Bride's bouquet. After wedding
Alla K.

Our beautiful wedding took place on October 22nd. Shelly did amazing job with church decoration (we left decorations in church and the following Sunday, after the regular service, people were taking flowers home with them!). Centerpieces for the tables at the reception were gorgeous! Also, we ordered flower decoration for Cake and it was on point. However, of course, I loved my bouquet the most! I wanted real peonies in my bouquet and Shelly made it happen in October!!! I was absolutely happy bride!!! I need to mention that working with Shelly was a breeze - we paid upfront, then exchanged with a couple of emails, and then we just enjoyed our Day! Shelly and her team delivered flowers to both locations, decorated church and reception, and my bouquet was waiting for me at the church! Also, they delivered the toss bouquet and cake flowers in the vases and put notes on them - so there is no confusion. We loved the professionalism and amazing customer service. We highly recommend Designing Flowers if you are looking for professional florists for your wedding!

Name says it all, it's a field (just one field, don't know why they call it fields, lol) and there…read moreare flowers in it. There is no sign for it on the main road, and it feels like you're pulling into someone's driveway (which you basically are), but there is a sign for it where you turn in to park. It's at someone's barn, but yeah there are literally other houses and their backyards right there so that's a little weird. Anyway, you pick your own flowers and payment is on the honor system - $15 for a smaller cup and $20 for a larger container (they were out of the $20 one when we went so I'm not sure what it actually looks like). You can pay with cash, venmo, or mail a check. They provide cups to put the flower in (which you take with you), water to put in the cup (it's in the barrel), shears, and even umbrellas. They also sell a couple other things like Honey. As for the field, it's on the side of the barn and you just walk around at your leisure and cut flowers. It's definitely not huge, but it's not tiny either. I'd say expect to spend 30-40 minutes unless you want to sit and chill (saw some people doing that). They had a good number of different & interesting flowers in vibrant colors. Flower selection obviously differs based on season, weather, how many people have already come through, etc. I feel like we came kind of late in the season (mid-sept), so it felt a bit picked over, but there were still more than enough flowers. Probably worth coming a bit earlier in the season for a better selection. Overall it was fun to come out here and we'll definitely be back. This is not an all day activity though...there are a million wineries and breweries in the area so maybe hit this before/after one of those.

When we went, there was nowhere near enough fully grown flowers to make a bouquet. We had to just…read morewalk out and find another farm. They should've updated their website to note this downtime. I can't imagine this is how the farm always is.

Ellmore's Garden Center - Love my hanging baskets!

Last year, my Aunt bought some of the biggest, most gorgeous hanging baskets I'd ever seen and she…read moresaid they were only $20. She said she got them from Ellmore's, but by the time I got there (about a week later) they were all gone. This year I promised myself I wouldn't miss out on them so I went there about 3 pm on the first day they were opened for the season. Well, I'm soooooo glad I did because they only had about 10 left, and I needed 4! I got 2 geraniums $(28/each) and 2 Boston ferns ($25/each), and they are huge and beautiful! They didn't have much variety of other plants for planting in the ground...Marigolds, geraniums, petunias, herbs, a few tomato plants and 3 meadow sage (of which I bought 2)...so that was a little disappointing, but all the plants they did have looked very healthy and hearty. I'll come back in a few weeks to check out what else they've got.

Fantastic little nursery in Hamilton. We've bought our ferns, heirloom tomato plants, and herbs…read morefrom this nursery for the past five or six years. The quality is excellent. Equal to Stadler's, better than Abernathy & Spencer, all at much more reasonable prices. There's even perennials and annuals for your gardening pleasure. If I owned a plant nursery, I'd like to think I would run it the way these folks do this one. Focusing on quality over quantity, friendly service, all in a laid back, backyard kind of feel. Nothing's been over-fertilized to force it to bloom early (a trick used by a lot of nurseries to get you to buy the "pretty flowering plants"). This only results in disappointment when you realize your new plant has spent all of its energy producing flowers and none developing roots. Hint: don't be fooled by that trick. Buy from a reputable nursery, such as Ellmore's, and have better, healthier plants. It's a hidden gem just a bit down the little road beside Lowry's Crab Shack. Make sure you shop here first for your ferns, herbs, vegetable plants, perennials, etc. you won't be disappointed.
