Dr Devries has cared for our pets for over 20 years. This includes annual check ups, diagnosis and, unfortunately, the end of life. Through it all there is compassion and integrity. You feel like it's someone who truly loves animals. Our most recent 2 kitties were from a shelter and they provided the new pet exam, testing and services and worked with the shelter. I just wish they could treat humans. They're more personable than my regular doctor. read more

I recently changed vets and am so happy that I did. The staff welcomes you and adores your pet while you wait. My cat has a heart defect and they were terrific getting a specialist to check him. Everyone is very caring and patient when explaining any issues. Great place! read more

I have been coming to Devries ever since my German Shepherd was just a puppy. They are very thorough and friendly with the dogs. They only reason why I gave them 3 stars instead of 4/5 is because I use 800 Pets Meds and if there is something wrong with the prescription they gave me or they have questions, they REFUSED to talk to Pet Meds. So Pet Meds cancels my prder and calls me and tells me that they will not move forward with the order until their concerns are resolved or I need a new prescription etc. Its like double the work instaed of them actually answering the question. I feel if that is there policy then why not match Pet Meds prices? read more

Devries Animal Hospital is a complete rip off! Every time I brought my dog there they spent at least 30 minutes trying to sell me different products. My dog goes there for regular allergy shots and it costs $140. The doctor wants to charge me for an office visit even though he just saw my dog 2 months prior. They take my dog to the back room for her shot and I can't see them or go with but for some weird reason the shot only lasts 2 weeks instead of three months. They totally rip people off. I'm done with them. If you go there be prepared to be charged a lot!!! read more

I've been taking my cat to DeVries Animal Hospital for the last couple years. In addition to routine vaccinations, she's also had some significant dental procedures done there. The staff and vets are all very friendly and professional, and they don't try to upsell you on products like some other clinics. I have seen both Dr. Carr and Dr. DeVries, and they are both great. I deduct a star only because they are expensive, but its worth it to know my four-legged child is getting great care. read more

De Vries is a great hospital! We took out dog there for his puppy vax when we got him, and Dr. De Vries was very gentle and kind. It is expensive, but you have to remember that quality should always come before quantity. One thing I like, that other hospitals don't do, is they make your dog spend the night after a spay, as well as a neuter. Most other places will only do this for spays. This is a great thing because somebody can monitor your animal after it fully wakes from anesthesia and can catch any hemorrhaging or other problems that can go unnoticed by the average animal owner. Also, the food Dr. De Vries recommends is Nutro, which is a great pet food! Lot's of other places will try to sell you Science Diet or Iams (which are both pretty sub par when it comes to pet nutrition). read more

We have been taking our pets to Dr. DeVries for 18 years. Dr. DeVries is always very nice and does a very thorough examination of our pets. Dr. DeVries has performed surgery on our dog more than once and each time she was cared for perfectly and healed very quickly. Our newest puppy ate a lamp cord and Dr. DeVries acted very quickly, took care of her and she recovered right away. The staff is always very nice and answers our questions and are also very attentive. If I call when Dr. DeVries is not there, another doctor is very caring and answers all of our questions. I would be very wary of the review sending people to another vet in town, seems very suspicious. I would highly recommend DeVries Animal Hospital. read more

I normally don't write yelp reviews, but just wanted to support Dr. Devries and his Animal Hospital. Dr. Devries and his whole staff are absolutely dedicated to providing individually tailored treatment and care for my Boston Terrier. Everyone is friendly and remembers him by name from the second he walks in the door. They offer convenient hours and there's usually an appointment time open quickly, even in a pinch. As other reviewers have pointed out, they are a little expensive, but as with most things in life, you get what you pay for. I'm happy to spend a few extra dollars for the type of care and services offered at Devries. read more

I've been taking multiple pets here for years. I actually now live in the city, but I travel all the way from downtown to this office as there's nothing as good as it for my pet. I truly don't understand the negative reviews here, I've read every one and I've never myself had anything even close to a similar experience as they've described. No matter what vet I've seen, they've all been extremely thorough, responsive, and kind. Sadly, years ago we took our beloved family dog there to say our goodbye's. They handled this deeply sad moment with the utmost integrity and sensitivity. I will forever take my dogs here because I love them so much and I want only the best for them. Impressed. I scheduled an appointment for a vet to see my large dog re: a second opinion about a growth that had been checked by another local vet. Dr. Daly was very friendly and respected my dogs initial apprehension to being checked. Very patient and it didn't take long for him to warm up and trust her. She was thorough with her examination. I had taken my dog to his regular vet not even 2 weeks before and she told me more about my dog than my old vet had ever mentioned. She addressed my concerns and was after investigation, told me of other potential issues I never knew. The facility was clean and very transparent with what they were doing at all times. Since our visit, we left our old vet and now use DeVries and Dr. Daly as our veterinarian. read more

Awful, AWFUL customer service and worse veterinary practice. I was told my dogs blood work would be available first thing Monday morning (draw taken on Saturday) and I would be contacted IMMEDIATELY because of the urgency of my dogs condition. I was never called, so I called for the results around 10:30am, I was told the results were on the doctors desk and she would contact me ASAP. Well, I had to call back 3 times after that and STILL, never got a call back. I had to actually go in to the office on my way home from work and walked in the door at 5:45pm where I luckily saw the doctor that originally saw us at the desk, and was told "I was just about to call you!" Of course you were, now that I'm standing in your f***ing lobby..... The only reason I even came here in the first place was because of the high reviews, and I would definitely question those if you are looking for a vet. The "doctor" I saw told me on two separate visits to go to VCA because they did not have the ability to help treat my dog. In my experience, this place is an overpriced, glorified nail salon, if you have any serious issues, be prepared to get charged $100 for an office visit just to be told to go someplace else. Our dog was very sick and our regular Vet was closed so DeVries took us in same day as a new patient, which was much appreciated. As it turned out, our dog had to be put down and Dr Daly was the kindest, most caring Doctor. Made the experience a little easier to handle. Too bad we won't be going back, we'll be staying pet-free. Though the service was pleasant, they charged $162 of which $27.50 was for a nail trim and then the rest on an examination and just a bordatella shot. I thought goods and services were generally more affordable in the suburbs than in the city. Guess not. I spent the good part of the hour visit in the waiting room, waiting for another dog to leave the lobby. Don't think I'd go back for regular vaccinations and check ups for these prices. read more

I have been there twice now, and each time I go I am VERY overcharged. My last vet visit with my dog included her annual exam, vaccines, and some antibiotics for her ear and I paid $400. This was not even including her flea, tick, and heartworm meds. I compared my charges to other vets and it seems that everything was upcharged at least by double at DeVries!! Not only did I pay a fortune for everything, I was told that the antibiotics I was given (that I paid $82 for) were "specially made" and mixed up by a tech there and that it was uniquely made for my dog and her ear infection. Come to find out, I could have gotten the EXACT SAME medication on 1-800PetMeds for $35. I compared each vaccine to other vets as well as her exam price and every single one was at least double in price at DeVries. I also got poor customer service when I arrived there. No one even acknowledged me at the front desk (only 1 other customer was at the desk, with 4 employees around) for at least 10 minutes of me being there. I would not recommend you waste your money going here. The only thing good about it is that it's close to home. read more

The people were nice but because I'm putting my kitten down in less then 8hrs I can't give them a good review. First off I've had my brother/sister kitties since they were barely 3months and they've been in perfect health. I brought my baby girl here 6 weeks ago, I don't have a vet for my kitties because they're so young and I hadn't needed one (shots and such were taken care of when adopted) Well I knew something was wrong with her, and my friend was keeping both my cats and in elmhurst, so I brought my girl kitty here. They pretty much told me my cat was going through separation anxiety and was stressed, understandable she was staying with my friend while I was in the process of moving. They also said she seemed to be developing a bladder infection so they gave me am antibiotic to give her. The last thing, I was told my cat was "constipated" ...yeah, no, my cat has a tumor in her intestines and is being put down because it's incurable. If that mistake hadn't been made those 6 weeks ago I may not have to put down my 1yr old baby that I love with all my heart and her brother wouldn't be alone with no playmate, his only sibling. read more

AVOID THIS CLINIC!!! I've taken my dog to several local vets and chose this one because of a coupon that was mailed to me. $84 later, all they did was weigh my dog and take her temperature. At the time of payment, they refused to accept the coupon they'd mailed to me even though the receptionist, vet assistant and vet were aware of my intent to use it. I explained the misunderstanding to three different staff members before hearing from the clinic owner (Dr. DeVries) himself. Though he apologized and accepted blame, he still refused to refund any part of what I'd paid. Way overpriced for shoddy care and minimalist treatment. Try the clinic on North Avenue in Elmhurst where they actually care about your pet instead of emptying your wallet. read more
