Excellent modern food! Everything we had was outstanding. Including rib eye beef; vegetable curry;…read morepan fried mackerel; mackerel pate; charred kale; baby gem salad; peas with mint and butter. Very fresh, creative, great flavors. This is the place to come for your vegetables; they do a great job with them, nothing over cooked, and have super variety. Also, we got lucky walking in at 6:00 without a reservation, and had to be done by 7:30. So, get a booking in advance if possible. Highly recommended.

Porthminster Kitchen is lovely. They have really friendly staff, gorgeous seafood and interesting…read moredeserts. It is located upstairs so also has beautiful views of St Ives harbour. We tried: - Mackerel pate: Oh my goodness I loved this! I could eat a bucketful! - Scallops (one came with bacon jam, the other with mac n cheese and truffles...) These *were* good, but I think I have been spoilt by the truly stunning scallops in Japan...so they didn't quite compare. - I had the hake, served with potatoes and beans. It was light, perfectly seasoned and delicious. - My husband had the sea trout with some sort of ponzu sauce. I tried a bite of this and it was also lovely. - I also tried the frozen apple desert, which was a bit of a work of art! I liked it, but had food envy for the white chocolate mousse. My friend (who booked a table for us) told me that the owners also run the Porthminster Beach Cafe, which is more famous, so harder to get a table. It was pretty busy when we visited, so it is probably worth booking a table in advance, even if this is their less-well-known resturant.

FALFALAFEL is the most exquisite falafel eaterie I have ever had the pleasure of sampling. When I…read moresay eaterie I mean take away, well when i say takeaway i mean take away from a trailer...but this adds to the delight of falfalafels customers..and it's customers are fiercely loyal believe me. Hagit and james, a local falmouth couple from cornwall and israel respectively set up this little trailer a few years ago and it has proved so popular it has won national competitions already. The falafel is made lovingly and traditionally using a falafel maker imported from israel so they are the proper job, loads of fresh home grown salad freshly chopped, homemade chilli sauces, spicy pickles, home made hoummous and even homemeade israeli buns and biscuits are offered to drooling customers. The thing that makes this food so unbelievable is the authentic recipe and cooking methods, lovely warm welcome and chat from the owners and the truly homegrown and organic love care put in to each and every aspect of the dish. You eat it in a white or brown pitta bread warmed up, then lag on plenty of sauce and get messy stuffing it in your gob. You can even have the dish without the pitta in a bowl if you are wheat intolerant like myself, amazing food and amazing people, don't miss it. All the food is wheat and yeast and dairy free if you eat it without the pitta, so great for food intolerance and veggies and totally mouthwateringly delicious. you can find falfalafel outside remedies bar on the moor in falmouth, cornwall during winter months (closed sunday and monday) and on the pier at the bottom of the high street in falmouth during the summer. There si also a outlet at the tremough university campus in penryn.
