The service was horrible across the board. In the shoe department, we were ignored for 15 minutes despite eventually standing right next to the person who claimed to be in charge of the department as he talked to an attractive woman. There was no warmth and everyone acted like we were disturbing them. Then when we went to pay, a woman ignored us at the cash register while she talked to a fellow employee. No acknowledgment despite obviously seeing us. Eventually she started to check us out and stopped halfway through and said someone else would check us out. The person who eventually checked us out had been standing there idle the entire time. He ignored us. Finally, we had to bring back the shoes we purchased because of a problem with them and they refused to take them back. I understand there is a reluctance to take back shoes that have been worn (very briefly) on concrete (not dirt) but they quickly got angry and were not kind. This was the same guy, by the way, who ignored us talking to the attractive woman when we bought the shoes. Please know this review apples specifically to the Roseville store. We later went to the store in Coon Rapids, returned the same shoes WITHOUT QUESTION, and treated us with kindness and great customer service. read more

My 34 year old daughter who happens to be a NATIVE american was watched, brought clothes to the dressing room attendant. was let in only a min later had a police officer try to enter her dressing room While she was naked! She did nothing suspicious, she is not on tape doing anything. But its ok to call the police on someone shopping while being Native! We already have PTSD from the way we are treated! This is the Roseville one, which is way smaller than the one off of 494 and 35W. That one is very, very large, but this one isn't exactly small. There are lots of different types of sporting goods outlets; this is the kind that feels primarily interested in the most "visible" type of sporting activity. Things like football and baseball and hockey. In other words, things that popular kids do in high school, and which require gear and/or activity-specific apparel. I bought a softball mitt here once, but when I want to peruse camping gear, this isn't the first place I'll think of. They have some, but supplies for solo outdoor activities are not their strongest feature. They have a LOT of clothes here; not just stuff you'd wear while participating in sports, but things that look cool on people who are hanging out at vaguely sportsy-type events. I'd maybe come here if someone invited me to a party at Justin Morneau's house and I wanted to look like I fit in. No one will ever invite me to a party at Justin Morneau's house. But this place has a batting cage, so who really needs that guy anyway. read more

Why would a couch potato go into a sporting goods store? A painful knee kept me from sleeping. So they are one of the few places that carry the Copper Fit knee brace, among other body parts. They have a greeter that sends you to the aisle with someone to meet you to help you locate it. Once you get to the check out it's actually a schlep to get from where you stand to the check out. This need for privacy is worse than a Dr.'s office. It ends up congested and nothing to lean on. For a grab and run experience, it was pretty good. read more

Pretty sad when the department worker covering the floor is too busy eating Chinese food to help a customer. Then u ask if any ski pants are on sale and he says "NOPE" with an attitude. Just one word. Then u ask on sizes and he acts oblivious because he's too busy eating his food and folding clothes. Since when do u do that?!! Had a very uncomfortable experience with a male manager yesterday. I had purchased a large item, and then when we were on the phone and he did not realize I was still on the line, he continued talking about me and made highly inappropriate comments. I asked to speak with a manager, and he told me he was the manager and there was no one else I could speak with. I would not set foot in here again, and I would not recommend it as a place for women to shop if they want to feel welcome and safe. read more

Sometimes when we go places to spend a ton of money, we're treated like we shouldn't even be there. Ha! Not the case with our experience here. We knew exactly what we wanted going in, and Steve helped us through the entire process of purchasing a treadmill. He explained the warranty options and let us know about an option to open a credit card with Dick's to get 10% off. They also had an option of going interest-free for so many months (I think) or doubling your Score Points. We chose the latter, since a big purchase gives you a lot of Score Points which translates to a decent chunk of money you can spend in the store. Since the treadmill wasn't in stock, it took a little longer to order everything and set up, but he explained to us what he was doing each step of the way. He estimated it would take about 1-2 weeks to deliver. It did take a little over 2 weeks, and when we called the store to check on the status, they said things were a little slow because of all the winter storms happening all over the country. At that point it had been a week and a half, and the person I spoke to said they were expecting a delivery the next day and we would get a call from the delivery company a few days later. This timeline was accurate, and the delivery company was pleasant to work with; the delivery guys were on time and friendly, and gave us some pointers after they assembled the treadmill too. Oh, the other good thing is that we waited for a deal to get free delivery and assembly, which saved a lot of money. We went in around the New Year and they had just stopped this deal, but said it would start again in mid-January (gave us a specific date) and sure enough that deal began again on that day. read more

Mostly an athletic apparel store for yoga moms and beer leaguers, they do have a nice selection of fishing gear at good prices. Picked up a couple packs of plastic worms cheaper than the cheapest I found online. The display was actually marked incorrectly, the math was wrong, but they did honor the lowest price / correct math at the check out. Speaking of, the check-out area is completely ridiculous. You have to walk 20 paces from the main door area through a roped queue to stand right next to the main door area. They do offer a rewards club which I imagine is handy. They have these little to-scale examples of the camping tents for sale. No matter how nicely you ask, they will not sell you them so your G.I. Joes can go camping with The Baroness. read more

I took my 12 year old Grandson to Dick's for a new set of golf clubs. Your pro Chris Noha was very professional and helpful. There is an electronic driving range at this store, my Grandson was allowed to try out different clubs and get some helpful himts from Chris. While they have a decent selection, I found the staff to be largely unhelpful. When asked for assistance finding a particular item, the first staff member looked at me and said, "well I don't know." The second at least gave me a general direction, but really not much help. Then after I had tried a few things on, yet a third staff asked me if there was anything else I needed, I told him yes, explained, he asked if I'd like him to run get it. I said sure and waited by the dressing room door holding it for his return. 15 minutes later, he hadn't returned and another clerk approached clearly upset that I had been holding the dressing room door open. He called on the walkie to see if he could raise number 3. Finally number 4 ran and got the item. I had also inquired about the pricing of an item and was told he would find out, but then number 4 ghosted me. The box was marked $34, which in itself is a steal, and found out when I got to the register that they were even less. Not the place you want to buy a gun, for one they don't adhere to the federal laws( Brady law) iwent in on a Black Friday for a special they were advertising And did all the paper work that is required to buy a firearm on the computer, fine. The problem is after the 3 days required by law in which they have to wait to sell you the gun if they don't receive a response from the Feds they still wouldn't sell the gun, it's been over a month now and they still haven't got a response back on the check. Federal law says after 3 business days they can sell the gun, not Dicks they wait for the Feds to response back. Needless to say I went to a local gun shop bought the same gun after the 3 days came due , it's been a month now and still no word from Dicks . I relocated here from Orange County, CA. Dicks Sporting Goods purchased a great regional sporting goods chain we had that was called Chicks Sporting Goods. I was hoping they would call the new, merged organization Chicks with Dicks, but alas, it didn't work out that way, and now here I am, in the twin cities. The bottom line, when it comes to all of your basic, yuppie and politically correct sports, these guys have it all. Nike, Under Armour, et al. in all of the latest and greatest styles, colors, and sports for you and your kids. Finding help can be a bit of a challenge at times, even when just trying to get access to fitting rooms, which is why I took off one star. read more

After spending hundreds of dollars on a bicycle, the seat broke three separate occasions within the first year. On my fourth trip to Dick's I was hoping to discuss any reasonable solutions instead of once again 'tightening the seat' to only break again. Management was extremely rude in discussing my obviously defective bicycle and offered nothing in support other than the recommendation of buying a separate bicycle seat at full price. They have good clothing and pretty cheap prices most of the workers are awesome but a couple of them aren't the best they can be but are great too. For example.. Today I went to get presents for Father's Day and they were cheap prices like $23.95 for a golf shirt. But when I went to checkout we went to the cashier and I asked can I get a gift receipt And the cashier said it was too late but she could return them and then buy them again so I did just that but then she said it would take a while because returning wasn't in there system quite yet then I went to give her the rewards card she didn't say how much was on it or how much I earned but all and all It was an ok day at dicks. read more

I do like their clothing department. All the big name brands with a heavy focus on Nike and Under Armour. I don't shop much at Dick's but went this time due to a sale there were advertising on some boots. Was in the boot section for twenty minutes trying to find the ones on sale and finally giving up and just started trying on boots. Found a pair I liked that weren't on sale so was planning on buying them. A salesperson stopped and we asked where the boots were that were in their ad. She had no idea what we were talking about but said she would go find the ad and let us know. Waited another 10 minutes and went to check out after she still hadn't shown up. At the register a gentleman ahead of us was complaining to the cashier that he had called the night before to check on some item and was told they only had the more expensive option. He got to the store this morning and found out they had the lesser priced item also. The cashier told him that there was nothing he could do about that and turned away from the gentleman and started ringing up our purchases. The salesperson who had talked with us back in the boot area was at that register talking with the cashier so it appears she never intended on coming back to us to check on the items we asked about. The cashier rang up our purchase and we asked about the boots again. The cashier said that the boots we were getting we only a little more expensive----not answering our question but indicating that the price wasn't bad on what we had purchased. Found out later that one of the pairs of boots that I had tried on were the ones on sale...you would never have known that as they didn't have any signs up either. Very disappointed with the service. read more
