I dropped off a ring for a simple engraving. It took a week-- fine since it wasn't a rush job, and the price was extremely reasonable ($20). I had asked for the ring to be oxidized, but they tried that and decided "it looked horrible" and removed it all. The engraving itself looked nice, but it was placed right up against a pre-existing stamp inside of the ring-- so this stamp (which the staff couldn't identify-- fine, since I bought the ring off the internet) looks like it's part of the engraving. There was plenty of room left inside the ring to distance it from this odd stamp, so that was frustrating. It's true that the staff perform friendliness very well, and I'm happy to support a local, family business, but some clarity in communication would have been good (like asking me: Hey, how close do you want your engraving to this weird stamp? Hey, do you want to look at it oxidized? 'Cause we think it's ugly). I would gladly pay more for a bit more consideration for these minor details that meant a great deal to me. read more

We have since moved across the country and after my ring was recently damaged, we mailed my ring to DeVries to have them fix it rather than a local jeweler because we knew they were people we could trust. I am really disappointed with how our first interaction with DeVries Jewelers went because a friend had recommended them. I went in with my fiancé to have my engagement ring resized because it was a bit too lose and as a sign language interpreter rings need to be fitted well. I asked to go one half size down and the gentlemen (who was a bit younger) laughed at me and told me "no, that was wrong I need a full size." He showed me the difference between the two, and I felt the size he recommended would be too small because even he struggled to get it off my finger. I explained that if it was too tight that would be problematic too especially with how much I use my fingers. He dismissed me until my fiancé restated what I already said. He then called a nice older (in comparison to who we were speaking to) gentleman who gave the same recommendation and then looked at the young man and laughed and said "what she didn't believe you?" I admittedly don't know much about rings or sizing but felt really unsure that it was the best choice, but after some more chastising I agreed to size it down a full size. The man continued to speak down to me and when I asked if they called when orders were completed he laughed and said "if I had to call on every tiny order like this I would never have time to do anything, so just come in next week". We recently got the ring back and it is so tight it leaves marks on my finger and is INCREDIBLY difficult to get off. I am mad at myself for allowing them to bully me into something I wasn't comfortable with and will definitely be going elsewhere to size my rings and to buy our wedding bands. I always hope to shop local, but I would encourage others to look elsewhere before trying DeVries. read more

These people were so friendly and accommodating! Everyone was dressed very professional, ties and button up shirts. I think Christian music was playing so that was cool. I went there to get my wedding rings resized and soddered. I told them I had a wedding to attend on Saturday so it would be great if they could finish my ring by Friday. When I went to pick it up on Friday at lunch, it ended up being too small (not their fault, I told them the wrong size). Thankfully, they were able to accommodate and resize it slightly larger by the end of the business day on Friday! I definitely recommend this place. I called here on a Saturday to ask about repairs to the face of an old Seiko watch I dropped. I mentioned I was hoping for a quick turnaround, and they said to bring it in to see what they could do. Even though they were about to close, one of the jewelers opened it up and dug around for a while, and told me he could have it ready by Monday afternoon--three days earlier than the three other shops I called. When I came in to pick it up, he had finished most of the repairs, but said he was going to contact Seiko to get a (purely aesthetic) replacement part because it had been too badly damaged from the fall to salvage. He gave me the watch back in working condition in the meantime, and refused to accept any payment for the work unless and until he could get the part. Outstanding service from warm, friendly people. I'll definitely be back, and not just to finish this repair. I recommend giving DeVries a try before the big name shops in the area. read more

Brought in a diamond ring I purchased in New York with a bent prong on it. This is the second time we've needed this type of repair. My New York Shop had the ring for two weeks and charged me over $100. Devries took three days and charged $30 and cleaned and polished beautifully. I love this jewelry store. I have been using them for over 20 years. I recently had them do some work on a ring that needed a bit of extra work. 2 different golds, that type of thing. It was so beautiful when they were done. I am so happy with the results. Their goldsmith does such beautiful work. It was also done at a very reasonable cost. I highly recommend them. These folks got a customer for life after the experience I had. I wanted to get a new center stone put in my engagement ring -- same size as the old one, just better quality. I called around to a few stores that said they worked with platinum and palladium and they all quoted me a price of about $200. They said that platinum and palladium were difficult to work with, and that there was a chance they could break the prongs and then I would be stuck with no stone in my ring and the setting would be busted. I called up Devries Jewelry Store and had to sound completely frazzled, they said to come on down and they would take a look. They quoted me $20-30 for the entire thing and said it would be done in 4 business days. Yes please! I got a call on day 4 saying my ring was done, but they found some cracks in the setting and asked if I would like them fixed. I said sure and went in the next day to pick it up. They didn't charge me any extra for fixing the setting and cleaned the ring for me too. It sparkles like crazy now and everyone I talked to was knowledgeable and friendly. If I could give zero stars, I would. We took a watch to be repaired and restored. It took two weeks to be repaired and restored. When we received the watch, it had completely different parts and components. It hardly looked the same. They offered a discount for the inconvenience and fixed properly. Another three weeks pass and when I went to pick up the watch, they would not honor the discount they originally offered us. The owner was very aggressive and tried to barter the price. They do not wear masks. It makes me wonder if their behavior was based on discrimination. It was such a sad experience and I would recommend going elsewhere. read more

In November 2015, I took Devries Jewery Store my old 14 and 18 carat gold jewelry and a platinum ring to sell. I also asked them to make a new ring using the diamonds from my engagement and wedding ring. They did not give me a receipt for my gold and platinum but said they would deduct the value from the cost of my ring. The ring was not ready before Chrismas as they promised. When I picked it up the day after Christmas I paid for the balance I owed with a credit card. They gave me a receipt but it was only for the amount billed on the credit card. I went back to the store and called five times asking for a receipt for the full amount of the ring and an appraisal and a warranty, There is no warranty. They said if it breaks or if stones fall out and I don't lose them, they will fix the ring. I have nothing in writing. Every one of the men I spoke with in person and on the phone laughed when they explained why they didn't send the appraisal and receipt as they promised they would, including Dan, one of the owners when I talked to him today I don't like to be laughed at when I pay hundreds of dollars for something and then have to beg for the paper work. I was a fool not to go to Siegels where we purchased my original engagement ring They would actually have given me a warranty for my ring and the stones because we purchased them there. read more

Just had an poor experience with their book keeper. Apparently they only update their books every 18 months or so. I was placed on a payment plan and they omitted deducting the last few months payments. Now, 16 months later they come calling to collect on a past due balance that should have been resolved over a year ago? Really? I can understand needing to settle up, and I am not upset about finishing paying for what should have been done over a year ago, simply disappointed in the manner to which they have conducted their transaction.
