And…read moreone hidden gem that the city of Roseville offers in none other than the "Miners Ravine Trail". I thought I had seen it all especially doing my fair share of biking/jogging in Sacramento and Folsom. Boy was I wrong! This has got to be one of the nicest and cleanest trails I have ever seen. Those of you that are familiar with Roseville know that its a very large, populated city. And with the 130,000+ inhabitants that reside here, traffic can be a nightmare on any given day. Especially with the retail, commercial, and residential districts that keep its economy flowing. Well for those who wish to escape the craziness of the city, this just might be the solution. The one advantage of this trail is that you have access to the trail at many different points. Since I like to have the full 7.5 mile experience, I like to start out at Royer Park which is off of Douglas Blvd. and close to Downtown Roseville. When starting this part of the trail, you will be greeted by several wildlife such as wild turkeys, birds, horses, and ducks. And the beauty is so amazing, you will actually think you're in a rural area. Throughout the entire stretch of the trail, you will see many flowing creeks that are adjacent to Dry Creek. You will also see a variety of foliage and even glance at the backyard of peoples' homes including a giant barn on the western part of the trail. When you head to the eastern part of the trail, you will see some giant 5,000+ square foot mansions. And the big difference between this trail and the American River trail (which goes from Old Sacramento to Folsom), there are WAY less cyclists which make it way more calm. This trail you will see families with their kids, walkers, and joggers. Since I actually work in Roseville, I have seen several landmarks that I pass through (by car) on a daily basis. And by exploring this trail by bike or foot, it puts things in a much different perspective. On this trail, you will pass directly by Sculpture Park, United Artists Theaters, and Holiday Inn Express, just to name a few. Additionally, there are several benches if you need to take a breather as well as mile markers on the trail. Not to mention, the entire stretch of the trail is paved very smoothly, Overall, this is a great trail that I highly recommend. Do keep in mind that if you plan to jog/bike from west to east (Royer Park to Sierra College Blvd.), most of the trip is uphill. It may not be the longest stretch of trails compared to Sacramento but for the city of Roseville, this is definitely one that I will come to frequently.

We got lucky that nothing was taken, just a bummer to have to replace a window after doing something wholesome like taking our dog to a nature reserve. Otherwise this place is lovely. The trails are well maintained, the bike lanes are in good shape and clearly marked, and the reserve is clean. I love to take the long way around across the high levee because there is a little creek that runs by and it's just so pleasant to listen to as you walk.

Sunrise, a surprise 3.5 miles, and a birthday fitness gift!…read more Took my wife out to Maidu Regional Park for a 3.5-mile walk/hike as part of her birthday fitness gift, and honestly, this place did not disappoint! We got there around 5:45 AM while it was still dark because we really wanted to catch the sunrise. And let me tell you... it was absolutely worth getting up that early! Now, my wife wasn't exactly thrilled about the idea of 3.5 miles -- mainly because I may have conveniently left that little detail out beforehand. ‍ She survived though! The trail was well paved, clean, and felt very safe. There's also plenty of parking, and the parking lot was well lit. The actual trail wasn't lit, but honestly, it was so clean and easy to follow that we didn't really need it. I kept my phone handy and used the flashlight from time to time whenever my wife thought she heard something. As the sun started coming up, the whole experience got even better. Definitely a trail I'd like to come back to during the daytime because there's plenty to see and experience. And the timing was perfect. As we were leaving, a baseball team was starting to gear up for the day, which was a pretty cool way to wrap things up. Overall, 5 stars all day! Great place for a morning walk, some exercise, fresh air, and a beautiful sunrise. Two thumbs up! Definitely worth checking out!

There's lots of high climbing areas, so it could be dangerous for children that aren't very coordinated yet. The park is largely unshaded, so you definitely feel the heat on warmer days. Trail goes in a loop and most of it is paved. Easy to walk or push a stroller. There's also a playground for kids. When I was there, three photo shoots were happening. No surprise. The park looks great for pictures with the bridges and water behind you. Parking is the only problem. Small lot, and the park sits inside a neighborhood. Drive slow when looking for a spot. We went to do my son's senior picture session with a local photographer. The session was in mid December and the scenery was just breathtaking! It was the perfect setting, close to home. We opted for the $35 wristband, which was well worth it, he got to go on several different rides and hit the big slide multiple times.They had plenty of carnival games, vendors and food trucks. When it came time to grab a bite, my son picked Bubble Hive food truck. He got a waffle cone with vanilla ice cream and chocolate that was so big that we all ended up sharing it. Since it was Mother's Day, the beer garden and live music were a nice touch. They were serving mimosas, so my husband and I both grabbed one, since I was in the mood for something refreshing instead of beer. It was starting to get pretty hot out, so we only stayed for a couple of hours, but it was a fun outing and my son had a great time.

This park was such a hidden gem, not only do they have picnic benches all over the park, they have an area where people can reserve space with a ton of tables. Perfect for gatherings and celebrations. The park was well kept and green and they had areas to walk and equipment for kiddos to play on. There's another park across the street and I took notes during my visit to come back again with my dog to explore more. This park is off a one way street with homes on the other side of the road. There's a designated parking lot along with street parking, and there were signs that there was more parking down the road at the second park.
