I go into this Dick's Sporting Good once in a while usually when I am in need of something that I cannot find in the discount stores and do not have time to wait on an order. They have a decent selection on some sporting goods compared to most other stores in Ocala! Leave Ocala and your whole world opens up so please do not think that the variety and bargain is either what you come to Dick's for. They are lacking in any kind of sales help. This wasn't always the case but as the years come to pass thing's have changed. The store is organized pretty well and in each section the selection is decent with quality products. Do not expect any regular sales. They have the golf shop, summer shop, sport shoes of different kinds, exercise equipment and accessories, sports clothes for the family, a fan shop, camping, fishing, outdoor gear, bikes and a bunch more. There truly is a variety of sport necessities and all the extra's I just feel that sizes may be limited, and there are bigger stores like this elsewhere with better bargains. My wife needed a new pair of sneakers so we went to Dick's Sporting Goods while in Ocala, Florida. I have to be honest I did not have high expectations but I was proved wrong. The shoe section we clean and orderly. My wife talked with the shoe guy (sorry did not get his name) but he asked her about what kind of support she needed. He made a few suggestions and offered to get her a pair of each to try on. While she was testing the shoes out he gave her some space to just allow her to get a feel for herself. He then stopped back and said "once your down to your two favorites, put one on each foot and test them side-by-side that way". Great suggestion but again not pushing. She picked a pair and although they were expensive, we tend to keep shoes for a long time so $150 seems worth it! Like the way they helped us and would go back again! read more

When visiting my parental units who have retired to this part of Florida I've had to hit up this Dick's at times to purchase gym and running gear. Normally because I stupidly forget items when packing at home. The store has a lot of merchandise and I've usually found what I need. Yet, this chain always seems to be overpriced. I was used to Modell's here in NY which had great sales and prices. I always expect to pay more at Dick's. No comment on the staff as I usually don't bother with them other than to pay and leave. read more

I am a real customer and have been shopping at Dick's throughout the country for over 20 years. Before my experience in this store I read the many critical reviews regarding customer service. Here is my story. Upon entering the associate at the checkout immediately asked if she could help. I was immediately impressed as I made my way to the shoe department by the abundance of quality products on display. I found some shoes that interested me and while trying them on the associate in the department stopped stocking inventory and came over to assist me. Without asking he was there to assist. After picking out some socks to go with the shoes I went to checkout to be greeted again by Carlene. This is where customer service far exceeded expectations. Carlene asked if I was in the rewards program and while I knew my wife had set it up many years ago I could never remember how to access the account. At this point Carlene was determined to find the account for me and we went through every phone number, email address, zip code and name combination I could think of until she found our account. Then she took the time to update the account with current information. While previous reviewers had bad experiences, the associates I dealt with went beyond expectations to deliver high level customer support. read more

Least organized Dicks ever. One clerk in Golf , no clue on what was there. Went in for a Garmin GPS watch.. One in case. Only one in stock. After searching for 10 minutes. That was only one. Inquired on purchasing one on display. Seems a customer returned one, but not the charger. At sometime another purchased the returned one and the clerk removed the charger out of display..She advised we could order a charger online for $16-$20. Why should we pay listed when it's not all there. Also.don't be concerned if alarm.goes off at exit..please return to cashier to have sensor removed...we returned only for them to tell us the alarms don't work right and they ignore the announcement.... read more

I wish I could give this store a zero! Customer service is horrible. The people working are slow and have no idea what they are doing but get angry and rude when you ask questions about fishing and hunting licenses. My husband and I went to this store to look for a starter set of golf clubs. After our experience, I would advise anyone who is looking for equipment or recommendations to steer clear of this store. The employee stated he was a "golf pro" but after our interaction with him I find this hard to believe. Not only did he appear to lack basic knowledge, he was arrogant and rude as well. Asking for ANY type of assistance is met by condescension and lack of knowledge. By far the worst Dick's sporting goods. So many employees, none willing to help. One girl told me she never heard what i was looking for (shoelaces). I showed her on my phone where is said they were in stock but she just said she didn't know where they were. I looked for 20 minutes by myself and gave up. I bought rollerblades for my husband and the associate gave me a 10% discount because his size was the last box which was battered. That weekend after he tried on the blades, it was too snug. I went to exchange them but lost the receipt. The same associate from the day before told me I could not exchange it because they were used. I told him we never used them, we bought them that way from him! The manager came out and was rude saying they would never sell used merchandise. I did not intend to open the box to see if I bought used merchandise! I wanted to exchange for a larger size and they would not allow it. I contacted corporate about my experience with no luck! Wow! No customer service. Waited to try on shoes for 25 min. Then guy came over and finally helped out. He was very helpful but seams like he had way to much on his plate. Brought me out my shoes to try on which had the security tag on the laces. Had to wait another 20 min till he came back to take it off so I could try them on. Liked the fit so decided to buy. Waited on line for 30 min while a lady in front of me had a problem with her return. Nobody opened up another register to take care of me. The MANAGER was just staring at me. I decided to leave the shoes at the counter and walk out. They lost $150 purchase because of a negligent manager. Will never go back there. read more

Usually it's kind of a mess but they always have a great selection of any of my workout needs.

Employees are non existent or not helpful when you find one. Almost always if I get something on sale the price doesn't ring up correctly. Once, a whole rack of swim garments had a sale sign above. As usual the price was full price at the register. When I questioned it they said those weren't included even though the sign reflected otherwise. I really dislike ever going into this store and only use it as a last resort since there isn't another sports store in this town. Employees act as if they hate working there. read more

Normally I don't do this but I had a horrible experience today. Went to Dicks in Ocala this afternoon. I ask one of the associates for an item she replies I don't if we have it. I asked her if she could ask a supervisor. She says I don't think they will know. I said fine I will look myself. We back to the gun department where I thought the item night be. The young man there was very helpful he tells me those items were moved to the front if they had ant left. I walk back up front and looked didn't see them. I walked toward the customer service desk and Keri processed to tell me to have a nice day. I don't even get to ask my question. There are 3 of them standing around the counter laughing and cutting up. I then walk to the side to ask a few questions Keri turns around and says I don't know then before I can my next question she proceed to turn around shaking her butt hands in the air dancing and all 3 start talking I say excuse me 3 times and no one answered me and Keri still kept dancing and ignoring me. Finally I yelled and one of the clerks turned around and says oh what do you need I said never mind and walked out. I was so mad I went back in and told them how horrible there customer service was and Kari says ok thank you. I will never shop at Dicks Sporting Goods in Ocala worst customer service ever. I don't mind driving to Bass Pro in Gainesville I have never had a bad experience they go out of their way to help. read more

I purchased an elliptical and I asked the manager and sales person if I they were going to sell it for less in the near future. 10 days later it goes on sale for $200 less and they won't price match after purchasing. The manager said corporate would not honor and they were sorry after telling me 10 days prior that they would refund the difference. There are signs plastered it all over the store claiming a "best price guarantee". However, this is only a gimmick and management is not willing to truly stand behind that. I attempted to apply this to a shotgun purchase when it was offered on sale $100 less at another store. ( by the way, even bass pro shop posted was less than a day, so that would have been a better option anyway. ) They decided not to honor it due to a technicality because the other store happen to be out of stock at that moment. (obviously they would be: it is two days after Black Friday). The other store was willing to have it ordered online and ship to their store, but apparently that is not good enough for Dick's to honor their advertising. I came in ready to pay full price and purchase two shotguns with that case, however due to their unwillingness to honor their advertising, we will not be shopping at Dick's in the future. read more
