RUN - DON'T WALK TO YOUR NEAREST EXIT My wife wanted to look…read moreat and test drive a 2021 BMW M5 that was listed for a very attractive $68,490 and noted by CARFAX as a "good value". When we arrived at this particular dealership, and started looking around the lot and its sketchy location, there were very clear signals that we were walking into a sleazy operation. First, none of their numerous high-end Euro-cars had prices listed on the windshield! Secondly, many of them had "Buyers Guide" window stickers with a box checked: "AS IS - NO WARRANTY". It was obvious right at the outset that this dealership didn't or wouldn't stand behind their product. Right then, I was ready to get as far away as possible from this seedy establishment. However, my wife still wanted to take a peek at the BMW M5 and unfortunately by then, a young and inexperienced salesman came walking out to ask if she needed any help, by then it was too late! Just to keep him on his toes, we mentioned that she was seriously considering another Euro-car from a local competitor. Of course, he asked for her driver's license in order to test drive the car and asked if we wanted to come inside to get out of the hot sun and get the usual cold beverage routine. My wife saw me hesitating a bit and asked if I were coming in. At first, I felt better to stay outside because of the exuding negative vibes, but didn't want her to go inside alone either. As soon as we got to the salesman's desk, a sales manager approached us with the classic high-pressure tact. A few minutes later the original salesman had the car ready for a closer look-see with the driver's door open and engine running sending me more insidious signals. He suggested that we look the car over which my wife gladly did, although with his chaperoning. When she asked to test drive the car, the salesman said that the dealership didn't allow that without a guarantee that she was going to buy the car today and wanted to check her credit as well. Of course, after being shocked, humiliated and insulted, she said that was really like putting the cart before the horse in so many words. With that, he went inside never to be seen again. At that point, another "manager" [a third employee] came out to further reinforce their shady "company policy", apologizing if she felt offended. It was right then when I decided to interject and cut this scam short, telling him that he just made our decision to buy the other car so much easier and thanked him for doing so. While finally leaving the lot with whatever dignity that we had left, I told my wife that I could really use a shower!

I started at a different dealership and wasn't happy with the salesman. I decided to drive the 45 minutes here from Gloucester Township. I knew what I wanted so I came prepared. My salesman name was Alan. Alan was the perfect mix of knowledge, assertive but not aggressiveness and personality. I read the previous reviews, sure, the Finance manager was nice , she had great reviews but I didn't buy my car here because of her highlighting skills and protection plan knowledge. I bought my car here because of Allen. He related to me and he treated me like a person, not just a sale. More importantly, I related to him and he made me feel comfortable that he knew what he was talking about and that he wanted me to get the best deal I could. The car buying process isn't my favorite but I love my new Carbon edition Turbo CX-5. I was inclined to write a review specifically about Allen because of the way I felt dealing with him. His partner Doug helped him at times when he was busy, and Doug is a nice guy, but I made my purchase at Chapman because of my initial experience dealing with the salesman. The building itself it beautiful, clean, friendly and filled with stock and it made the car buying process a lot easier than the previous 4 dealerships I went to last week. The sales manager, Mike was a nice friendly person also and everyone there made me feel good about this dealership. If you are looking for a new vehicle, first off, go with a Mazda! The price for what you get is top notch! And the people there made the experience better. And for the record, I don't know any of them or had ever been there before but I went with them even though I had a slightly better deal to a place that was closer to my home because they were better at what they do than the other dealership down the pike.

It took over 45 minutes the Salesman went out to the shop to see what was what. he then drove my car back, parked it and went back into the other building, taking my keys with him. I waited areounf for almost 20 minute then when looking for him bu then I knew I was being played the waiting game and I sure felt that I was going to get low balled. I was PO'd by this time. Salesman came out an apologized but I told him the has shot himself in the foot. He almost had the sale, but the waiting angered me. Later that night, just before 8pm, someone called and wanted to apologize. I do not take to being played or ignored. I do not care how busy you are, you do NOT let the customer stew over his time with nothing being said to them. I told them that I would not buy a car with the Chapman name on it. He then had the audacity to ask if I would sell my car to them. WTF? No. I will by a Mazda, but not from Chapman. BTW, I do not negotiate from the MSRP price, period
