I'm still so happy that DFW has this for our transportation between terminals. I find the cars to be clean and running very efficiently.

I actually really like the sky train.... it's easy and convenient. It also comes fairly often so you're never waiting for too long!

Best airport tram. Fast. Clean. On time. Signage and directions to gates. DFW has got people moving down.

Review Highlights - Dfw Airport Skytrain

The sky train is a great addition to your travel itinerary when you're trying to get from one terminal to the next.

The trains take off smoothly and stop smoothly as well. The trains are clean and look relatively new. There was nothing that we saw as an issue. It is a short walk from all parts of the terminal to the escalator taking you to the Skylink.

We were supposed to fly from Detroit to Phoenix to San Francisco, but my attentive brother thought he heard long-delay in the Detroit gate agent's otherwise cryptic PA announcement, so he spoke to her, and soon, the three of us (including my dad) were on a plane bound for DFW. DFW is awful, but that's for another review. Part of what makes DFW awful is its stupid modular design. The terminals are too far apart. There are too many ramps within the concourses themselves. Wait, I'm not reviewing the airport here. Anyway, we were forced to use Skylink, and while there are plenty of signs that point in the direction of the stations, the stations are really really really far from some of the gates. And when you get to a station, signs very unhelpfully inform you that this train goes to these two specific lettered concourses--and to (all?) other concourses. Don't do that. On signs. Don't say a small part and also a large part that includes that small part. It's needlessly confusing. Most thinking human beings understand that all concourses include, well, all concourses, so if a person is trying to go to Concourse E, it's confusing to see a sign that reads "All A and B Gates" followed by "All Gates." The train arrived relatively quickly, but the ride itself was horrible. It accelerates way too fast, and its movement around turns is jerky and chaotic. It feels more like a poorly planned, lesser amusement-park ride than any sort of mode of transportation for people with rolling luggage, let alone seniors just trying not to fall over because there isn't enough seating and not enough time to get to the limited seating that exists. Compared to AirTrain (SFO) and even The Plane Train (ATL), Skylink is just bad.

The DART is clean, safe, quick, has extensive coverage, and comfortable. Every time I've ridden there was a cop at least part of the way. I would look at a map before you arrive and before you leave. If you're young you might have someone old show you what I mean by "looking at a map," and if you're old like me, have someone younger show you how to use Google maps- public transportation on your phone.

It's a short walk from the A-1 end of the A terminal, just go downstairs on the elevator from baggage claim and follow the signs. It is highly likely that the fare machines won't work - it's been about 50/50. The train is modern but the seats are hard. It tends to provide shelter for many homeless on occasion; I've never had an issue but there are usually some disconcerting folks aboard. If you have to transfer try not to do it at one of the downtown stops - they are sketchey at best. Even if you have to overshoot by a stop or 2 and double back you'll feel safer. It's a metro area public transportation system - there are worse. Just keep aware of your surroundings and don't travel late night.
