The dentist and hygienist are great, but the scheduling staff has been extremely frustrating to deal with. My original appointment in April was canceled just five minutes before my appointment time due to what I was told were technical difficulties. Annoying, but understandable. They then rescheduled me for two months later. A week before that appointment, I received a text asking me to confirm a Tuesday appointment, even though I had been scheduled for Monday. Since the office was closed, I left a voicemail on Friday. When I still hadn't received a response by Monday morning, I called. That's when I was told my hygienist only works Tuesdays and Thursdays. My question is why was I scheduled on a Monday in the first place if the hygienist doesn't work that day? At no point was I notified that my appointment had been changed. I only found out because I received a confirmation text the week before. As a result, I have now lost two days of work and pay, and I'm still behind on my dental cleaning. By the time I find a new dentist and get established, it will likely be close to a year since my last cleaning and require even more time off work. The clinical staff has always been wonderful, but the scheduling process has been disorganized and has cost me both time and money. read more

Since moving back to Miami, I needed a new dentist asap as my teeth went through it as a result of pregnancy. My insurance helped me find this office and I am grateful. Had a bit of work done from minor cavity fillings to a crown and filling from a chipped tooth. Dr. Romay is skilled and friendly, knows what he is doing, and I felt that from our initial consultation. I am very particular about who does any kind of work on my physical and usually only take referrals. Also friendly supportive staff, short appt scheduling times, and clean office. The dental office is always clean and professional, and the front desk personnel will always try to fit you in the schedule in case of urgent need. Beware of all the positive reviews on Google. They will give you a credit to your account if you leave a 5 star review. I took time off of work to get my teeth cleaned as a new patient and they never notified me that new patients don't get their teeth cleaned on the initial visit. I was told I needed a deep cleaning even though I had just paid my previous dentist a few months prior for a deep cleaning. They couldn't do the deep cleaning in one visit, so it took three days I had to call out of work to get my teeth cleaned (initial visit, half of mouth, then the other half). They don't offer any late nights or weekend hours to accommodate the people who actually have professional jobs in Miami. They forced me to pay for an antibiotic treatment which cost hundreds of dollars and didn't bother to tell me during my initial visit. On my second visit, they didn't tell me I needed more on my third visit. Over the past two years I was a patient, I only saw the dentist during the initial new patient visit for 60 seconds. My insurance covers actual appointments to meet with a dentist twice a year, but I never saw him again in two years. I felt scammed by this practice and would not recommend anyone to see this facility. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Romay at Design A Smile. The initial exam was extremely thorough and informative. After not going to the dentist in longer than I'd like to admit, Dr. Romay made me comfortable while filling my 4 cavities. The staff is professional, polite and welcoming. I loved the dental hygienist that performed my deep cleaning. She was as gentle as she could be and very knowledgeable. I'm already looking forward to my next cleaning! read more

My experience with this dentist was not good. I went here to get a check-up. I was told I had a few cavities and needed one crown. He filled two cavities. On the next visit, I told him that the two cavities he had filled were bothering me. He brushed it off and told me I was probably flossing wrong. He proceeded to do the crown. After that was done, I went home, and the crown hurt at home for the next two days. The crown was not sitting well on my gum or something. I went back and told him, hoping he'd fix it. He didn't show any concern or interest and started filling two more cavities. After another couple of days, the crown still hurt my gum, so I went back and told him. He proceeded to "shave" off the tooth above and next to the crown. I went home again, and crown still hurt. I went back a third (or is it fourth) time, and then he said the problem was that the tooth next to the crown had a cavity and needed a filling. So he filled that tooth next to the crown so it (the crown) would stop hurting me. I went home, and after a few days, the crown still hurt! It got to the point where I felt like this man was going to ruin all my teeth, so I never went back again. Even the cavities he filled were bothering me. Keep in mind that every time I went back to this dentist with an issue, my gums were poked and numbed for an hour or two for nothing, because he never fixed anything. I went to another dentist who was more communicative and transparent. It turns out, the crown had been placed incorrectly on my gum. Also, the tooth next to crown, the one he said needed a filling and was the cause of my crown pain, really required a ROOT CANAL. Do yourselves a favor, don't go to this dentist if you have real dental issues. He only fills cavities (and not very well), and does not do serious, time-consuming dental procedures. More importantly, he doesn't listen to his patients' concerns. read more

Design a Smile by Dr. Ricardo Romay, DMD I would like to start of by saying " thank you" to Dr. Ricardo Romay and his great staff. Polite, punctual and knowledgeable staff. We have been a loyal customers to this dentist office for 1 year and have done many difficult procedures with them, but unfortunately we'll never ever come back there and here is a reason why: On 09/17/2018 a lady on the front desk ( if I'm not wrong her name is Connie) came to work definitely not in the mood and sick with sinus infection. We have done our appointments 6 months ago, and we were told that we don't need 2 appointment cards she will have us both on one, we trusted her and came on time on scheduled day. We came in and put our names in the list on the counter and waited for 5 minutes then one of us was invited in for procedures. The other person stayed in waiting room and was not even asked the reason of being there even though the name was on the list. While I waited Conie spoke to other clients in really nice manner, but has never spoke to me even though I was just in front of her. Later dental assistant came to the front desk and spoke to conie in Spanish(which is understandable and I don't mind it). 30 minutes later after my husband have done all procedures and came out I asked if I'm next. And got a harsh response " You don't have an appointment". After I told her that it should be mistake and our appointments should go together she responded " Everybody does mistakes" and I was given only one option to reschedule on other day, which I couldn't do since I took a day off from work. She has never looked at me during conversation and I was told that I'm rude talking to my husband in native language. I felt discriminated, so she can talk in her native language and I can not, it should never be brought towards customers. I haven't heard " sorry, excuse me " or any other apologies for messing up my appointment, instead the whole blame she put on me, like it's my fault. Probably she didn't want to look bad in her bosses eyes and would rather put the blame on customer. We have decided to cancel our accounts there and my husband asked her to send us doctor's notes and x-rays to emails. She responded to him immediately, but it took me 2-3 tries to get her eyes up on me and request same thing. 1 hour later we have received only x-rays but without medical history. Dr. Ricardo Romay please make sure that your staff on front desk is polite, organized and know how to keep your customers happy. I haven't been told even once "sorry" and never were addressed by my name. It's a great disappointment that people like Connie are the first person who is supposed to greet you in the morning at your dental office. P.S. I have been a patient of Dr. Romay's for a few years, and recently started bringing my children to the office as well. Everyone is so kind and patient with them... they don't even mind going to the dentist anymore!!
