After waiting for five months to be seen by Dr. Diehl, his office calls me the Friday before the scheduled appointment to tell me that they have cancelled it. The reason given was that Dr. Diehl didn't see a need for me to be seen by him. Five months wasted waiting on this doctor. Five months that I, and my primary doctor could have used to look somewhere else for answers seeing how difficult it is to find a rheumatologist in my area. If you're looking for a caring doctor, this ain't it. Dr. Diehl told my father to his face that he wouldn't live more than a year after having suffered a devastating stroke. My father was at that point depressed, wheelchair bound, and unable to speak intelligibly. It is now 3 years later and I finally decided to write my review to let everyone know my father is A. Still alive B. Able to walk (with walker) C. Speaking clearly and continuing speech therapy D. Living independently again I can't imagine how much quicker and better his recovery would have gone if he had a doctor who believed in him. How tactless to not give a person any hope for rehabilitation. How soul crushing it was for me to believe this doctor when he told me my dad wouldn't make it, when I was already at the lowest point of my life. Reading other reviews I can see that Dr. Diehl simply doesn't care about his elderly or disabled patients. Find yourself a caring doctor who will advocate for your health and recovery, not one that has given up on you from the get-go. read more

Great office and great doc. Doc Diehl was my attending at the West Hills ER and I went to his office for follow up care a couple weeks after my release. He spent a good amount of time talking to my about my problems and courses of action going forward His ultra calm and kicked back demeanor really lend themselves well! His office is nice and neat with a cool aquarium in the waiting room. Three cute dogs wait to greet you as you walk in the back, but be careful, you may die from a heart attack and all the cuteness. His location in West Hills affords him many other good dr referrals and x-ray/MRI facilities, should you need one, and he is a block away from the West Hills Hospital. If you want someone who will return your calls, this is not your guy. When I finally did talk to him, and complained that he had not returned my call, he said he was too busy. Yeah, me, too. Wish I could have the time back that I wasted chasing after him. But calling the family is a part of his job - particularly when his patient has dementia, like my mom - and he was the one who admitted her into the hospital. I was sick as a dog and was not able to be present as I normally would be, but I was the one who arranged for her to go to emergency. I called several times, with all the info about my mother's condition and with my contact information. Dr. Diehl did not think it was necessary to return my calls. He also didn't care to know anything about my mom - probably because of her age. She's 90. The only reason he finally did talk to me was because I kept calling the nurses for updates, and he happened to be present at the hospital during one of the calls. The case manager even texted him on my behalf - twice - to no avail. Calling his office was a complete waste of time. There is absolutely no excuse for him not contacting the family of a patient with dementia, when my mom cannot speak for herself. Every other hospital doctor has contacted me with a diagnosis and treatment plan. Every other hospital doctor has returned my call. The last straw was when I learned from the hospital that the doctor wanted to release her to her rest home even though she was completely unresponsive and couldn't open her eyes! That was actually the reason I had the home take her to the emergency in the first place! It's one of the things my mom does when she is sick. This time it was a UTI and dehydration. But the fact that her eyes were closed yet again meant to me that she is not yet out of danger. Besides, if she isn't eating, drinking or taking any meds, the staff at her home would not be able to help her. I feel it was very irresponsible of him to make the decision without discussing it with me first. The good news is the hospital will not be releasing my mother, and I was told that I could get another doctor! read more

He took excellentcare of me in the hospital. He was amazing ,funny and made me laugh when I was at my worst point. He took excellent care of me and had me going home and no time. Today I followed up at his office. His office staff is amazing really wonderful women. He spends a lot of time helping me figure out my medical needs. we came to a conclusion on medical regimen to help me get my health back on track. He's funny, but he also is a very serious doctor that knows what he's doing. I'm very happy he's my new general care provider. read more

I first met Dr, Diehl, when he was on call and taking care of ER patients. He was calm, friendly and reassuring to me when I had an emergency. That was over ten years ago. Since then, he has been my primary care physician and taken good care of me. Whenever he has needed to refer me to another doctor, each one of them has been as compassionate as he has been taken good care of me. He takes time to see how I am doing and to make me a partner in my own healthcare. Another thing, that I really like about Dr. Diehl, is that he doesn't always default to writing a prescription when there is a non-pharmaceutical alternative. Dr Diehl is amazing. He is so great. I could not ask for a better doctor. Right now though I'm irritated with his office staff, because he's got some new Asian girl filling in there, and she doesn't know what the heck she's doing, and she's not very friendly, and the phone lines are always busy since she started there, I can't even get through the line! And I had to go there in person one day because she tied up the phone so much that I had to drive down there. And when I got there, she was talking on her personal cell phone! He really needs to get a better fill in for the front desk. She's horrible. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Diehl's for the past few years. He has always seemed to listen to me and be genuinely concerned about my wellbeing. I have asthma and was tested positive for Covid. My symptoms were that I had a cough with feeling very tight-chested. I have experienced this in the past and a z-pack or Medrol pack gets me better in a few days. I called the office to see if I could get some medicine on Friday so I would not get worse over the weekend. I received a call back from his office stating that he would not give me anything for this and that I had to suffer through the weekend and if it was not better by Monday to call the office again. I was told that he would not have any time to talk to me until then. Really poor for a patient to hear this. I called my previous Doctor's office and was able to facetime the doctor that afternoon and was given medicine that has definitely helped me breathe easier in just one day. I advised Dr. Diehl's office staff that he has lost a patient. read more

I'm sure he is a good Dr. But how do you run a medical practice with employees that lie to patients, never return phone calls, even in emergency situations. I would highly recommend going elsewhere. Dr. Diehl is a wonderful doctor. He's been my doctor for over 10 years and was referred to me by a colleague. He helped save my life when I was in the hospital and visited me every day even when it was a holiday. He's always been patient and kind. His office is clean, remodeled and he brings his dogs to the office which makes the patients less nervous about a doctor visit. I've refer all my friends to him. read more
