Friendly staff, central location and a great new selection of native plants--lots of choices now!…read moreIt used to be hard to find native plants for sale on the East End (plants like the ones you see happily growing in nature preserves or along hiking trails in the woods). You'd have to order online or search every display table at our local retail outlets, and then check to be sure those are really Long Island locals, attractive to birds, nourishing for pollinators and hardy enough to grow in our mostly sandy or loamy soil. Native plants don't need fertilizers or even much water after they've settled into the right place, so you're not wasting money or resources. Wittendales has clearly labelled "LI Local" pots with blue and yellow stickers (think Swedish flag colors), along with posters, signs, and a binder with plant care tips. If you need help coordinating plants that play well together , I'm told their displays of color coordinated "companion plantings " will change as the growing season progresses. Also, they have reasonable prices!

One was for Mother's Day, and one was for a get well soon postoperative situation. The flowers are spectacular, and they lasted for over a week, which is really unusual in our experience on the North Fork from florist. I purchased a "deluxe" bouquet for $99.99 (+ $10 delivery fee and $7.99 service fee, and taxes) for a total of $127.43. It looked nothing like the photo. I understand that the flowers will vary with seasonal availability, but it didn't even follow the same "recipe" as the arrangement I paid for. I paid for an arrangement with 4 roses in it and the one I received only had 2. It was also very sparse with way less flowers. It was delivered on a Thursday and I called them on Saturday to express my disappointment and ask if I got the wrong one delivered. The owner was understanding and agreed it was not to the quality of the "deluxe" bouquet, and said she had someone filling in for her that day who must have not realized it was a deluxe arrangement. She said she was sending a replacement to be delivered that day, Friday, or Saturday at the latest. It never showed up and I called the following Wednesday to check in and she said they were waiting a little longer so the flowers I received would die and a new one would be a timely replacement. It's now Saturday and it hasn't showed up. I was pleased that they said they were willing to make it right, but they never followed through. I'll edit this review if they do.

Rather, "Could I please get this?"), and the shop owner (Anastasia) said, "They're really expensive. I'm not sure how much. Probably $25 for the stem." Presumably she decided that I must not be able to afford them (I can) and thus was undeserving of service (and basic courtesy) bc I was in my unbranded morning joggers and baseball cap. I recommend she watch Pretty Woman. Dear Anastasia Casale, just because someone is a polite unassuming minority male does not mean they are not doing as well as your customers who peacock their wealth. The kicker, I shared my experience with a few other shop owners in the area and the unanimous consensus "yup that is Anastasia's vibe, not surprised." Took my business elsewhere.

Beth was both professional and extremely creative, she is an artist!! Her eye for color, composition of florals, and the floral design of our beach wedding was incredible. I gave her some random ideas from Pinterest and she turned them into a romantic expression of my vision. She was patient and supportive, despite my last minute bride energy. Lastly, I'll throw in that after her beautiful planning, my wedding day was rainy, and we had planned a beach ceremony. It was very stormy on the beach, but Beth helped get everything set up perfectly, no florals blew away in the wind, everything was safe and secure. I highly recommend her and would absolutely return to her for another special occasion. Thank you, Beth!!!
