Took the free tour with Polly and she was amazing. She covered so much history, gave very interesting facts, and gave great examples and stories about everything we visited. She was thorough in explaining the significance of Berlin's history and I thought it was an amazing 2 hours spent. I was a little bummed when the tour I wanted was full, but things happen for a reason. This was one of my favorite activities on my European tour. Our guide Sam was fun and very informative. We hopped around the city and even drank in the streets. That is a novelty to most Americans. We got a range of atmospheres on our tour and we ended at a nice dive bar. Can't recommend this tour more highly. In our 6+ hours on foot we saw all the major sights in the city center - from Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag building to Potsdamer Platz and Checkpoint Charlie, which, we learned, is a bit of a scam. The entire tour is contextualized against the East and West Berlin past and, of course, WWII history. I think what stood out to me the most were all the little surprises and anecdotal tidbits that made the tour so fascinating. For example, the one building the Allies desperately tried to level during the bombing raids - the Nazi Air Force HQ - survived the war completely intact while nearly ever other building on the street in each direction was blown to pieces. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and fun. Wish I could remember his name. Tall dude originally from Oregon. Anyway, if you can walk for 6 hours and want to learn a ton about Berlin in one day, do this tour. If I remember correctly it was only 15 EUR. read more

I haven't had the opportunity to take one of Terry's tours, but I have done two tours with other guides and they were excellent. The guides at Brewers are passionate and knowledgeable. They're doing this because they love it, not to try to make a buck off unsuspecting tourists. Their prices are pretty decent, and by the end of the day you definitely feel like you've got your money's worth. Highly recommended to help you get oriented in Berlin, but bring some good walking shoes. read more

She seemed to get more interesting trivia knowledge than we did, but our tour was so thorough and full of information. Huge kudos to William on the craft beer tour. Super easygoing Aussie who knows his stuff when it comes to the suds. He led a nice -sized group (8 of us) of thirsty travelers to three different pubs around Berlin with each one being a bit different. The first stop was a tap house that had a cozy coffee bar vibe in prenzlberg w/a great selection of beer. Then it was off to a laid back bar inside a hostel that brews their own beer. Finally it was off to the castle pub to finish off the night with a round of samplers. To his credit, William gently urged some of the more timid imbibers to push their beer drinking boundaries and dabble in some varieties they may not have tried before. All the while, he kept us in line and on time (spent approx 45 min at ea stop). Highly recommend this tour and tour guide--money well spent. read more

I did the walking 'Brewer's Best of Berlin Tour' which was $15 and was worth every penny (or euro). We saw a huge chunk of the city in the 6+ hours we were on the tour. Our guide was informative, friendly, and most of importantly, funny. Properly inserted humor is much appreciated when learning about some of the terrible things that have happened through Berlin's history. Example: Did you know the 'actors' dressed as soldiers at Check Point Charlie are actually male strippers. Yep, crazy. Anyways, if you like walking (which is the best way to see any city), you will love this tour and come away with even more respect for such a storied city. read more

Well worth the time. Our tour guide, William (awesome guy), had a great relationship with the breweries and outstanding knowledge of beer. Very cool to see the craft beer side of a country known for pretty standard German lagers and meet some of the folks (German's and American's) that are changing the beer world there. My husband and I took the 6 hour Brewer's walking tour of Berlin. It was WONDERFUL! We saw everything. Our group was large (I am told larger than most) and I was concerned at first. I quickly realized I had no need to be! Our guide Alex, was fantastic! He led us through Berlin's amazing history, provided back up maps and vignettes to embellish the stories, included two stops (one for lunch and one for afternoon snack) that worked well both for our group and our timing, and all the while kept us all in check.
