Giving blood is not the most fun I could be having on a Saturday morning. But yet, I find myself…read morehere because my doctor had ordered it. Oh, fun. This Clinical Labs of Hawaii is on the ground floor of the Kailua Medical Arts Building. It is across the street from Uahi Grill. There is metered street parking and a metered lot you can park your car. If you are lucky, have someone drop you off because there has been many times that I needed to wait or park further away when it was busy. Today, I was dropped off and walked right in. There was no one at the desk, so I stood slightly behind the chair so someone would notice that a client had walked in. I waited about 5 minutes before someone came out to grab my paperwork, but I saw that there was a special blood draw happening. It was a small child and the staff was doing their best to make sure everything was the best it could be for the kiddo. I know I should have minded my own business, but I couldn't help but notice the care and comfort they were giving to the child. It was actually pretty awesome. I had a perfectly awesome time myself, considering how many vials were taken from me. I was offered to choose what arm (didn't matter) and the staff member kept up the chatter to distract me from what was happening. I am not really bothered by blood draws, but it was nice to see that some people still care about your possible anxiety. As for my time here, it was as good as it could get. I was in & out in timely manner. I felt like they did care about my well-being. For future reference, if my doctor(s) ask me to go get blood drawn, I will definitely come back to this Clinical Labs. 85

It's been a week and no one has called me or returned my voicemails. They just sent me a bill for $320 after insurance, but I still don't know if my toe is broken. I basically am going to be stuck paying $320 for nothing and may have to go to another doctor to see if my toe is broke because it still really hurts

Do we take her blood now or after the one hour wait" If they don't know when they are supposed to draw my blood for a certain test, I definitely don't trust them to do it at all. There was also a lack of professionalism, as one worker was wearing regular clothes. I told them I'd come back tomorrow and the girl says, "Don't come back tomorrow. The workers tomorrow are worse than us." Weird thing to say. I left and walked 10 feet to DLS instead. Much better service and professionalism.

GPS took me to the correct location, so it should work for you. They have a parking garage on the bottom of the building. The parking attendant seemed pleasant and helpful when I asked what floor they're located. It's a $1 per half hour if you get your ticket validated. They're located on the 2nd floor in the back. There's two other windows before them when you get off of the elevator. It was clean and quaint inside, with an informational wall. I came before they close at 12:10pm on a Tuesday. I was the only person there and there were two people working. They were knowledgeable and pleasant as well. The guy took my lab orders, insurance card, and ID card. He scanned it then told me to enter the vicinity. He strapped my arm up and drew my blood for my test results. I have very tiny veins and he got a flow with one crack. I was in and out in less then 15 minutes, I didn't even have to pay for parking because I was still within the grace period.

My grandma is handicap so it was really difficult trying to get her to go up the stairs since it's located on the 2nd floor. Besides that, the workers at DLS were kind and efficient! It wasn't busy at all so we were in and out of there in about 10 minutes. Quick and fast location but downside is the elevator if you're handicap.

We waited for while. I told employee that mom needed urine sample so wrote her name on cup. Bathroom has 2 toilet rails on side and back. It was difficult to use both walker and transporter in space. I like getting my blood work at the Diagnostic Laboratory Service location at the Queen's POB III,…read moresince they open early as 6 am and as of now the parking is free for the first hour. I used to go to the Kaheka's location since they open early too, but you need to be early before the parking attendant starts working, but one time the stalls were mostly taken by the taxi cab vehicles parked overnight, so it may be a challenge to get a stall sometimes. The parking rates were going to increased at that time, and you needed to get out within the grace period that I remembered, otherwise you would have to pay for the parking. The DLS worker, Kwon (?) , would be good since I was a hard draw! it may take long on a busy day to make it out quick, so after that, I've been going to the Queen's POB III location. At this Queen's POB III has a lot of parking stalls, and the 2nd level which the levels goes by alphabets -maybe C/D level has mostly handicap stalls, so I just go to the E/F level which is the next level up. You take a number at DLS and either wait inside or outside. I try to go before work, but no way at 6 am since I heard many wait in line before they open. If I'm lucky and if I finish early, i get something from the cafe called Cooking Fresh in the lobby for breakfast. After a holiday or usually Mondays were the busy days. Service was good and I think they get more workers come in at 7am. You can pay or scan your parking ticket at the parking machine as you leave to the parking elevators from the 1st floor lobby. If the parking camera scanned & printed your license plate on your parking ticket, the parking gate arm will open as you slowly exit through or rescan your ticket as you leave. That's if you don't owe any more money. Most blood tests' results are ready same day unless test(s) are ones sent to the mainland. You can log in your account and check your blood tests results. I heard from before that DLS at that time was less than Clinical Lab. One doctor has a Clinical Lab inside his office and I remember paying a little more after my insurance covered. I heard some visiting Japanese patients from Japan don't have insurance so they pay out of pocket in CASH and it's less through DLS. I don't know if it's still is now. I just like all my blood work results kept with one laboratory place. I believe DLS is still own by Queen's Health Systems and it also appears in your My Chart account.

It's smaller that big brothers Queens, Straub or Kaiser but from what I've heard, people appreciate the service they were provided. Clean, pretty easy to maneuver, as you enter the main doors, a dedicated information desk manned by dedicated volunteers can help you get to where you need to go. But of course on a visit I focused on the dining options and I have to say the food was pretty good, just a simple scrambled eggs, rice and corned beef hash (canned) and a taste of their fried rice. All enough to satisfy a mornings craving for sure. Not spectacular, but satisfying. Service, like the rest of the hospital seems to be friendly, helpful and efficient. It shows in the way the employees interact with each other. Normally one does not specifically target to visit a hospital for their cafeteria offerings. This is not the case either. But if you are at this hospital on business and are hungry or thirsty, their cafeteria called the Bistro is definitely a resonable option.
