Kanika is an extremely talented designer, and I can't recommend her enough!…read more We bought a house in March 2020 - signed the contract days before covid stay at home orders. My husband and I then spent two years working from home together in our front room (we call it the study now) without any rhyme or reason, just putting our desks wherever they fit, because it all happened so quickly. It was awkward and ugly, cords and monitors everywhere, and not a great look for people walking in our front door. The whole time, I was thinking, "when this is done and at least one of us goes back to the office, I want to make this room into a nice space to read and relax, and also to WFH when I have to." That's where Kanika comes in. I tried changing the place up on my own, but every choice I made seemed to make my space uglier and more awkward. It was time to hire a professional. That decision was worth every penny. In the end, my project turned out to be slightly bigger than just one room. I enlisted Kanika's help in choosing flooring, baseboards and paint for the whole house, furniture for my entire downstairs (we were still using the old living room furniture left by the previous owners), and light fixtures throughout. She was easy to work with and understood immediately what I was going for. My study is a real showstopper now - the walls are this deep blue color that looks amazing, she designed a gorgeous custom bookshelf that makes perfect use of the space, and she picked a couch that is the perfect size, just the right color, and so comfortable. And we still managed to get a desk in there for those WFH days. Literally just the other day, I was on a Zoom with someone and thought "this room behind me is so pretty, it looks like a fake background." But it's real, and in my house! And it wouldn't have happened without Kanika. The paint color she helped me pick for my bedroom is something I never would have chosen on my own, but I still regularly think about how nice it looks whenever I go in there. Same with the color of the living room couch, I'd never have found it on my own, but now that I have it, I love it. She knows her stuff. Kanika's husband Adi runs the business side of things. He managed the project, hiring contractors and keeping everything on schedule. The work was done on time, and he kept us in the loop, patiently answering any concerns or questions. And, no shenanigans with the final cost. Really, hiring Kanika Design was a great decision for us.

I met Pam, and on the spot, knew she was the right person to work with. Pam asked all the right questions and listened to what we wanted in our dream home. She completely understood our vision, thought of every little detail, and didn't overlook any aspect of the project that we felt was important. The level of detail and thoroughness when it came to how the spaces were designed really showed Pam and Erwin's level of expertise. Pam and Erwin had our dreams, vision, and best interest in mind. From the initial space planning for the kitchen and master bathroom, the layout of slabs, tile and cabinetry, selection of all the finish materials, colors, fixtures and hardware, they were very professional to work with. Details matter to us, and their attention to detail is apparent in our finished home. They referred excellent vendors and suggested the best, high end and quality finishes and materials. Most importantly, Pam and Erwin's work ethics are unbeatable, and they made sure we got everything we wanted on our checklist. From start to finish, the design process went smoothly, and the meetings and discussions were fun and productive. We gave them the creative freedom and trusted their design process and vision and our kitchen and bathroom remodel designs are masterpieces. We were so pleased with the quality of their work that we asked for Pam's help to furnish our house. Every room was beautifully designed with an understated sense of elegance and in tune with the architecture and surroundings. Pam's sense of style and her vision has positively impacted our quality of life as we enjoy her work every day. We are very grateful that we were able to work with Pam and Erwin. We hired her a few years ago when my wife wanted help selecting paint colors for 4 bedrooms, living room, and hallways. It was just a small job and I wasn't sure we needed help for such a task. What a difference it makes having a designer help! She walked through each room, got a good sense of us, the function of each space, and what furnishings (designs/colors) needed matching. The end result was great. So when it was time to remodel both the master and hall bathrooms a couple years layer, we had her consult at our house, and then at a couple of stores. We met at a tile store to look through and select everything. She helps de-sress the design decisions (my wife and I joke that she saves marriages by being the design intermediary). She also went with us to pick out cabinets at one of her"go-to" stores that has budget pricing with better quality and options than the big box stores. We opted to have her do design drawings of the tile layouts...do that!! I had thought about saving the money and doing it with my own CAD software. We first met at my new place -- an old house built in 1957. While it's in a great location, the house itself, both inside and out, was extremely outdated and needed a full overhaul. Allen arrived right on time, warm and professional, immediately putting me at ease. At the time, I didn't have a clear and complete vision and could only give a vague description of the feel I wanted. Allen listened to me with tremendous patience, answered all my questions in detail, and proactively brought up many potential issues and risks I hadn't even thought of. Within just two days, I received his initial design sketches. Over the next month or so, Allen guided me through the selection process step-by-step -- much like helping a kid build with LEGO blocks. He frequently traveled with me to various building material and decor showrooms across the Bay Area, helping me pick out everything from custom cabinets and tiles to tub, vanities, kitchen island marble countertops, and hardwood flooring for the bedrooms and living areas. What I appreciated most was that Allen never forced or pressured me into making any decisions. Instead, he quietly safeguarded the entire project, helping me steer clear of all kinds of unexpected pitfalls. Thanks to his thoughtful design and full support throughout, the entire renovation process went remarkably smoothly. The transformed home exudes a sense of quiet, livable beauty while still feeling modern and refined. Every friend and guest who has visited since has been full of praise. I couldn't be happier with the final result, and I wholeheartedly recommend Sofiov, especially Allen and his team to anyone planning a home renovation!
