I recently went to Dicks Sporting goods for a new pair of sneakers. I was interested in the Hoka brand. When looking at them I noticed many different types. I was confused and wondered what the difference between all of them were. I had a lovely, extremely patient young man Nick who helped me. Nick had the patience of a saint and helped me pick out the correct pair for my needs! I found Nick to be extremely knowledgeable about the different types and explained the difference to me. This was my first time buying sneakers at Dick's and it was a pleasant experience. I wouldn't hesitate to go back. Dick's has an unbelievable selection of sneakers. All different brands to choose from. If not in stock they can order them for you with free shipping. My sneakers were not available in the color I wanted. Try #2 this time no dl needed. They didn't have the same exact color shirt so grabbed same brand different color. They said couldn't do had 2 be exact shirt. Unsure why there was so much trash built up outside of this location. Maybe it was the mall or what but it definitely needed to get tended too. Looked like it was there for at least a day or two. On the inside I found a good selection of sizes as I walked around to look for sport bras and football gloves for youth. This store is nice and big. Seems to cover every sport or whatever they could think of. Employees seemed friendly asking me if I needed any help a few times. This location is somewhat far from me but for what it's worth it's worth the drive. But please, someone go handle the trash out front it's really bad and very uninviting. read more

It's a large Dick's store, sure, but not well-organized either in terms of the staff nor how the merch is laid out on the floor. Compared to the Dick's at Charlotte Southpark (which is also a larger Dick's--probably larger than this one) it seems kinda grimy and poorly-run. I was in the market for soccer cleats and had to look all over the entire shoe section (which is large) to find anyone to help me get sizes and finally found an associate who was doing something else but was apparently over shoes. He went and brought out the sizes I requested but seemed unsure of anything I was saying about soccer cleats (such as questions on other models and if they carried them at any of their stores) and just suggested I look on their website. Then, he disappeared. After waiting about ten minutes to tell him no thanks, neither pair suited me, he could take them back, I just left. The associate was nowhere to be found, nor was any other associate and I wasn't about to wait in line up front to tell someone I wasn't buying anything. I felt bad leaving two pairs of shoes out on a bench in the shoe section, I'd have rather they were taken back to storage by an associate but I wasn't waiting forever, either. Between video and sensor security I am sure the shoes were safe, but I was pretty put out by this poor customer service. You have someone looking at $200 soccer cleats, you'd expect the help to care about helping. But that's Dick's for you: some places like Ocala most staff are clueless (except they have one young lady who is very very well-versed in running there) while some like Charlotte are exceptional. I've visited this particular Dicks sporting goods located in Brandon on three occasions and every experience has not been good. This store location is understaffed and always out of stock on merchandise. Items are misplaced and scattered throughout the store. Because of this I drive up to 40 min away to other Dick sporting good locations whenever I'm in need of workout equipment. read more

Staff will treat you as a second-class citizen if you are not white, the amount of money in your bank account does not matter because all they look at is your skin color. I was needing help with hiking boots and told I was in the wrong area for the basketball shoes. this upset me so I went to browse over in fishing I asked how affective a red and white lure would be in brackish water, the staff member handed me a bobber and walked away. I should of said crank or shaker lure I guess he assumed I was ignorant and thats why he handed me a bobber. read more

Although the Brandon location is difficult to get in and out of, my most recent experience was awesome. Nick R. In the outdoor department revived my faith in the lost art of customer service. Nick took the time to make sure we were COMPLETELY SATISFY and helped us not only select the perfect item we were looking for, but he went further and ordered several items online to ship directly to the house and even recommended the iPhone Dicks Sporting Goods "App" and helped me create an account and enter the correct rewards number for future purchases. I don't know why I still start at other sporting goods stores, I usually end up finding exactly what I need here. This is a good spot to find anything golf-related, including shoes, shirts, and golf balls. The guy I've dealt with in the golf department (can't recall his name) is always very helpful. I also come in here to get my Nike shorts, especiallyu good when they're having one of their sales. The fishing department deserves mention too, they have both fresh and salt water tackle and lots of choices spread out over 4 ailses. Keep up the good work Dick! read more

He said I had to say the exact club I wanted to use in order to hit in the range . This is not a personal driving range . All this before I could get a second sentence out . I've been to this store a couple times and it is alright, nothing to really brag about. Some of the employees seem like they don't even want to be there...which is typical of retail for the most part. So it's hard to expect a lot from employees in these big box sports retailers. You would think that I would learn my lesson at some point. I was in a search for Lightning merchandise and it was extremely difficult to find in the store. It seemed to be stuffed in a little section in an odd location. I asked a store employee where it was and she was almost half asleep and just pointed in a general direction and said "over there." There was actually an alright selection and was able to get a couple things, but I still wish there was more. I guess I will just have to give my hard earned dollars to the Lightning in their merch store. read more

I have shopped at Dick's on numerous ocassions and I am usually satisfied here. I think they have a good size variety of merchandise. I am usually there for women's clothing- mainly running gear and they offer a nice selection. They do have a good variety of shoes. I mainly go there for running shoes because they carry Brooks- you can't always find them at other stores. Seems like they could use more associates- although I can usually find the shoes I want it can sometimes take forever to get someone to assist you with sizes and at least half of the time, the associates seem bothered to have to assist. Parking can be a bit of a pain since the store is connected with the mall. It's worth the little bit of walking you may have to do. read more

The location is not prime if this is only place you are visiting because it's located in the mall with the least available parking possible- literally it's the smallest selection compared to other parts of the mall and you are competing with the restaurants for parking too. The store itself is large and clean. The customer service is terrible. Took ten minutes alone in the shoes before someone showed up to help- there were no other customers there either. Then they didn't have my size in any of the shoes I liked. We wanted a gun safe from the ad as a gift and we went the day the ad came out and they didn't have it- the option they gave us was to order online with full price shipping even though they advertised it. When we went in the weights section two staff were talking about their weekend and didn't even greet us. The prices are too high for that kind of service. The selection is good and the quality is good but the service makes me rather shop online. read more

A lot bigger than the Sports Authority in Brandon, and a lot cleaner/newer looking to. GREAT SELECTION!!! Love that they also carry hunting items and ammo. Larger selection than the other sporting stores in the area. Problem is the mall can get packed, making parking a nightmare. But overall I like shopping here and will continue to do so! read more

Horrible Customer Service.. While visiting this store in Brandon, Florida, I experienced not 1 but 2 employees (one being the manager) that had the personalities of a wet dish rag. When asked a question they both made if very clear that I was imposing on them and that they didn't have the time or the desire to help me with anything. SO BAD !! read more

Love this place & all the employees. Every time I enter this store I get sucked in by pretty much everything they sell. All the employees are always helpful & seem to be in good spirits & the store is always clean! My only whine is I wish they sold hockey gear in their store instead of having to order it online & also wish the prices of most their items were a little less but obviously they're doing well despite my 2 minor complaints. I'll keep coming here for sure but I'll still attempt to locate a lesser price. read more

The selection of weights was pretty disappointing but the sales clerk was friendly and the prices seemed fair.

I had to return pants ordered online for $90 because size was too big. We used Dicks reward dollars to lower the price substantially. I didn't know you didn't get the reward dollars back with a return! A manager helped out and I got the full value of my return! I was so impressed with his willingness to help and what he was able to do. I'm loyal!!! read more

The staff is hit and miss here the first time I couldn't find any help to save my life and left unhappy. I gave them a second shot and they blew me away with how friendly they were and quick to help. Their was one employee that really stood out I didn't get his name but it was a younger guy and he was quick to give me a fishing tip since I am new to the area and let me know that they will spool line their as well which was great since I was pressed for time. Overall I would go back especially for their fishing selection its the best in the immediate area as far as i have found. read more

Most of the time it's nice to shop here, but the other day we were discriminated by the bald manager and his staff. Me and my cousins were looking to buy some costas for a fishing trip we were going to, so we were trying them on to see which ones fit and looked cool. I noticed that the bald manager was giving us a dirty look and just watching us. He got one of his employees to go count the glasses, while she was counting them she said,"Do ya even know what costas are?". We were a little shocked that a dicks employee would say it the way she said it. She then turned to the bald manager and said," they are all there" with another rude tone. I've always bought my gym and fishing supply's from dicks, but the way we were treated that day I'll never step a foot inside the store again. read more
