The woman at the checkout was very kind and insisted on giving me a couple of pieces of candy that were for sale when I mentioned I needed to get to the grocery store as I'd been there too long and my blood sugar was dropping too low. She kindly but firmly didn't take no for answer and I really appreciated that.

One Star - Very Disappointing Experience…read more Unfortunately, my family and I had a very unpleasant experience at Treasure House Mall, and we will not be returning. When we first entered the store, we were warmly greeted by a sweet elderly woman who welcomed us, held my daughter's tiny dog, and even encouraged us to explore downstairs. Based on that interaction, we believed having the small dog was not an issue. Shortly after, another staff member approached us. This staff member was very heavy set Hispanic man. He so very rudely told us we had to leave immediately because of the dog. His tone was smug, dismissive, and completely unprofessional, which was especially upsetting given that we had already been welcomed moments earlier. There was no polite explanation or attempt to resolve the situation--just an abrupt demand that we leave. This incident was even more frustrating because just a few days prior, the same employee told us we only had 15 minutes to shop when there was still over an hour left before closing. At this point, the repeated negative encounters with the same individual made us feel singled out and unwelcome. As Black customers who live in Barstow and have shopped here frequently, it's incredibly disappointing to feel treated this way. Whether intentional or not, the inconsistency and hostility in how we were handled came across as discriminatory and left a very bad impression. Treasure House Mall seriously needs to address this employee's behavior. Rudeness, inconsistency, and lack of professionalism drive loyal local customers away. Sadly, our family will no longer be supporting this business.

I've noticed that the external doors look unclean, I'm not sure why they look so bad. It makes the mall look abandoned. There's also Dick Sporting Goods, Macy's and I believe JCPENNEY is still connected to the mall. There's several new clothing stores and shoe stores. There's jewelry stores, massage stores and eyeglasses stores.

He didn't have to but he did, which made me want to come to this thrift store anytime I am in town. Some of the shops have their own unique spark, which I really liked. At least not every souvenir shop feels exactly the same, so there's a little more variety when you're browsing around. I also really liked that there were different themed restaurants and dessert shops throughout the area. It was nice to see those little pops of something different instead of everything feeling too similar. Another big plus is that there's plenty of parking, with lots of different parking lots around the area, so we weren't too worried about finding a spot. It was also pretty cool to see a horse-drawn carriage going down the road! But Big Bear also offers something we are all familiar with: wining, dining and shopping! When you've spent the day experiencing Big Bear's natural wonders; you can cap the day off in Big Bear Village. Big Bear Village is the charming tourist hub quarters of Big Bear where you will find the Big Bear Welcome Center, gift shops ranging from toys, crystals, beef jerky, leather and everything in between; bars and restaurants and even public restrooms. The village features all levels of dining from casual neighborhood eateries to elegant romance perfect for dates and holidays and is the ideal place to purchase Big Bear tourist merch and trinkets. Big Bear Village is perfectly walkable and offers a free public parking lot and street parking but beware that even in 'off-season' - it is busy as a bee hive! For those SoCal residents familiar with Solvang (near Santa Barbara) and Old Temecula; Big Bear Village is a similar esthetic. If you are a fan of bears, then Big Bear Village is your playground as it is filled with bear statues curbside on every corner, each and every shop seems to brand itself with a punny name referring to bears and there is bear imagery everywhere! Even though not in Big Bear Village; my favorite bear in the city is a bear statue dressed as a marshal at the Big Bear Superior Court. I am sure this is very intimating to the bear criminals! Big Bear Village is bear-y adorable and the ideal area for tourists to dine and shop. Note: Big Bear Village is not where you will find stores like Dollar Tree, Marshalls, Starbucks, Verizon, Vons etc; as these are in a different area at the east shore of the lake. I don't know if this is just towards tourists or simply the Big Bear way of life but everyone is so kind in Big Bear with amazing customer service! Employees are endlessly complimentary, friendly and guarantee a pleasant experience. We even met the kindest waitress, Janet, at nearby Benny's diner who told us her life story and is probably our friend forever now. This is certainly NOT Los Angeles! Big Bear Village is the tourist shopping/dining hub that will sure to be(ar) a delight to all tourists and is a must-see when in Big Bear. Be sure to take a photo with one of the bear statues: it is basically mandatory!
