A wonderful location to enjoy delicious German food and German beer served in a beautiful building honoring German heritage and culture. I enjoyed sitting outside enjoying a beer.

Authentic German Biergarten, restaurant, social club and event center on the banks of Bayou St. John. Deutsches Haus came highly recommended by a fellow Elite Yelper, who is a member of the club. Saturday of Christkindl Markt seemed like the perfect time to check it out. Had no problem finding the beautiful facility, nestled between Bayou St. John and Saint Louis Number One Cemetery. Plenty of parking in their private lot or along the bank of the bayou. Walked into the Christkindl Markt area, met some nice vendors and patrons, and found a few gifts for ourselves and others. We then proceeded around the back of the building where a band was playing Christmas music, alongside a few food kiosks. Inside was a beautiful bar with a great selection of German beers and a few more market vendors in the main event center. We were so impressed that we picked up a membership application. This looks like the kind of organization I'd like to be a part of, if they'd have me. Prost !!!

We went for Oktoberfest and had an absolute blast!! It was Friday night weekend 2. Although it was busy we never needed to wait in a long line to get in, food or beer. Tip: Either bring your own Stein or make your first stop the Souvenir shop to buy one. Full liter refills of a yummy selection of German Beer are 15.00 - not too bad considering the quality your getting. Sausage on a stick was delicious. I also ordered Bratz and kraut but unfortunately dropped the plate before getting to taste in, I was so sad about that. Other than that great drinks, food and fun music. I can't wait to go back next year.

The only reason the rest of the bun isn't eaten is that I'm low carb.

I visited Deutsches Haus when my Rotary Club was looking for a new location to hold its evening meetings. From the outside in this is a gorgeous building. It definitely doesn't read bar at all it reads high end community center which I found out, it really what it is. They hold some great events here including St. Baldrick's fundraising event. Given the features, I can see why someone would want to hold an event here. The large hall and the bar area get great light. I was told in addition to the great hall there are other smaller meeting rooms. Another pro for this location is the ample parking. Unfortunately, the bar doesn't hold that many people, so if you go there just on any old day and it is busy, you may end up sitting at some not as pretty standard edition conference tables and chairs. So again mediocre bar, pretty sweet event space. Other meeting attendees were impressed in the brews available. I wasn't drinking but I did have a lovely sausage link with delish mustard. If I am ever fancy enough to need to host an event for 100 or so of my closest friends, they will be top of my list.

I attended a home brewer's beer tasting here. I hadn't been to Deutsche Haus since it was moved from it's previous location to this new spot, so even though I knew what to expect, the experience was still pretty new. The beer tasting itself was outside in the parking lot area and inside there is a full bar and lots of tables with "family style" seating. The place got crowded fast, and when the food came out there was a pretty long line, but it moved quickly. When it was time for the food, I was delighted. They were serving three different types of sausage as well as sauerkraut, German potato salad, bread and even pretzels. All of the food was amazing! I really enjoyed my bratwurst and the other type of sausage was a spicy sausage that was fantastic. I could tell that the sauerkraut and potato salad were homemade and it was some of the best I have had. I'm happy to report that even though Deustche Haus is in a new spot, the quality hasn't changed. I am considering becoming a member because I am part German (6% is better than nothing!) and I had a good time here. As Emily said, this spot is temporary and they are planning to move, so be sure to support them in this location while you can.

Love that there are chairs out front to watch the bayou and picnic tables out back to enjoy your beverage out in nature.

I first learned about this great service because they are partnered with Crescent City Farmer's Market to bring boxes from their purveyors. I had a box delivered a couple of Fridays ago. I knew it would be on a Friday (ordered on Tuesday, I think) and they called me midmorning and told me when to expect the box. Then the delivery person called and said they would be at my house in a few. The box was left at my front door and was chock full of amazing fruits and vegetables and even some backed goods. This week I'm going with the combo box which will have both fruit and veggies. If the box you want says sold out or not available. Then try again next week, they only take a specific number of orders per delivery day for their boxes. When we're not in a pandemic, they deliver to community partners and that's where you pick up. This helps get fresh food to areas without grocery stores and can help get discounts via bulk buying. I'm so grateful for this service right now!
