Just called in to attempt to order a bouquet for a co-worker who lost her mother today. I'm on a bit of a time crunch considering she has to leave town to handle the details, and I wanted the flowers to arrive prior to her leaving. The woman who answered here immediately sounded defensive when I asked about the delivery timeline, what type of flowers they had in stock, and what I could expect within my price range. Since I'm ordering from out of state, these are not unreasonable questions, and any truly professional establishment would have tried to accommodate the request. Despite their site saying they serve the Red Oak area, she acted as if it was a trek to Mexico noting the massive amount of school zones in the area.
When I asked about the price range and let her know I was thinking of spending between $55-60, she cut me off and said incredulously "all together?! No, we don't go to Red Oak for that. It needs to be a minimum $55 arrangement before the ($15) delivery charge." Okay - so can you tell me what $70 gets me? What type of flowers can I expect? Size of bouquet? Nope. She can't go through every flower with me and recommended I just go with the "designer's choice" or check the website for the bouquet I want.
Here's the thing. You're a florist, so you know what is appropriate for sympathy flowers. You can throw out some names so I can have a general idea of what I'm sending. Yes, I can look on your website, but in the history of all flower ordering, website flowers and real life flowers never really match. I'm not asking you to give me a description of every flower in your shop. Additionally, taking an attitude with a new customer is one really quick way to get a two star Yelp review without even being reviewed on the product you put out. read more
