I was in desperate need of a bike that could handle more city miles and riding after struggling commuting around the city on a mountain bike. I initially called the shop to see if they had any bikes in-store within my price point that fit my height/weight and within an hour of riding up there I was leaving the store with a new bike. I was able to trade-in my mountain bike and apply the funds toward discounting the nice new hybrid Batch bike I purchased. Purchasing a new bike here also includes a 1year free tune up as well. Great experience and find myself often recommending others here. Bikes for sale here at all price ranges and different types of riding, as well as selling any accessories/tires/helmet/supplies in store. This year, we opted for Detroit, and after some research, decided to ride at Belle Isle. Perfectly situated in between our hotel and Belle Isle: Wheelhouse Detroit. We put in our reservation online, showed up, had our bike within 5 minutes, and drop-off was just as easy. The bike was solid too. This was an easy 5-star review to write because there wasn't a single negative about the experience.

The shop is located right downtown and is actually really cool; it's designed after a historical bike shop in Detroit. They have these tall wood and glass cases that look like something from a natural history museum, I loved them! Scott was there when we stopped in and he was super helpful and knowledgable. He showed us the different sizes of the e-bike and answered all our questions about them (and we had many). He was great to talk to because he has one of them himself, so he could give information on how he uses the bike and what it's best for. He was so kind and polite! Nate took one out for a test ride and loved it. He decided to buy one and we figured out we could take one wheel off and get it into the trunk, but we'd need to do it the following day. Scott said no problem, he'd be there to help. He got us all set with payment and gave us some more info on how the battery charges, some tips and tricks, and gave us a tire pump and the keys for the battery. The next day we showed up and Scott had the bike ready to go. He showed us how to take the wheel off and we were on our way! I was so impressed with our experience at Detroit Bikes, and huge thanks to Scott for all his help and info. I would definitely recommend Detroit Bikes to anyone looking for an e-bike or a regular bike. All their bikes are assembled in Detroit, and some of their bikes have frames that are manufactured in house at their Detroit facility - pretty cool!
