Some people in ridiculous shape, some trying to get back to healthy. If you've done Crossfit, then you know what to expect. This place is great. If you're new to Crossfit, throw out your pre-conceived negative expectations because Crossfit isn't just random guys and girls doing intimidating barbell movements. You'll push yourself, but do so comfortably. Crossfit can seem intimidating if you're new to working out, especially in a group setting or if barbells or kettlebells are new to you, but once you go, you'll see it's really not that scary. No one is going to make you put a barbell over your head (for example). That's peer pressure, but not Crossfit. There are progressions, so you can work your way up, and also, they'll modify for you if something is out of your comfort zone due to mobility, age, strength, injury, etc. Coaches are welcoming, as are the members. Bonus: Located behind Tasa Coffee.

We came to Los Lagos on day two after deciding to go with a cheaper option. Let me say, we all have buyers remorse. The round was $75 per person, which is still high for the quality of course. The tee boxes were very difficult to even get a tee in to. The sand traps were hard and compacted and have nearly as much grass as sand. There were dirt patches on the middle of the fairway for no reason. The redeeming quality of the course were the staff. Customer service was excellent throughout, which eased the burden slightly. On the particular day I went, on a a Sunday evening about 6:30 pm, there was only one other shooter. It's about 7 miles towards Oatman from AZ 95, past the landfill. You turn off the main paved road onto a dirt road and then to the gates. If you're a member, you enter in your code and the gates open up, then drive the dirt road and turn left before the trap shooting parking entrance to the rifle and handgun ranges. I don't go on public hours so you'll have to check in somewhere... You find your parking spot and sign in at the book between the two ranges. I like that you can back up your truck right to where you set up with concrete tables and wooden benches. There's also a shaded area between the parking lot and the shooter's tables. There are some steel targets and you can set up paper targets if you want. I just wanted to break in a few of my FA's and my AR. Being an outdoor range and in the AZ desert, it can get hot. When I went in the late afternoon, it was a pleasant 89F with the sun at about 9 o'clock on my left. The only other shooter was pleasant and we waved at each other. There is much respect here. You are required to pick up your brass ( either to take home for re-loads or to put in the buckets for the range to resell so that they can offset some of the cost of the maintenance ) but only your brass. Taking brass found in the shooters area or around you that is not yours is stealing. This is a park that gets some funding from the NRA to support its operations, so it's important you sign in when staff is not there so the range can submit its public and private utilization numbers. I shot about 500 total rounds this go round and had a blast doing so. I especially like that I was basically on my own in my own private world exploring the limits of my FA's on a warm AZ evening just before sunset.
