Diane is the kind of woman you read about in the history books. She saved my hair journey and pushed me to fight for my birth right to feel beautiful in my own vessel. I met Diane on the day before my birthday, for a retwist and grooming of what I thought were starter Locs on my heads. She took a good look at my hair and knew right away something was wrong. They weren't done properly. To protect my hair from further damage I went home and spent hours taking out this style. Chunks of hair were lost in this process. OMG THIS IS THE BEST PLACE EVER!!! Diane is literally the sweetest and most caring soul and you can tell you are going to get your hair treated WELL from the moment you arrive. When I arrived I was scared because it was a very manly barbershop and I was dressed "fruitier" today but Diane met me at the door and took immediate care of me and was just the BEST! When i came in I definitely gave her a challenge, I had not done anything with my hair for months other than wash it and I just came back from Miami and was at the beach a lot so my hair was especially messy and i was rather self conscious about it. Diane reassured me my hair was beautiful and not messy just "growing out in its natural way" and that was so reassuring and sweet of her to say. We then talked and related to each other from being from the caribbean and she proceeded to wash my hair so good it was like therapy. Then blow dried my hair but not too but that my hair was cooking and my hair texture was damaged, the perfect amount. Then she began braiding with no rush. I felt bad because it was getting late but she did not seem to mind and took her time making sure each braid was perfect and the parts were perfect. Before using any products she always informed me about it and also gave me great tips for maintaining my hair. This was my 1st time using Diane for braiding my hair, I found her through Yelp. I re-scheduled my appointment 2 times prior and she was understanding and very accommodating. The day of my appt she moved it up 2 hours which worked for me. I showed her the hairstyle I wanted and she got to work right away. Diane while working on my hair was so pleasant and comfortable to talk with. We talked the whole time she did my hair. She is very professional and skilled at what she does. I couldn't see my hairstyle until she was finished but I trusted her, that my hair was going to look great. She had me take a look at it and I loved my hair. She showed me the oil that she put in my scalp, put smoothing foam over my hair and placed me under the dryer for 15 minutes. I have never had that done when I got my hair braided elsewhere. Last minute, I randomly started looking up hair salons. My regular stylist was fully booked. After getting disappointed 5 times from salons telling me they were booked to capacity, I finally found one; Diane fabulous. Luckily, not only was I able to come in as a walk in on Saturday, but she was able to see me in 2 hours. She washed and conditioned me with a tea tree treatment. She even asked if I was tender headed before combing my hair. Although I originally wanted a silk press, I was happy with the pin curls she gave me because she thought it might last longer due to the rain in the forecast the next day. I've known Diane for several years and have always trusted her with my hair. I used to let another lady who worked in the same salon with her do my weaves but switched to Diane when I saw that she did a much better job. I'm always hesitant to get my hair braided for fear of unbearable tightness, snatched edges, poor quality work, unclean facility...(the list goes on). My experience with Diane has set the bar.
