As part of our end year rewards, my team at work was rewarded with $500 to spend on a delicious feast to celebrate our time together as we were all parting ways. We have worked hard and pushed to earn this lunch, so needless to say we had been looking forward to this for months!
Our Team Leader was so confident he made a supreme choice with Devour It, that he put in $120 of his own cash! He's a lovely man. He had spent quite a bit of time looking at restaurant menus and other catering companies as well as corresponding with someone at Devour It to ensure everyone's tastes were adhered to.
Today was the day, hump day, we all agreed that the feast would be plentiful so we would not eat breakfast and wait for the catering at midday to over indulge, we were after all anticipating an all day graze, as $620 divided among 14 people seemed too grand to imagine. 11:55AM tummies grumble...
Just after 12, a gentleman dropped off the food, almost instant disappointment, it looked unsavoury though we remained optimistic. We had ordered mini burgers, pizzettes, fish, pies, sushi, Turkish bread & dips, satay skewers, spring rolls, chicken fillets and arancini balls (they call them risotto balls) though what we got looked like they were picked up from 7/11 on the way up. That would probably explain the cost.
Anything chicken was inedible, it was so over cooked it tasted like an old bike tyre smeared in fat. The spring rolls was half soggy half burned, the sushi was droopy, everything was over seasoned and absolutely unappetising. We all pushed through it though, lest we disappoint our TL, however it soon became apparent that he too felt the sting of Devour It's abysmal food. I don't believe they made their dips or sauce from scratch but I didn't eat enough to really gage that, everything was literally inedible and we all felt nauseous afterwards.
Downtrodden our TL emailed Devour it, assuming something must have gone wrong and requesting some sort of explanation for the pig slop they had charged $620 for. Devour It responded defiantly and offering no restitution. This has ruined our day, wasted money and been a total incorrect use of calories.
It worked out to $44.20 each, please see my photo for what that got us.
I have not given many one stars in my 6 years writing for Yelp, I can only recall a handful, I am sorry I can't give this business a zero. Terrible quality products, no value for money and potentially the worst; the service or lack there of.
