Do NOT make an online order with Scheels... what a freaking nightmare…read more We ordered a $700 item that their website said was "In Stock"... so, to be on the safe side, I called the store to verify that they, in fact, did have that product in stock... the guy I talked to assured me that they did have the item. So, I placed the order...mere minutes after placing the order (paying for the item for store pickup) we received an email saying it was "out of stock" but that they had one at another store that would be shipped to the Wichita store, but would take 7-10 days. Needless to say, we were not happy! 13 days later, the Wichita store FINALLY got this item back in stock (according to their website). So, I called the store again and spoke to an individual who assured me (again) that they did have the item in the store. So, I asked if our existing online order could be filled by the item they currently had in the store...(no brainer, right?). He said, after checking with management, that we would need to cancel our existing order, then they would set the item aside and we could come in, pay for it, and pick it up. Of course, that meant we were at the mercy of their refund process (which took 5 days, btw), so we were out $1400 until they decided to refund our money. We picked up the item later that same day with no more hassle...thank God! Never, ever, again will we make an online order from Scheels... we like the store, but my goodness, for an employee owned company, one would think they would take more pride in their customer service.

A little boy who is probably 7 years old said hello shawty to me by the fish tank and then ran away. I lost my dad and used my phone to track him back to the guns and ammo section after almost talking to one of the random strangers because I thought he was my dad (they're all dressed alike I swear) I was definitely tempted to spend my hard earned money on some carhartt sweaters and the little cowboy cap guns lol but pulled through The bathrooms were clean and nice- so were the employees, except for the one that have me a weird look after I said to my mom that I wanted to take the shopping cart and do donuts 10/10 will shop here again (another day another slay Cabela's)

I was at Cabela's and bought a 10 lbs mushroom boat anchor for $25. I also wanted to buy 2 six foot oars but they didn't have them. On a whim I went over to Academy Sports to look because I had never heard of the company. I was already in Wichita so why not look. They also only had 1 six foot oar but the girl working there called the west store who said they had several in-stock. (It was a pain in the butt to have drive all the way over to the other store.....but it beat going home empty handed.) I got my two oars, which were pretty sturdy, and they were only $20 a piece....WOW !! Great price. Looking online the best price I could get these same exact oar was $35 a piece. Since I was there and the price of the oars was really good, I then walked over and looked at the anchors. The same 10 lbs mushroom anchor was $20....$5 less then what I had just paid at Cabela's. From now on my first stop will be this place for hunting and fishing stuff.

However, I did check the website and you could easily order and/or find what you are looking for. We weren't bothered by staff and spent ample time meandering the store looking through the selection.
