Former location of Devil and Angel

This location is permanently closed a month or two ago. I'm not sure of the exact date.

Had their glacé fruit or frozen candied fruit for $6.50+, for 3 grapes and 2 strawberries = poor value and horrible quality. Service was worse. Walked in and no one was there--waited a bit--finally had to call out "hello?" Never planning to go back and cannot recommend.

Strawberry and grape tanghulu
Dung N.

I didn't get to try tanghulu when I was in Japan last year, so when I went shopping at Fashion Valley, I asked these two girls where they got them. I ventured to this shop and got the strawberry and grape ones! They were delicious and surprisingly not too sweet! I was craving for this treat again recently and came back to get some more!

Though the place is very new, brightly colored and clean, I was disappointed by the boba my friend and I got after the movies. The boba pearls themselves were very hard and hard to enjoy. I got the strawberry matcha which had good flavor but the caffeine is really strong and gave me a headache sadly. Service was great and very fast (no one else was in there but us) and I'm sure the other menu items are better to get like the shaved ice and tanghulu.

I haven't tried any Dubai chocolate in general so I can't compare that to this dessert BUT I don't have to cuz THIS WAS SO GOOD!! Highly recommend!! The strawberry's tasted fresh & the Dubai take on chocolate covered strawberries in a cup is a fun idea! Really tasty! I recommend. The girl who helped me pay seemed nice as well. I can't wait to come back again

Royal Milk Tea
Hahudy B.

One of the worst milk teas I have ever tried. I purchased the Royal Milk Tea. In the image, it depicted the drink as an appetizing brown sugar tea drink, yet the actual product was far more disappointing. The drink had no taste and only tasted like watered down tea. Boba balls didn't have a good texture and no flavor whatsoever. Couldn't adjust the sugar level as well. However, despite there not being levels for the ice, they did not skimp on the amount of milk tea. Overall, disappointing experience for $7 and wouldn't even come for the BOGO deal.

Strawberry Uber swirl
Curt T.

I got the ube and strawberry ice cream. The flavors were there but it was icy VS creamy so I probably wouldn't get it again. Good amount for the value so that's good. The boba drinks seemed very sugary and not much matcha flavor even though it was ordered with 25% sugar. Service was friendly.

Dubai chocolate strawberries (fantastic) and frozen fruit with a sugar coating (not great).

The service was excellent. The Dubai chocolate strawberries were fantastic! Wish they had it listed on the regular menu. I the frozen fruit covered in sugar was not good.

We were shopping at the mall and got hungry so we popped in here and we're so glad we did! My daughter was in heaven with all of the delectable choices. She settled on a Cookie Monster doughnut with blue frosting-a dream snack for an 8-year old. We also got some soft serve ice cream and they swirled it for us. Perfect place for a sugar fix after a long day of shopping. Cute restaurant and friendly staff.

Tanghulu
Emma W.

I stumbled across this cute dessert place while shopping at Fashion Valley Mall. I was intrigued by all the cute lights and decor of the place which made me want to get a sweet treat. I settled on the tanghulu since I've been wanting to try it for awhile now. The tanghulu costed about $7 with tax which I thought was quite expensive for candied fruit. It's around the same price as a drink.. After ordering, the worker handed me a premade tanghulu right away. The tanghulu tasted good I just wish it was colder.

Suite front

Devil & Angel Desserts has opened a suite on the ground level of the Westfield Fashion Valley Mall under the food court and next door to a ramen eatery. If you park at Deck B and walk out of the structure in the direction of the food court, then that will lead you to this LA-based dessert shop. The space has a very tall ceiling with a pillar coming down adjacent to the service counter. On the pillar hung the menu screens which forced you to crane your neck high to view all of the selections. Besides drinks (fruit teas, milk teas, and smoothies), soft serve ice cream, croffles, and mochi doughnuts were the food offerings. I selected a Jasmine Passionfruit from the Refresher category and a Very Berry croffle. The latter was a hybrid of a croissant and a waffle, therefore the mashup for a name. Blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries along with pastry cream topped the croffle. I did not ask for any boba pearls in my drink as it already had bits of fruit. The citrus taste was on the mild side despite the request for less ice. It was late in the evening so the batch of croffles on display had probably been sitting out for a while. If mine was eaten when it was freshly made, then I think I would have enjoyed the product better. The tartness from the berries balanced the sweetness of the cream. Pricewise, the items were on par with the costs at the Asian dessert places in the Convoy District.

No chain açaí bowl place has been able to make me feel different. I'm so happy they have been in Hillcrest for so long and continue to provide their services. Some of my fav items are the Liv signature smoothie, the veggie sandwich, and the lentil soup. Even typing makes me want to go get some now. It saddens me to see some weird review complaining about the business when I've come literally over 100 times and have never had a negative experience what so ever. Some of these wannabe "top elites" are getting out of hand. It feels like bullying in the hopes of getting some kind of special treatment. Very weird behavior, I hope they stay far away so the rest of the customers/community can enjoy the shop because it's a gift to the block.

The store is small with decent seating, but we opted to sit outside in their little dining area. The staff are nice and prices were decent. I shared an açaí bowl and turkey sandwich with a friend and we were both so stuffed at the end! I also got a smoothie and it was very refreshing. The turkey sandwich came with a side of fruit and it was all sweet and fresh. Everything just felt so fresh and delicious and I will definitely come back!

**July 2026: Sunday Afternoon Visit**…read more After an amazing (but exhausting) weekend at San Diego Comic-Con, my body was seriously craving something refreshing and nutritious. I had walked past Vitality Tap several times since it's conveniently located near my hotel, and on my last day I finally decided to stop in and I'm so glad I did. The space is a cool mix of a vitamin/supplement shop and a health focused drink and café spot. For a Sunday afternoon, it was surprisingly busy, with staff hustling to make drinks and açaí bowls. Despite the crowd, everything looked well-organized, and all the customers seemed genuinely happy with their orders. I ordered "The Dragon," which had pitaya, coconut water, pineapple, and strawberries. It was incredibly refreshing, which was exactly what I needed after hours of walking in the heat. Light, hydrating, and flavorful without being overly sweet. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area to try their açaí bowls and juices. Great spot for a post adventure reset.

I ordered the Classic without agave since I prefer my açaí on the less sweet side. The fresh mango, blueberries, and coconut flakes complemented it perfectly, creating a delicious balance of flavors. It was so good that I wouldn't mind making it my daily treat. Now I just wish they'd open a location in Orange County!
