This was hands down the worst hair service experience ever, and I feel obligated to warn others so…read morethey don't make the same mistake. My daughter went to Rylie for hair extension installation expecting professional work and left with severely damaged hair that she is now struggling to repair. From the start, the process felt rushed and careless and Rylie had a nasty attitude. The extensions were installed with excessive tension, improper placement, and zero concern for the health of the natural hair. Within days, my daughter experienced intense scalp pain, breakage, and noticeable hair loss. Instead of enhancing her hair, this service destroyed it. She now has uneven patches, weakened strands, and damage that will take months--if not longer--to recover from. A hair extension install should never leave someone afraid to touch or brush their own hair. Final Warning Do not go to Rylie for extensions Do not trust her with your natural hair Do not ignore the red flags If you care at all about the health of your hair, take your money elsewhere. No hairstyle is worth this level of damage and stress. I'm sharing this so others are spared the same outcome.

I am writing this review to share my experience factually and transparently, especially after the…read moresalon's response to my initial concerns. I was a long-term client whose regular stylist was on maternity leave. During that time, communication from the salon was extremely poor -- messages went unanswered and there was no clear system for managing or transitioning clients. Because of this lack of communication, I ultimately sought services elsewhere. At that appointment, a licensed stylist evaluated a recent full reinstallation of my top row of extensions performed at this salon and identified a serious concern with the installation. I was informed that the weft contained too little extension hair, resulting in too much of my natural hair being pulled into a single attachment point, creating unsafe tension at the scalp and a risk of traction damage or hair loss if left in longer. This was not an overdue install. It was a recent, full reinstallation. Notably, my bottom row -- which had not been serviced for months (my decision) -- did not show the same level of tension, further indicating the issue stemmed from the installation itself rather than normal wear or timing. This was especially alarming given that the salon recommends repeated "move-ups" (approximately $200 per row), which another stylist explained can compound tension over time and increase the risk of damage when an install is already compromised. When I attempted to ask questions and communicate concerns during my appointment with the stylist, Rylie, who performed the service, the responses felt passive-aggressive and dismissive, making it difficult to advocate for my hair health or feel supported. After leaving an initial, carefully worded review, the salon responded not with accountability, but with defensive and threatening language, including statements that my review was "malicious," "unfounded," and "legally documented." This response was deeply disappointing and reinforced my decision to no longer trust this business with my hair or concerns. I am sharing this experience so other clients can make informed decisions -- particularly those receiving extension services where technique and scalp health are critical. Be aware and do not go especially if you're spending the investment on extensions!!!

I've been coming to her for many years, and she's now the only person I trust with my hair. She specializes in lived-in blonde, and after I decided to transition to my natural hair color my hair has grown out so perfectly you'd think I had natural highlights! She is dedicated to her craft and is always excited to share about her most recent continuing education course or workshop she's attended. Besides her talent, she's a sweet soul with a gift for connection. I wish my appointments were still hours long so we had more time to chat. The salon space itself is bright, welcoming, spacious, and full of plants. There are Aveda products for sale on the front wall. Complimentary drinks offered during your service!

The salon is clean, it does not smell, and the stylists and receptionists are so kind. I came once during winter and the hot water heater went out, making the wash a little chilly! Lynn, the owner, apologized profusely (I really did not mind, it happens!) and sent me home with a complimentary Aveda product. I am by no means a hair expert, and I rarely know what to do with my hair, but Angela always produces excellence. My hair is silky, smooth, smells great, and looks AMAZING! She is kind, conversational, and quite possibly the nicest person I know, no joke. I will continue to come to and recommend Shine as long as I live in Milwaukee.

This place left me in tears at having such a bad haircut. I have had a series of bad experiences…read morebut stuck with them until this last time I had my haircut and it was the final straw for me. I showed pictures of what I wanted including pictures of myself with a haircut I got while travelling. The stylist cut my hair minimally at first that I had to ask for it shorter especially in the back and ended up with a weird shape that I had to ask to be fixed. Maybe I should have showed the photos again, but I thought that the hair dresser was considering those and knew what I was talking about. She started to cut it way shorter in the bangs that I specifically was fine with and had to tell her to stop cutting that area to prevent her from doing more damage. In the end, one side of my bangs are much shorter than the other and have a really weird shape to them with completely different lengths in what should be the same length areas. The back was uneven and it was choppy all over to the point that when I got home, I had to take scissors to it myself like a razor just to prevent it from looking botched in a way that seems like I was the one who messed up my own hair. I have been unhappy with this place

I can't say enough great things about Samson & Delilah…read more Dawn Marie is my stylist (she's the owner) and every time I go in, it is ALWAYS more than "just a haircut." She is like a therapist/friend/shaman--great advice and outlook on life is always sprinkled in with FABULOUS talent. She is truly top notch. I am always impressed that she keeps up with the new trends and techniques in the field by going to conferences and keeping in touch with the top stylists in the field. Worth every penny and every moment. And, it's a great location--you can have a delicious lunch at Balistreris around the corner or a treat from Simmas, La Tarte or Confections!

I notoriously jump from salon to salon trying to find the perfect stylist (or wait so long to schedule that I just go to whoever can fit me in NOW) but not anymore: Elle is my girl. Get this: I was dreaming of perfect beach waves for summer, and not only did she recommend (without pushing) the best product, she's also messaged me twice since then to see if I like it AND if I want any extra tips because she's been using it herself. Get in as one of her regulars before she's so booked she can't fit you in for months. I officially have to stop being a last-minute scheduler, but her work is worth it. She's the kind of stylist you want to bring coffee to on your way in; the person you want to swing in to see just to say hi. Now because this review is mostly about Elle, I gave it five stars. But I will say that it was a bit unnerving to hear politically-charged, overtly racist conversations happening between the stylist and guest next to me, especially when it turned to whispers. I go to the salon to relax, not to feel unwelcome. Luckily Elle's awesomeness made up for this awkwardness.

I called an made an appointment, which was very easy to do and I was able to get in the exact day and time that I had planned! The studio is very cute and located near all the hustle and bustle of the Tosa Village. Due to the time of day of my visit, finding street parking was slightly challenging until I realized I should park a couple blocks up the hill. My first impression was that this is a clean and trendy place - I liked the vibe :) I had come prepared with some photos of cuts and colors. I wanted to go a little bolder, a little brighter. Becca checked out my photos and went to work. She was very thorough, leaving no hair untouched. My rinse and wash was very relaxing, and the products used smelled wonderful. Becca was very friendly and fun to chat with. She definitely has experience and knows what she is doing. My hair turned out fabulous - just like the pictures!! It felt and looked so much healthier and happier :D I highly recommend Becca and will be back to see her if I cannot see my regular stylist ;) THANK YOU!
