This is one of those unfortunate situations where this business has decided not to be flexible in…read morepolicy. My daughter rented a storage unit on Saturday assuming we would need it for her move into a smaller apartment. On Sunday evening we realized we would not need the unit, no promptly on Monday morning we stopped by the storage facility and explained what happened. The woman at the counter said there is no way to cancel the contract for the month. She called her husband to ask if there was an option and he said no. He was not on site to speak with me. He stated That they are keeping the $95 and there will be no refund. We never went in the unit and I am so disappointed that this company has no flexibility when someone makes an honest error. Then when she closed out the account she kept the $10 security deposit because I did not give 5 days notice. Seriously, the unit is paid for for a month and they are keeping the $10 security deposit plus the $95?? I also found out she closed it out with today's date so if my daughter wanted to use it this month she can not, even though it is paid for. I asked why she didn't mention the 5 day notice and she said , she didn't think about it. So I said please reverse the close out and I'll give you a 5 day notice now. She then took $10 out of her purse and gave it to me. So this company has my daughters $95 AND can rent the unit to someone else. In hindsight I should have canceled in a month so they can't collect twice for the same unit. I would suggest you do not do business with a company that is inflexible.

I have been a customer for several years now…read more The man who owns the place, Gary, is wonderful. The facility is always kept clean and has cameras for security. Plus, there is a small apartment at the location so there is someone there in the evenings to look after the place. They offer storage both climate controlled and not. As well as spaces for boats, RV's and the like. The facility is fenced but is open so that you can access your unit at all hours. There is a drop box for your payments so that will save you a stamp if you choose to use it. My favorite thing about this place is the fact that it is a "local" business and not a franchise. The owner is accessible if you need him and he is always happy to meet with you if you need him or his son, who helps out. If you are looking for a storage facility in this area, you cannot go wrong with Sycamore Mini Storage.

They were an hour and a half late to meet us at the store which should have been the first sign. It then took them 2 hours to load three pieces of furniture and get to our house less than 5 miles away. The main reason we hired them was due to one of the pieces being a heavy marble topped wooden buffet that I could not move by myself. Unfortunately they dropped this piece while unloading it from the truck, splitting the marble in half as well as damaging the rest of the piece. The follow up on this was an almost equally horrible experience. They only got back to us and agreed to reimburse us after my wife threatened to file formal complaints. However even after this they started screening my wife's calls whenever we tried to follow up on the reimbursement. It wasn't until we called from another number and refused to get off the line until they processed the reimbursement that we eventually got the money back for the furniture item but refused to give us back our deposit despite the fact that the only item we actually needed them for they broke. I will never hire again and hope I can save others from the terrible experience we had.
