Some out of town family members sent me a beautiful arrangement from Designs By Donna. They were delivered in the evening which was perfect. The arrangement itself was quite unique with peach roses, purple flowers, and white daisies. It really was impressive! The only downside is it was arranged in foam so you really can't push the longevity of the flowers much besides just adding more water to the foam. The problem with this is that the arrangement really didn't last a week which is a shame with something so pretty. I would order from them in the future! read more

This florist will also help you custom-design an arrangement within your price range if you want something a little more personal or "outside the box" of carnations or roses (not that there's anything wrong with carnations or roses). Should have done more research before I ordered. Very pricey. Paid almost $100.00for Valentine's Day roses. Didn't deliver until 6 pm. The most horrible looking dozen roses I have seen. Called several times and was hung up on several times. Save your money, go to Food Lion, you'll get better flowers and less stress. read more

This was our first time using Designs By Donna. We order a plant for a funeral and we are total disappointed with what we got. After speaking with Donna, she told us we got our moneys worth. What we got what a 6" pot with some vines coming out of it. Her website looks nice, but I can't find what she sent us anywhere on it. It looked like a $15 plant from walmart. I think they should remember that there are too many competitors out there and a little customer service goes a long way. read more

My boyfriend ordered flowers for me for my December birthday. I received a Christmas theme arrangement and it was left at my front door while no one was home. I was NOT notified that it had been delivered. A stray cat came along and sprayed the arrangement so then it smelled awful. I called the florist and they apologized. Well, I would first like to start with I hired Donna to do the flowers at my wedding (first mistake). We had mutual friends, and I heard that she did okay work. We started off with just ordering the flowers from her, and my grandmother was going to help design the arrangements (because I knew she knew what she was doing). So, for starters I went in and chose my flowers about a month before my wedding and we were going to rent some of her vases for my tables. After we got my totals for how many flowers we would need Donna stated that she would order the flowers about two weeks before my wedding. She was also supposed to do a "mock" bouquet for me because I wanted it a certain way, and I was not going to chance my bouquet looking awful the day of my wedding. She made the mock bouquet, and charged us $100 for it, my mother made it clear we wanted fresh flowers. When I arrived at my bridal portrait session I saw my bouquet and the petals were brown, and looked like it had been ran over with a truck. There was no way she ordered me fresh flowers for my bouquet because they were brown and she had just made it that day and she still charged $100. It was so awful. At this point it was to late to back out the flower order because she was already paid in full( and would not give us our money back), and it was too close to the wedding. So, after that I went in about three days before the wedding to look at an arrangement to make sure that what I wanted (my grandmother made the arrangement, and she was supposed to come in and mock the other 16 table arrangements.) The following day I called Donna and made it clear that I did NOT want her to do my bouquets, she knew this from the start, and I made it clear early that week that I just wanted the flowers, and I was going to have someone else do the bouquets because how unhappy I was with the mock bouquet she originally did. She then stated to my mother after our phone call that she had already made my bouquets the day before which would have been Wednesday, my wedding was SATURDAY. The following day Thursday, my mother arrived to make sure all was going well, and she found out that donna had shorted us like 300-400 flowers, she charged us for these flowers, but they were not there. We did not have enough flowers for all of my arrangements. She had to call and overnight flowers in (which she clearly did intentionally, so she would pocket more money) and she was mad that she had to pay all these charges to overnight them, when she should have just ordered the correct amount from the start. After all of this, I called her that afternoon and asked her why she did my bouquets because I told her not too, she started yelling and told me to come get all my flowers that she wasn't going to do anything, and that we couldn't not get her vases ( that we already paid to rent) and this was the day before my wedding. She finally calmed down, after I had to lie to her and tell her I would use her bouquets so I could use the vases so I would have them for my wedding. fast forward to my wedding day, my mother waited on her for 3 hours to get to the venue she was THREE hours late which put my mother getting to my wedding right before it started. I had to pay someone $150 the DAY OF MY WEDDING to redo my bouquets because I was so mortified by her work. Working with Donna was straight Hell, and she put me through more stress than anyone. You can tell her you want white roses, and she will order you pink hydrangeas because thats what "she thinks looks better". I can honestly say, and I am not being the least bit dramatic, that she ruined my whole wedding experience. To be told a few days before your wedding that you can't have your arrangements or the vases you already paid to rent? Very unprofessional and uncalled for is all I can say. She may be able to throw some tacky baby's breathe and roses together (barely), but nothing more. read more

When my son tried to send me flowers for Mother's Day, he got no information from the florist ( that includes a projected delivery date.) the gist of this is he paid to have flowers delivered to me they took the payment and made no meaningful attempts to deliver the flowers to me. That is to say he held up his end (paying for the flowers) but they dropped the ball on THEIR end (didn't deliver the flowers, made no effort to give him any order status.) what I find OFFENSIVE is this was a special order to me because I live in another state from my son he trusted 1-800-FLOWERS to flowers delivered on Mothers Day (or at a minimum the next day.) It was only after we found out one week later that the gift was never delivered. Finally, Designs by Donna, in a lackadaisical way, went into damage control mode after My son called them about the order. They FINALLY DELIVERED THE FLOWERS ON MAY 20 TEN DAYS AFTER MOTHERS DAY!! They, in a nonchalant way, called me to tell me they were bringing the flowers to me on MAY 20, leaving them on my doorstep. They left the flowers on my doorstep --my Zi live in an apartment complex --they failed to even notify me that they were leaving the flowers!!! This was SUPPOSED to be a SURPRISE GIFT for me! I only found out TEN days after Mother's Day that my son sent me flowers. My son demanded a refund, for my inconvience as compensation --because the florist was trying to keep his money and not give me what My son paid for!! read more

A friend sent flowers to me while I was in the hospital. The flowers were not fresh and the arrangement was not what my friend ordered. Despite caring for the arrangement, it lasted less than a week. Save your time and money. read more

Zero would be a better rating. Flowers arrived 4 days late. No real apology and far inferior to what was ordered. Told me that Boss's Day deliveries made them deliver late and that they had to get those out first -- even though my delivery was also a gift from my staff. They advised 1800flowera that the delivery was made on Friday then had to correct that. They finally arrived after 5 on Monday. Stayed home all day Friday waiting for the delivery and then all day on Monday. Bad. read more

Absolutely disappointed and enraged by the lack of service and professionality this business exudes. I ordered a birthday arrangement with balloon to arrive today via 1800flowers.com. Earlier in the day, a deliverer attempted to contact my sister saying she must have the wrong address. Did not know this address was an apartment complex though that information was provided at the time of my initial order. She left a voice mail, obviously frustrated, instructing my sister (who has a chronical illness) to contact her within 5 minutes while she was still in the area to verify her address. Keep in mind there was no timeframe of delivery provided for this order. Around 3pm today the designer left a voice mail for my sister, yelling and speaking rudely...on. her. Birthday. She wasn't expecting the flowers, and called the florist. They verified around 3pm that the address was indeed the one provided initially. At that time, my sister provided clear instructions and was told they'd be right there. At 6:15 I learn of these events and still no flowers. I contact the florist, and she tells me the deliverer is still out, had 3 stops ahead of my sister. I asked what was the latest possible time she could receive them--she dodges my question. I say, "she needs them today." I was assured the deliverer had "written instructions," that she would be delivering them today, "absolutely." I ask how late they're open-she says they closed at 5, but calls are forwarded to her phone after hours. She says at 6:24 "if she doesn't receive them in an hour, call me back." No flowers. 7:42 I call. Over and over again. Initially my calls were ignored completely. Then sometimes ringing, other times going straight to a message saying they were "not accepting calls at this time." Finally, I contacted 1800flowers-I was read a note from Designs by Donna saying that an attempt for delivery had been made, but the recipient expressed they would not be home. None of that happened. 1800flowers was made aware of the negative impact this business has on their customers, and I was told the issue would be expressed to upper management. 1800flowers did well to resolve the issue, and offered a different florist. read more

Stopped by today to purchase flowers for a funeral. There were 3 flowers ordered. I let my son pick out the flower that he wanted to have displayed for his grandmother's funeral. When asked if there was a catalog to show available arrangements, the proprietor (Donna) stated that all she had was a very generic pamphlet. To see actual recently delivered arrangements, pictures were displayed on her phone. The arrangement my son chose is beautiful. The other parties that were there with me picked the arrangements that they wanted and now comes the time to find out the price. There is no reason to beat around the bush. My jaw almost hit the floor when she told me the price. I will just say this. The arrangement that I got for my grandmother when she passed away costed $80.00, and this arrangement was purchased from a florist local to where I live. My grandmothers arrangement was gorgeous, heart felt and basically perfect. For the price I paid for this arrangement, this arrangement from Designs by Donna had better knock my socks off. Ok, I will continue my rant. When tallying up the final price for my flower, there was the price of the flower (which was greater than double the price that is listed in the article), then there was the sales tax (no getting around this) and then the $19 delivery fee. Once again the delivery fee usually would not have bothered me, but we were charge the delivery fee for each flower. That is $57 to take 3 flowers in the same van at the same time from Designs by Donna to the funeral home. The funeral home is 7.2 miles from Designs by Donna. That is what really sent me over the top, thus the reason for this Yelp report. If I'm not please with the arrangement at the wake, I will write another review so as to keep everything fresh in my mind and hopefully will give some guidance to others prior to their visit to Wendell NC. She is basically the only florist in the area, so she can charge what she wants. That would be borderline price gouging or maybe I'm wrong. PS. Donna, if you are reading this, a new van might be in order because the gas mileage on the vehicle you use to deliver flowers gets terrible gas mileage. read more

Paid $60 via 1800 Flowers. They contacted Designs By Donna to make my Grandmothers arrangement. I was looking to get an Orchid arrangement. They were unable to do that but said they had something similar (according to 1800 Flowers). What was delivered to my Grandmother was FAR from anything similar and what I was told she would receive. The "arrangement" consisted of ~3 bunches of hydrangeas and some green weeds. Extremely sad looking "arrangement". A $10 grocery store bouquet would have been 100 times better than what she delivered. If you want something beautiful, go elsewhere. The most unprofessional business owner I have ever dealt with. Takes no responsibilities for the many mistakes made, and blames everything on someone else. The prices are ridiculous compared to the quality of the product, the vases are extremely cheep, and the arrangements are much smaller than I expected. My issues were never resolved because the owner kept passing blame and I could never get ahold of anyone else. I'll NEVER use this company again and I do NOT recommend them! read more
