The airport is clean, open and spacious with plenty of seats with outlets. It is United Airlines' major hub and one of my preferred airline. My first leg landed in Terminal A and my connecting flight departs at Terminal B. The train that connects to terminals comes frequently but it's a good walk. Although there are moving walkways throughout the airport, it can take up to 25 minutes to go from Terminal A to B depending on your assigned gate number. Keep that in mind if you have a short connection. I wouldn't spend too much time at the lounge or restaurant. I happened to have a 3 hour layover and able to take my time at the Capital One Lounge (I wrote a separate review for the lounge.) before my next flight. There are so many shops, food, and nice restaurants at DEN. You wouldn't be bored if you have time to kill or flight delayed. I'll definitely go out of my way to make a connection at DEN in the future.

It is still not as good as Terminal B, but we need to fly different airlines for different destinations. I will always take a non-stop flight option over a trip with a connecting flight. I have missed events at my destination, even with flying a day earlier than required, when a connection fails due to weather, computer failures in route management or anything else, like lack of available crew at the connection location. This has happened to me in the last 5 years and I will not take such a chance again. One problem that continues at all of the DEN Terminals, is lack of repairs and maintenance in every restroom I have used for as many years as I can remember. It is not so across the country. In just his past year, I have found that both DTW (Detroit) and BDL (Hartford CT) have made this care for travelers and staff, a priority. I want DEN to do so too. In the meantime, use all the new food options, know that the misleading ads for Olive and Finch, a Denver favorite, which makes it appear that there is a real location near the high number gates at Termina A, is merely a fixed kiosk with a self serve grocery store sales station to check yourself out. I saw nothing of interest to buy. If your gate is that far out, buy before you get there. The escalator hub and the lower numbered gates have far more to offer. We used Einstein Bagels and Caribou Coffee and carried our purchases out to the gate on our most recent trip.

When arriving at DEN, you will exit the airplane into one of the three Concourses listed as A, B, or C. I arrived on Southwest in Concourse C. I made sure to make use of two of those long, horizontal travelators (moving walkways). Then took the escalators down twice to get to the train. Took the train to the Terminal and then took the escalators up twice to get me to the Baggage Claim area. On the plane we were told our luggage would be at Carousel 9, but without notice, they switched it to Carousel 7. A nice man told me there was a switch and my bag was one of four left on the stopped carousel. After retrieving my bags, I had to take the escalators down to get to the Arrivals pick-up area. It is quite confusing! It's difficult to decide whether or not I am a fan of those white pointy canopies or not. From the inside, I couldn't understand the aesthetics. Reminds me of the circus' big top, but with many mini-tops! Those canvas tops represent two things: the snow-capped mountains and the Native American tepees. Elrey Borge Jeppesen was an aviator who set standards for safety in the early days. There's an exhibit located on level 6 at the north end of the terminal. I missed finding it! In one of my TSA pictures, to the left of the American Flag, there's a statue, I think that is where I should have gone. Didn't realize it until I got home and looked closely at my pictures. Jeppesen moved from Salt Lake City to Denver in 1941. He is an important figure in the Colorado aviation history. According to the internet, there are 6 levels in this terminal. As I wandered, it only felt like 3 levels. I was in shock with how crowded TSA was at 9AM on the floor below where I entered after being dropped off. You can get a good view of both sides, North & South. Thanks to my son, he told me I could go to "The Bridge". I stayed on the entrance level and walked over to the bridge and eased my way through the very short TSA Checkpoint lines. Yay!! In going this way, I was already at Concourse A. I only needed to take the Train past Concourse B to Concourse C where my gate was. If you read this and it is helpful for you when you leave Denver, you're welcome! I'm one of those odd people who wants to explore the airport rather than solely use it for travel. I arrived at the airport early for my flight home so I could see the shops! The plane was beginning the boarding process when I arrived at Concourse C! I just about took too long meandering!

From aircraft cleaners, baggage handlers, customer service Reps, Skilled Aviation & Ground Mechanics, to the Pilots and non-contract management that coordinates the global and domestic schedules of this United Team. I see bright Stars that shine through the unforeseen delays, misconnects and occasional human missteps that fall short of expectations. I have a great respect for those that make United rise above the trials & troubles that come and go. I especially have a great respect and honor for those hero's that were apart of the 9-11 tragedy that effected or our nation and the loss of souls on board both United and American Airlines, that fateful day in history. While there is always room for improvement, United continues to grow, reinvent and yet stay true to their values of Quality, Safety, Unity and emulate the excellence of service in the Friendly Sky's! Thank you United for your heartfelt dedication of Uniting our world!

We used United Airlines on our most recent trip. It is one of the two airlines we use most often…read more Our experiences were different on our eastbound trip from that on our westbound trip home. Everything on our departing flight could not have been more perfect. We had a very new jet with updated interior seating. We left on time, the weather was very good and the staff could not have been nicer. The snacks are more meager than our other preferred airline, but the options suited most others seated near me. We had excellent help from TSA and from United as I used a wheelchair for airport mobility for the first time. I hope I will not need it for our next trip. We landed on time in Hartford at BDL and were met by our friends who were picking us up. We had not checked bags so we merely had to walk out the door to meet them. There had been plenty of room for our carryons. Our return from Hartford could not have been more different. We had booked the same class seats in almost the same row. These seats were older and the bottom cushion of my seat was broken or detached from the back cushion. The plane was so full, there would not have been an option to relocate, so I said nothing. They had to take a lot of carryons from the back rows of passengers and send them through as "checked." We did not have to relinquish ours, which played out later for those who surrendered theirs. We took off on time but we knew we were heading to Denver during afternoon thunderstorm predictions. The snacks were even more meager. When we got close to Denver, the pilot alerted us that there had been some storms and ground stops already and we would be circling for quite some time. He thought we had enough fuel to do so. We spent about 2 hours coasting and bumping over Texas and New Mexico, seat belt signs on all the time. None of this was United's fault, of course. But it led to much discomfort on the plane. Finally the pilot told us that refueling had become necessary so we were landed in Grand Junction to do so. We were not allowed off of the plane because GJT does not have TSA in the evenings. But at least we could get out of our seats, stand or walk a bit to stretch our legs and use what water and snacks we had left of our own supplies. The flight attendants had nothing more to offer. People with a nearby destination were able to call for pickup by friends since GJT had no rental cars, and never has one way rental options. Also, no checked luggage could be dispensed. About 6 people got up and left with only their carry on. The staff had no resources but were as nice as they could be under the circumstances. We finally arrived in Denver, a little after midnight, 5 hours late. I am not sure even a cancelled flight could have turned out better. They made the choice to fly, being optimistic. I was relieved to be home by 1am. I would never want to repeat this event though. Just bad luck, but a nicer plane and more snacks and drinks would have been nice. It is a guess on how to rate this, so I am giving the best guess for an average of the 2 flights.

Sadly this location came up first on the list but in fact, I believe I was at East. I will try to relocate the review when I have access to a computer after this trip. When you know you need help getting through TSA with special accommodations, set it up in advance with TSA Cares. Because I was carrying through medications that cannot be X-Rayed, an agent was assigned to us in advance to walk us through. He met us as we arrived at the airport and was exceptional at getting us to the prearranged wheelchair pickup at United. He handled our ID scans and explained everything as we went through. He walked my medical pack through and returned it to me after we cleared. I can't thank John enough for all the help. When I have the opportunity, I will fill out the follow up from TSA. Yes, the airport was crowded this morning and they had asked us to come almost an hour earlier than normal as there are so many travelers like me, needing help to access an important trip. Thanks to John, I am sitting at the gate with comfortable seating and time to even write this review while my husband is out looking for his coffee. This new part of the A Gates concourse is amazingly still spotless. But that's for my airport review!

After passing through the full-body scanner and cleared, a young woman (mid-twenties?) comes up to me after I had retrieved my carry-on from the belt. Accompanied by a female TSA officer who looked younger than she was, she asked me if I would record her pat down. I said sure (I was in no rush). The young woman is clearly nervous, but the officer didn't help by telling her rudely to set her bag on the table. After pulling on a pair of gloves, she asks if she (the young woman) has ever been patted down before. No, it's her first time. Of course, the officer has to say (rudely), "Well, this one's going to be pretty through. I'm going to have to pat down your whole body with my hands, including sensitive areas." She then proceeded to quickly run through the procedures and told the woman to turn around, spread her legs, and put her arms out, palms up. What followed, I could only describe as a groping. The woman was wearing an oversized tee and black Lululemon leggings. The officer, from the back, said she was going to lift her shirt up to the top of the waistband. Fine. Then she said she was going to "use her fingers and pinch around the waistband to search you." It was not a pinch. The officer used her fingers to GRAB the leggings and pull them away from the body, more like. After finishing that, she proceeded to run her full hand across the INSIDE of the waistband! And boy, she put her hands pretty far up the "upper thigh". Both the back and front waistband and thigh checks were equally invasive. And her hand that was up in the thigh stayed up there when she searched...actually, I think it did. She put her hand so high up I couldn't even see the blue of her gloves. And mind you, the poor young woman is wearing skin-tight black leggings. I understand they need to check, but sheesh! But the chest pat down was the worst. Can't believe it actually happened like this. Officer first placed her left hand on the woman's shoulder, then her other hand straight up and down between the breasts, and proceeds to go up and down multiple times before sweeping below the bra line (for both sides). She then hesitated before moving on and used THE FRONT OF HER HAND to feel below the bra. She tells the woman "I need to check this area thoroughly, I think I feel something. Do you have anything concealed underneath your bra?" WHAT????!!! She then uses her hands with "significant pressure to ensure detection", as she put it, under the bra for a good five minutes, before finally clearing the area and moving on to finish the pat down. She also told the woman rudely not to wear leggings as they are "so tight and we officers have to make sure you're not hiding anything underneath, and we gotta check." TERRIBLE! Do bad I can't see the officer's badge, but she looked college-aged with her blond hair in a bun and was wearing the long-sleeved uniform shirt and blue gloves, obviously.
