Thank goodness for Skylink!…read more If you ever traveled through Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) you would be amazed at the shear size of this airport. This morning when I was catching my flight home, I swear my flight was leaving from Terminal C, but when I checked in at American Airlines at DFW, my actual flight was leaving from Terminal A. What to do??? Skylink my friends....... Just watch for the signs within the airport terminal for the Skylink, take the escalator up to the top of the airport terminal and jump on the orange rail thingy. The Skylink rail car does have a few seats, but it's mostly for riders to stand. Using Skylink rail is a very convenient way to get around this massive airport, especially if you're in a rush to navigate between the airport terminals.

For the 90 min I paid for there is a good chance that we were only moving for about 30 minutes which is not what was advertised as a "Fun train ride for kids". The 3-4 things they did with the dinosaurs was...fine...honestly if they tried to make it less gimmicky it would have been better. If the train had run longer vs the constant stopping and starting, having dedicated people to each train car teaching or having crafts for the kids to do while they learn would have been worlds better.

Our most recent flight transfer through Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) was an…read moreextremely upsetting experience with TSA. Although we both have Global Entry, we were randomly selected to go through regular security screening. At first, we had no reason to question it. When we first approached the TSA PreCheck personnel, she told us that our digital boarding passes did not show PreCheck and that we needed to go through regular security. To save time, we went to the American Airlines desk and requested paper boarding passes. When we brought them back, the TSA personnel told us that she had just learned that we had been "randomly" marked for regular security screening. We then went to the regular security checkpoint, which had a much longer line and took approximately four times longer than the PreCheck line. When we finally reached the metal detectors, however, we were instructed to line up for the X-ray scanner instead. The woman directly in front of us was allowed to go through the regular metal detector, while we were directed to the scanner. Then, people behind us were also sent to the scanner, while other passengers were allowed to continue through the metal detector. At that point, we began noticing a very disturbing pattern. The people being held back and directed to the scanner appeared to be African American, Asian, or Hispanic, while the passengers being allowed through the metal detector appeared to be white. We understand that TSA screening can be random, but seeing this pattern unfold right in front of us was extremely difficult to ignore. It felt like blatant racial profiling. After this experience, I now question whether we were truly "randomly" selected in the first place. We have taken more than 10 flights since getting Global Entry, and this was the first time we were ever "randomly" selected for regular security screening. We genuinely believed it was simply a random screening until we experienced what happened at the security checkpoint. Because of the additional screening, we lost valuable time during our connection. We had only about 1 1/2 hours between flights, and by the time we finally cleared security, the boarding closing time printed on our boarding passes had just passed. We panicked and ran to the nearest American Airlines desk. Thankfully, a staff member checked our flight and kindly assured us that the flight was delayed and that boarding had just started. We then ran from Terminal D to Terminal B, including taking the airport train, and barely made it in time for boarding. We had no opportunity to use any of the airport amenities, restaurants, or shops, so unfortunately, we cannot comment on those. What we can comment on is how upsetting and unacceptable it was to feel that we were treated differently because of our race. No traveler should have to experience this. I sincerely hope DFW and TSA will look into how passengers are being selected and directed through these screening lines.

It's a pretty terminal with a lot of different food options, but there is a big lack of seating at…read morethe gates and most likely if you have a full flight you'll need to stand and wait for boarding. This airport also has one of the worst baggage claim systems i've seen yet with stuff from multiple flights being piled on to the same belt at the same time so it takes forever to get your stuff. In positives, the shuttles to hotels and the rental car pavilion come around pretty often so you don't have to wait around for too long. Overall it's a decent airport, it's no Laguardia but if you plan well i think you can avoid the negatives.

The $2 admission fee is fitting and you will probably spend about 20-30 minutes here. Good way to fill time before your noon Grapevine express to the stockyards on the weekends. Only open Sat. and Sunday. This group also did the layouts at the Gaylord Texan. Those are pretty cool as well!

The projectors covered the walls with beautiful images in all three rooms. We opted for the VIP packages and wasted another $370 above and beyond the cost. Thru were pretty lace about monitoring and we would have been much better off. Overall, it was a pretty good experience, visually compelling, a beautiful entry way, a nice gift shop and amazing staff.

(On a side note, all the Uber and Lyft cars have made traffic worse in NYC where I live and there is no train option from LGA to the city) Unfortunately for me, I landed in Terminal E and you have to go to Terminal A to get the DART train, but the Skylink got me from E to A in under 10 minutes. Once at A, you need to exit on the lower level and follow the DART train signs. At the very end of the terminal, there is a path which takes you to the station. There are signs that indicate the time until the next train and also indicate the track. If you need tickets, there are machines (but I recommend downloading the GoPass app and just using your phone). The station is clean, the trains are clean, the announcements are clear. It is super easy to get downtown. When there is no traffic, you might save 15 minutes coming to the airport but at rush hour, you can breeze by on the train and watch the suckers killing the planet in their gas guzzling SUVs sitting in traffics like impotent tree sloths. (No hate on the SUV drivers out there!) The train takes you right through the heart of downtown so it is a short walk to hotels, attractions, etc. For $3 (for a half day pass) it is super fast, clean and easy to get into the city. From Akard St it took me about 50 minutes to/from the airport. Be green...be a hero...take the train!

The DART is clean, safe, quick, has extensive coverage, and comfortable. Every time I've ridden there was a cop at least part of the way. I would look at a map before you arrive and before you leave. If you're young you might have someone old show you what I mean by "looking at a map," and if you're old like me, have someone younger show you how to use Google maps- public transportation on your phone.
