I went to his office at South Shore Family Medical, Beach 54th St, Rockaway, NY, and except for the first two visits when I saw a Nurse Practitioner, Rayven Mason, the only people in the exam room with me were young inept NURSING STUDENTS. This was after a wait time of 1 to 2.5 hrs Every Time, just to get a med refill. The last time, when I went to the pharmacy to get my refill, I found that the UNLICENSED NURSING STUDENT GAVE ME THE WRONG DOSAGE. A secretary got Rayven to order the right dosage. But when I called the office to tell Rayven I refuse to see unlicensed students again, I was told she was unavailable, and she did not respond to the two call-back messages I left. I was later told it's a VIOLATION for nursing students to work with patients IN ANY WAY, UNLESS A LICENSED MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL IS PRESENT IN THE ROOM, OVERSEEING THE INTERACTION BETWEEN PATENT AND STUDENT! This office is horrible you never get to see the doctor only the multiple NPs or PAs he has as staff. They are almost all new graduates. The secretary at Baldwin office is attitudinal and gets aggravated when you call for referrals or refills for prescriptions. Not like I ever asked for sleeping meds or ant narcotic pain medications. Don't go here. They don't input your meds that you're on. It is just a mill to see as many patients as possible in a day. Don't even get examined completely. read more

This is the worst office ever! If you are dying and you are on Doughty Blvd take your chances and go somewhere else! The staff is the worst ever especially Jane they are so so rude! I'm trying my best to see if I can report them to some medical bureau. My sister is on chemo and home bound and she tried to ask a question one of the medical assistants name Jane hung up on her, left her crying on the phone. My mom who's sick and elderly came in and they kicked her out the office because they think she has COVID, as they are kicking her out they are screaming "get her out of here". Thank God I have this on video. Please stay away, this use to be an amazing practice my family and I have been going for over 10 years but recently the last five years they have been horrible! The only good doctor there is an NP named Brittany she's amazing and I hope she's at another practice that has better staff. Anyway run people this place has become trash and I'm shouting it all over because what they did to my family recently is unacceptable! Horrible. When they just opened this office, he was the only one seeing patients and it was great. He was great. Now, it's a crap shoot. You never know who you are going to see. You don't see one constant doctor. I don't know how you are suppose to build a relationship of trust with your doctor if you get a new one every time you come in!!! I called to make an appointment with a specific doctor, and instead of informing me that that particular dr only works certain days, they just made an appointment with whoever. I was so disappointed, but the dr was still nice so I got over it. When I went in for my follow up to get my results, I was expecting to see the same Dr again... and A NEW DOCTOR GAVE ME MY RESULTS. They will not give you results over the phone. They expect you to come in and pay a copay so they can just read off the results to you, which I think is ridiculous. They don't explain how their office hours work, they don't explain that during the weekends they rotate doctors so you will probably never see the same one. My Grandmother was a loyal patient of theirs for many years. As soon as she had a stroke, it was like she was never their patient. We needed to make the proper arrangements for my grandmother's care. We called them and they were no help at all. The office manager is rude and disgusting. She has no idea how to speak to people. They see you as nothing more than another dollar sign. Do not go here. If you really care about your health, see a doctor who cares about your health too. Not a doctor who is just trying to make money off of the fact that you care about your health. I wouldn't recommend them to a dying person if that was their last hope to survive. read more

My family and I have been patients of Dr. Detweiler since he opened his practice. Over the past 15 yrs we went from seeing him to seeing whoever he had in his office on any given day. He hires interns who not only diagnose you but they do so from reading a textbook in front of the patient. There is ABSOLUTELY NO PROFESSIONALISM amongst the people in his office. There is no consistency and stability within his doctors. Its impossible to develop a relationship with the Drs and PAs because they are constantly changing. That creates a sense of distrust and discomfort. His office staff are horrible degenerates. I had the displeasure of dealing with one named Vanessa who feels she owns the office. She turned me away claiming I was late for an appointment that she actually made. To make matters worse she refused to allow me to see the PA. Total disregard for what my issue was. She was rude and obnoxious. Upon telling her my insurance had changed she told me some ridiculous story of how the Drs name must appear on my insurance ID card. I had to basically explain her job to her because she was giving me misinformation. I stayed a patient for so long because of his PAs Donna and Carey (whom he let go) and because of Jane and Leighann from front reception. Everyone else seems to be high school drop outs who did a 3 month crash course in some medical course and think they are somehow official RNs. Dr Detweiler is never around. He seems to be hell bent on money and making money. And all his office does is send you bills over your insurance. They charge you for an annual physical exam and to receive the results which are both covered my insurance. Totally disgusted. They once charged my brother just for a Dr to look at him. Not speak or check him out. Just for looking at him. I refuse to be a patient there going forward. And I will pass my review and experience on to everyone I know.
