periodically call to see how we were doing and just to check in. HELLO, how many doctors do that. I was actually thinking this morning about my husband and about the doctors involved in his care and Dr. Bruno jumped out - I wanted to e-mail him to personally thank him again but I couldn't find his e-mail address and I didn't save his card. I hope he is able to read this but, more importantly, I hope anyone with urology problems uses him. He is the kindest doctor I have ever met. So very impressed. I just read one the the reviews posted and someone said he was arrogant. That is almost funny. He is everything but that. If you read this Dr . Bruno, THANK YOU. Thank you for being like a friend during such a difficult process. YOU ROCK!! P.S. Also love your credentials. You get everything with Dr. Bruno. Sue P. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Dieter Bruno at Peninsula Urology in Atherton. He is a very skilled surgeon and has a very calming disposition. I was referred to Dr. Bruno by my OBGYN for an emergency procedure, so I had very little time to research his credentials (which it turns out are top-notch). It was a complete 'leap of faith' for me to place myself in his care, and I could not have been happier with the outcome. He has dramatically improved the quality of my life. Also, his staff is very friendly and knew me by name, which I really appreciated in this day and age read more

Several months ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Two weeks ago I underwent robot-assisted prostate removal surgery, and my surgeon was Dr. Dieter Bruno. The entire process was textbook perfection, from beginning to end. Dr. Bruno did all the diagnostic things necessary to confirm the diagnosis, at the same time explaining to me and my wife in detail what he was doing, the nature of the disease, what test results meant, and what our treatment options were. We chose surgery as our course of action, and we knew that the good doctor was the professional to perform that surgery. Dr. Bruno radiates confidence and knowledge, with a warm, sincere smile, a firm handshake, and a good sense of humor (no small thing, when dealing with serious matters like cancer). Everything happened just as he said it would, and the personnel at the the hospital (Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, CA) were warm, friendly, and competent. My stay there was as pleasant as it could be under the circumstances. Recovery at home was almost effortless -- little to no pain and I am already fully reengaged in life and work. It's almost like it never happened. I can't say enough about Dr. Bruno, and I'm sure that this process went the way it did, with the outcome we'd hoped for, largely because of his steady hand on the wheel. Thank you, Dr. B. read more

Following the shock of discovering that I had prostate cancer, my wife and I interveiwed numerous specialists offering various methods of treatment. We were fortunate to meet Dr Bruno. He calmly and carefully explained my options. We had great confidence in him and the course of action that we chose. Dr Bruno is a personable and caring individual. He actually made a house call during the holiday season following surgery to check up on my condition. I can't remember that happening since I was a small child. I can only speak of this doctor in the highest regards. read more

I contacted Dr. Bruno for a second opinion regarding prostrate surgery. I brought 2 others to the interview, including a physician. After over an hour listening to his answers, we were all impressed. I chose him as my surgeon within 1 minute after that meeting. The surgery went well, my recovery was quick, and I actually enjoy the follow up visits. He is extremely competent, and quite likable. read more

I agree with all the 5-star reviews of Dr. Bruno. He is incredibly compassionate, patient, and engaged. His bedside manner is practically the best I have experienced living in the Bay Area. He answers all your questions, makes you feel at ease, and takes his time. His staff are always friendly as well and I've experienced very little wait time in their offices. He is superb and I'd recommend him to anyone needing a urologist! read more

Dr. Bruno and I went to war back in March of 2012. I was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer. The low grade Tumor was too large to remove from my bladder, thus my only option was to have my god given bladder up and have Dr. Bruno, with his magical hands, made me a complete new bladder from my own intestine. The procedure was not done by robotics, but his artistic delicate hands. The entire proceure took approx. 6 hours--thats why I say we went to war. This so called NeoBladder works like a champ and I am Cancer free. All I can say is this guy is who you want, if you experience any Urology problems. He is a very busy man, but when it is your turn to finally sit down with him, you will understand how detailed he is and how he explains everything to you in layman's terms. I still see him for annual check ups and the wait is worth it. As other have stated, you are in good hands. read more

I was referred to Dr. Bruno by my family physician when my PSA test results began to elevate. After performing a biopsy it was determined that I indeed did have prostate cancer. Dr. Bruno was very thorough in explaining my options. I was fortunate to have detected my cancer early which gave me more options. Dr. Bruno has vast experience in the new da Vinci Robotic surgery technique and gave me the confindence to choose that direction of treatment. The procedure is minimally invasive. I was only in the hospital overnight and back to work in two weeks. It has been six months since my procedure and I am very pleased with the results and Dr. Bruno. He is straight forward, has a calming professional approach and is very tuned in to his patients. I highly recommend his services. read more

Very high caliber physician/surgeon. As a registered nurse with a high standard of care I can enthusiastically recommend him as well as his office staff. You will not find a more professional, competent, or committed doctor anywhere. I was sorry to read the one negative review since my experience is over the top with Dr. Bruno. I have been his patient for over a year and he has been insightful and candid about what options I had medically. I had surgery and needed to have post op ER trip (not his fault). Instead of just letting the ER doctor perform a routine procedure after 9PM at night Dr Bruno was sitting at the front desk when I arrived. He reminds me of the way medicine was 30+ years ago with the true family physician. I feel so lucky to have found him after having a nightmare experience at Stanford with the so called "one of the best urologists in the country". Dr. Bruno is a gem in the corporate medicine world we now live in. I would recommend him to anyone that has urological problems and wants someone that cares. He does not pad the bill and the wait to see him once you arrive varies by time of day just like all other physicians. Things happen and doctors run behind. You can always call ahead to see if you should show up later. It is also not hard to get an appointment especially if you need immediate attention. read more
