Dr. Dewitt initially presented himself as caring and confident, assuring me he could fix everything and that I'd be able to eat normally again. Instead, my surgery led to repeated hospitalizations, starting with my first bowel obstruction just two days afterward. I went through constant complications, three PICC lines, and became septic from one of them. A J-tube was placed on December 22, 2023, which has caused ongoing problems and has been replaced around 40 times.
In April 2024, he dropped me as a patient after I left the hospital AMA during my third bowel obstruction, following being pressured to undergo a procedure twice while also dealing with a fractured vertebra that occurred in the hospital and was never addressed. I was accused of lying by both Dr. Dewitt and a radiologist regarding how contrast was administered, so I left. He later dismissed me via text, leaving me with a feeding tube and no care.
I have since found a new surgeon who has said she can't believe the condition I was left in and is now working to fix the damage. For the first time, I have real hope that I'll finally be able to eat again. read more
