I called for a same-day massage, and got an early evening appointment (another bonus -- services on St. Simons can shut down as early as 4 pm [#IMeanReally??]) for a 90-minute deep tissue with Megan, who. Is. Awesome. I mean, BEYOND. FYI: I prefer a super-deep tissue massage with very strong hands -- I have a muscular frame and it takes serious pressure to get my knots unwound. At first I was concerned that 90 minutes wouldn't be long enough to GET all of them OUT this go-round, but Megan delivered one of the best massages I have ever had (on three continents). And I had serious issues with tension in my lower back and hip flexors! She recommended a warm bath with Epsom Salt as follow up for my newly-knotless frame, which was a great idea, but I didn't. . . and I still felt awesome the next day!!! Balance isn't a white-robe-and-fluffy-slippers kind of Fifth Avenue Major Spa Moment, but the decor is clean, makes an effort and is perfectly fine.

I hope one day this will be covered by private insurances. as It works just as well as chiropractic care. By the way, it is affordable. Not crazy expensive. You would be surprised at the cost. Rental was quick and easy, taking maybe two minutes. This shop is priced just a bit higher than the older bike rental (the one adjacent to mini-golf), but the Wheel Fun folks are nicer, quicker, and easier to deal with (the other shop has an old guy who will try to talk you OUT of renting a surrey!). By the way, the double-surrey is huge fun. It's not hard to pedal or drive at all. My family has done this two years in a row now. It's a great way to see the island.

I could not have asked for a better experience! Only $15 per 45-min youth clinic! My son's lessons were at Epworth Park on SSI, easy free parking right by the courts. My son was so excited for his lesson every time. Miss Sarah and her helpers are very skilled at instruction. Every time Sarah corrected my son's grip he had a good shot on the next try. As long as he listened to Sarah and the other instructors he did beautifully, especially for a 4yo playing his first time! These ladies are GREAT with kids, and they have really creative fun drills disguised as games, which the kids LOVED! If you aren't sure your kid will like/is ready for tennis, Sarah has rackets available for anyone to use if you don't have your own. The most convenient part about these lessons is you can pay as you go, and cherry pick your weeks according to your schedule. Most local kids go once per week, but we were on vacation and wanted to get more lessons in, so we did twice per week. No problem! As long as she has room Sarah will get you in. Oh and payment was very easy with Venmo. Compared to tennis clinics in the Philadelphia area where I'm from, St Simons Tennis Academy is a steal for the quality of instruction and facilities. I am excited to have Sarah and her team as part of our vacations from now on!

Water parks near me in the Philly area are usually huge, with major traffic, and thereby annoying…read moreand gross! I was so relieved to find Summer Waves offers a smaller, cleaner, more-personal, less-dangerous water park experience. We found it to be exactly that. Though Jekyll is close to a tropical climate, the water park is only open in warmer months (May-Sept). Inclement weather is an issue in their part of the country at that time of year. At least a month of the time Summer Waves is open is hurricane season. There are clear rain policy rules, which kinda stink but are for everyone's safety. One day we called to verify they were open only to show up TEN MINUTES LATER and be turned away at the gate due to thunderstorms. Luckily we were staying 5min away but can you imagine driving farther? And paying $10 island toll for that? The next day weather was great and my husband and son had a ball. They'd planned to stay 2 hours but lasted 6! My 7yo was a little intimidated by the enclosed taller slides but he got over it after trying them and they covered every attraction in the park except the baby/toddler stuff. They did the lazy river over and over! I saw pictures/reviews of the traffic and chaos in July, wow! Go in late August (when local kids are back to school and the park is only open weekends) and it's perfect! They waited 5min at most, and that happened once. It was just step up and go! It's not huge but it's up-to-date, clean, uncrowded at the right times, and very reasonably priced under $30pp. No bugs (Jekyll has a huge dragonfly population to rid pesty bugs), good breeze on most days. Make sure to reapply sunscreen. My son got burnt for the first time in his life despite full application of spf 25 (which kept him white as a sheet for weeks prior on Jekyll's beaches), but the park uses salt water and is very exposed to the sun so take heed. All in all a great experience!
