Simple for flu shot. Didn't make note of my life threatening allergy to medication that we discussed. Important.

Besides my personal opinion that people in Hawaii are just so much nicer than LA folk, I was super…read morepleased with my visit to Kuhio Urgent Care. I came for acute foot pain and swelling and was seen and recommended treatment all within the hour. There were others waiting as well but this office is super efficient and professional. These medical professionals are super pleasant (surprise! they actually seem to care) and thorough in their diagnostics. Got blood work (for preexisting condition) to cover all bases, prescription and x-ray order as well. Feeling much better and recovering nicely. Super happy with medical care in Hawaii, thanks!

Update: I just noticed Keith S, "business owner," replied to my prior review. All he did was ask…read morewhen I visited-- he showed 0.00 interest in addressing the problem -- so why should I bother replying? But I can assure you, my review is 100% true and even resulted in additional $150 of medical bills because his clinic sent tests out to another clinic, which billed me separately. Excuse me? After paying so much to Kuhio? And Kuhio never even bothered to tell me??? I called them, and they offered to "fix" the problem for me by billing me "only $100" additional "if I paid today." They are out only for your money and do not care about you. They knew we had no insurance and did not give a f*ck, so do not believe his garbage about "uninsured discounts."

My family had a terrible experience with their primary care just yesterday…read more First the nurse didn't take their vitals. Then they were told they wouldn't be able to be seen by a doctor because only a nurse was available. After that the nurse didn't know how to diagnose them and ordered a bunch labs without once telling them what any of the tests were for. Then she went to get an estimate and said it would be $600 for the both of them but later they were both charged $600 and when they went to get a receipt with the breakdown and to ask why they were charged twice they were told it was $648 each for the exact same amount even though different labs were ordered for the both of them and both lengths of their visits were different. Following that the nurse asked them what kinds of medicine they wanted in the meantime. When they went back to talk to them the nurse kept exasperatedly saying oh my gosh and being dismissive. Last year they had a completely different experience with a kind and knowledgeable health car provider. They asked for a refund and were told they'd be getting one then when my sister-in-law called to follow up they told her it was pending investigation by their billing department. When I called and spoke they said they were processing it today. Just a total lack of professionalism compared to last year with the doctor they saw. Hopefully they can work towards being better

Straub Benioff Medical Center - Hawaii Kai Clinic

Straub Benioff Medical Center - Hawaii Kai Clinic

This was my first visit (and probably my only visit) to the Straub Benioff Medical Center - Hawai'i…read moreKai Clinic because my GYN, whom I've been a patient of for the past 30-plus years, had transferred from Kapi'olani Medical Center on Honolulu's Punahou Street. Admittedly, since moving into the Kaka'ako neighborhood, I've been spoiled by the short 2-mile drives from my home to Kapi'olani Medical Center, where my women's health care physicians are located. In the past, I've never had to travel any further than 8 miles to Kapi'olani Medical Center. However, because I was still recovering from my total knee replacement surgery, which was done in late July, I had to reschedule my annual September exam for my lady-bits to December. In June, when I called the women's health clinic to reschedule the yearly exam, the receptionist notified me that my GYN (Dr. Gary Kimoto) was transferring his practice to the Straub Benioff Medical Center - Hawaii Kai, and that scheduling patient visits past September wasn't available yet. The receptionist recommended that I call again in September to check availability for December. Of course, his office did inform me there were several other physicians within the Kapi'olani Women's Health Clinic who I could select for either an earlier appointment in October or November at the convenient Honolulu medical center, but, since I wasn't in a rush for an appointment and out of respect, I preferred to have Dr. Kimoto provide a referral. Anyway, I got the directions to this Hawai'i Kai Clinic from one of the receptionists, who gave succinct instructions to drive and turn left onto Lunalilo Home Road from Kalaniana'ole Highway, turn into the driveway and parking lot where the Taco Bell is located, and look towards the mountainside of the parking lot for the covered walkway. Fortunately, we had a 30-minute leisurely drive to East O'ahu during mid-morning, didn't encounter heavy traffic, and arrived 20 minutes before the anticipated check-in time. Upon entering the clinic, five receptionists were either handling phone calls or attending to walk-in patients. One of the friendly receptionists greeted me, and I informed her of my appointment time and provided her with my identification and medical insurance cards. She verified that all the information was on file and pointed towards the patient lobby on my left. I waited no longer than 15 minutes when Dr. Kimoto's nurse assistant, Victoria, came out to escort me to an examination room. While following her from the lobby to the exam rooms, I started to feel like I was in a labyrinth and did my best to look for clues that would lead me out. Unlike sitting in a cold examination room at the medical center while having my vitals taken and verifying my medical information, the exam room was comfortable, warm, and cozy. I was so relaxed that even my blood pressure and pulse rate, which are usually elevated due to "white coat syndrome," were at low levels like when I was an avid runner. LOL! If I lived in East O'ahu and needed convenient, compassionate, and quality health care with friendly service, I'd recommend this clinic. However, I don't know whether this clinic is equipped to handle major medical emergencies or procedures.

Called to schedule an appointment for my mom. A woman named Penny was super condescending and rude…read more Anyway, she just went on to say that the first available appointment was in July. I said ok and as she was scheduling, she then said actually September, oh no actually October. Seriously??? The first available appointment is in October??? That's in 7 months!! That is so ridiculous. Who do they think they are?? I scheduled anyway. Then I called Queens medical in Hawaii kai and their first available was next week!! Obviously we are going there and the gentleman helping me was super polite and respectful. Do better Straub.

update 7/30/26 Pros. Super nice staff, nice P.A. and etc. Cons=They never answer the phone for ?…read morereasons. I'm a retired doc and used to work Urgent Care (we called it urgent scare;) moon lighting...this clinic does NOT give any real treatment, can't read x rays, and labs/xrays are through Castle hospital and then they will call w/results DAYS later? So--ON SITE-there is nothing for URGENT care, NO DOC, only a P.A. or NP. So no complex suturing, (sign says simple lacerations but I don't think they suture), no reading X-rays etc. The Castle facility across the hall does the X-rays but no one there can READ them in the Urgent Care clinic? Unbelievable. I read my own and had a shattered big toe, comminuted=pieces. When they finally called a few DAYS later he said I broke my toe; FORGOT to say 'comminuted', as that is not just a BREAK--that is shattered into several pieces and many times needs pining/surgery to fix. The Radiologist DID say 'comminuted, slightly displaced' but whomever called me NEVER mentioned the MOST important part of that X-ray result! No mention at all! OMG! If I had not read it myself when it was taken (the Castle tech is EXCELLENT at reading but can't say anything 'officially';), and believed it was just a simple break where you 'buddy tape' to the next toe? That could have been VERY BAD. They also do not do referrals? What? So if they have ...let's say, a knee injury or back injury they treat acutely...needing ortho eval...they will not refer? That is highly unusual and I have never heard of an urgent care center that does not refer, does not have any lab results on site, and the staff cannot read a simple X-ray--as no docs! So, they can only do whatever is EASY, non URGENT --very unusual, and useless for ANY injuries. At least in an ER, you may wait, but you will know something is fractured then, x rays READ, (and also officially thru the radiologist later), treated, and also be referred if needed. I'd NOT go here unless it is something really simple, covid tests etc. until they are staffed properly! YES! The staff is nice, so got 5 stars but LACK of treatment ability is ZERO stars=3 stars...sorry! Any UC Clinic usually does urgent cases, sutures, reads xrays, does basic labs on site etc. An UC clinic w/o any docs, can't truly DO anything urgent! As I said, VERY unusual. And, NICE staff. It's not their fault that it is not staffed fully! aloha

I visited Windward Urgent Care on Tuesday, April 21 for concerning symptoms. I clearly described…read morethem to the provider, but my concerns were brushed off with what felt like a lazy and dismissive attitude. I was sent home without adequate evaluation or follow-up instructions. Unfortunately, my symptoms worsened, and just two days later I had to go to the ER, where I received the care and attention I needed. This delay could have been avoided with more thorough attention during my urgent care visit. I understand urgent care can be busy, but patients deserve to be taken seriously -- especially when they're seeking help for real issues. I hope the team uses this as an opportunity to improve listening, diagnostic diligence, and patient communication. I will not be returning to this location and would caution others to consider all options carefully when symptoms feel significant
