I love this place! When we first moved to East Hampton, most of the nurseries I visited didn't have…read morethe selection and range that Wittendales has The owners are right there to answer questions, and the staff is always ready to help answer questions about growing or transplanting. This is a good place for everyone, from learning how to grow a starter herb garden to a full service landscape resource. I make sure to go throughout the seasons as they change stock according to our local needs. Make sure to check out the outdoor pots and indoor house plant options too! Thanks for always making a fun visit Donald!

Friendly staff, central location and a great new selection of native plants--lots of choices now!…read moreIt used to be hard to find native plants for sale on the East End (plants like the ones you see happily growing in nature preserves or along hiking trails in the woods). You'd have to order online or search every display table at our local retail outlets, and then check to be sure those are really Long Island locals, attractive to birds, nourishing for pollinators and hardy enough to grow in our mostly sandy or loamy soil. Native plants don't need fertilizers or even much water after they've settled into the right place, so you're not wasting money or resources. Wittendales has clearly labelled "LI Local" pots with blue and yellow stickers (think Swedish flag colors), along with posters, signs, and a binder with plant care tips. If you need help coordinating plants that play well together , I'm told their displays of color coordinated "companion plantings " will change as the growing season progresses. Also, they have reasonable prices!
