He tried to show Charlie a video and he didn't really even watch. He left with a high taper and didn't even cut top at all or blend sides well or line up anything. It also wasn't even when hair was pulled up, kinda messy (see pics). I had pre-paid and pre-tipped ahead. My son didn't feel comfortable saying anything because he didn't want him to make it worse. Definitely not the worst cut he's had but not the best. It's low key $15 anywhere else to just do an undercut which is basically what he left with. The shop itself is clean, busy, has free parking and a dog that greets patrons. Staff are all nice. We arrived early and waited in waiting area and he took him a few minutes early so it's not like he was rushed. Nice guy but probably won't return.

I caller first thing in the morning and scheduled an appointment at 1130. I showed up early at 1120, just in case. A few minutes after I arrived, another person arrived, also with an 1130 appointment with the same barber. It turns out the barber had forgotten to mark me on the schedule and taken a second appointment at the same time. He told me he was going to take the other customer first, and it would only be about 10 minutes. I was going to wait, but after 15 minutes I had to leave because I had other things I needed to get done on my day off. A short while later, I received this text: "Understand that im a barber. Appointments are approximate times. Not set in stone. My chair was open at 11:45. You would have still been finished by 12 noon. I book 30 min Appointments. So you walking out because your vagina was full of sand this morning is highly offensive. And next time you make a face at me will probably not wnd well for you. Have a great day. " I've never in my life seen such a blatant display of unprofessionalism as this, not even considering the low-key threat at the end of the text. I'd like to hope that the barber was just having a very bad day, as I'd never seen this kind of behavior from him before. Even so, I'll be getting my hair cut elsewhere from now on.

I came to Chop Shop on a whim. It was a Friday, I didn't really need a haircut, but I was bored, so…read moreI decided to get one. All the usual barbers in Providence were booked, so I logged onto Yelp to see if there were any decent places nearby. And that's how I came across Chop Shop. Appointments are only accepted on Tues/Weds/Thurs, which relieved me of my anxiety about being turned away as a walk-in. I arrived around 9:45 AM, and there was ample street parking. The shop itself was spacious and clean with a no frills decor. I was immediately seated by a barber, John. John is a man of few words, but is extremely attentive. He asked me what kind of cut I wanted, I answered, and he asked a few clarifying questions. Of the small talk we had, John mostly responded with a protracted, unimpressed "uh huh", but I didn't mind that. It was clear he was involved in the details of my cut. While cutting my hair, he didn't answer phones or respond to any messages, which is all too common at most barber shops, and I greatly appreciate that. In the end, John not only gave me a high-quality cut, he gave me the haircut I asked for. This haircut would easily run me $30 in Providence, but I was only charged $16. I wish I had known about Chop Shop sooner!

I have my hair cut here several times by John and he is a true craftsmen and has always treated me with the utmost respect. The barbers here are trained and experienced and work with you to give you the cut you want, and the shop is clean, modern and has an interesting aesthetic, And on top of it all, the prices here are very fair for the quality -- only $16 for a standard cut (before tip). Would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking for a new barber in the area.
