He can say what he wants but my bank statements don't lie. Two years ago he promised a lot of families to bring in wrestling and a bigger and improved gym with more washrooms ...needless to say this never happened. We left Mamute about a month ago as Igor was unable to accommodate my son by not providing more than 2 classes a week (he knew we were looking at other gyms, and he was ok with it, and I have texts to prove this). Therefore, we decided to move to another gym in Pickering that provided not only 6 days a week of training but more options, including wrestling, Judo, Kick boxing and Muay Thai, all without breaking my bank. And this gym has more than 1 washroom WITH a shower! And IT'S CLEAN, being cleaned by a professional cleaner! When we left, Igor asked to see my kids and my husband said no. However, what angered me the most, as I'm sure all parents would feel the same, was when Igor went behind our backs (mine and my husband's) and contacted my then 12 year old son in the middle of the night on Instagram! I refuse to give him the title of 'Professor' as with that title comes with responsibilities (not just a black belt with a red tip...that merely holds your pants up) that he obviously does not have, like not to contact a child in the middle of the night especially without the parent's consent! UNPROFESSIONAL and INAPPROPRIATE is an understatement! You have been warned! I wish someone was around to warn me. Don't let what happed to my son happen to your child! Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere!

The children are taught in a fun and respectful way and the children respond with respect in return. They are really learning to work for their own personal reward and advancement, which is an important life skill. So like a previous reviewer - I decided I had better start being an example myself, so joined the evening kick boxing classes. I didn't think I would survive, but there is such camaraderie, acceptance, encouragement and fun - along with the incredibly challenging workout, that I was hooked. I'm in the best shape I have been in years now and the classes are never easy, never predictable, and never boring! Definitely a great place for a beginner who is looking to shed some lbs and is bored of the traditional gym, but definitely not a fight gym. Or if it is a fight gym they need to re evaluate their levels for classes. Very little technique but more about warm up, and cheesey burn out at the end. If the 90 min class maybe 30 min was actual pad work and it was beginner stuff. 3 punch combo with push kick. Would have got a better work out on a heavy bag at a local YMCA.

Cons: - You really do need to buy gloves, even if it's a trial class because the equipment (spare gloves) smells really awful. And no, it's not the smell of sweat, it's a scent that's rather indescribable. - The claim for TKMT is that no one is judgemental however the instructor said I looked horrible. I don't think she meant it to be offensive, but I was embarrassed since the whole Level 1 class turned their heads to look at me. I think the word was just a negative connotation is all. I suggest you bring a friend for the first trial for a comfortable experience.
