So off we went, Meeting point at the Yesterday Bar, Metzer Strasse 2, Ubahn (U2) Senefelderplatz...A nice bar typical for the area, not too big...not too small....and fairly priced Had a beer, and chatted with people from all over the globe, visiting Berlin: Australians, middle eastern, eastern europeans, americans.....many curious and cool people...telling their crazy travel stories. The tour went from bar to bar and ended in a club in Wedding I loved the choice of bars...most of them I have never been to, and the staff there was totally friendly, and not for just grabbing cash from the tourists. The club at the end was not exactly my taste (too dark, electronic music too dull and monoton), but hey it is free entrance, and at the weekend we were at, it was packed and seemed popular. The food on board was decent, but eating before might be better and grab a beer ok board. Even though they deal with a lot of tourists, they don't really seem to cater to any other than German tourists. The boat crew seems to think they're doing you a huge favor to let you aboard. I'd do a different line and there's many out there on the river. If you do go, use the Berlin Welcome pass and red book to get a discount on the fare. The river itself is interesting if you can find someone who has the ability to tell you about it.

It was so fun driving around in his 1970s restored van and getting a personal tour of the city from someone who was knowledgeable about the city's history and could give us his own stories about growing up in Berlin when the wall was still up. Jens started the tour with a brief history of the city and then we took off. Along the way he did a great job of showing up photos of "before" photos to give us a sense of how much the city has changed. He also pointed out all the places where the wall had previously stood as we drove around. I highly recommend that instead of going on the hop on/ hop off bus you hire Jens instead!
