We did not use the common pool area but did soak in three of the different private spaces over four visits. Each was very nice. There are two different styles of private pools here, the classics which run hotter and are a little shallower than the newer pools which they call their deluxe pools. The deluxe pools are to the left and classics to the right. The entire area is a whisper zone, so quiet and tranquil is the feel and vibe here. A guide meets you at the gazebo outside the gated area a few minutes before your session starts to check you in, let you in and point you in the right direction. All private soaking areas are named and numbered on their door front. The soaking areas are very clean, private and nicely appointed with a pair of loungers, a table of some sorts, overhead cool misters, a cold water bucket shower overhead on each pool, towel and clothes hooks and a wall clock to keep you on time, and intercom with the office. Went both during the day and the end at sunset, each offers its own experience. It seems to be quieter during the early hours, than the evening. Sessions are 50 minutes and they are prompt to get you in on time so you can enjoy your full time soaking. About five minutes before your session ends they notify you over the intercom that your time is ending so you do not run over time and allow them time to prep the space for the next people soaking. I had made the reservations about 3 weeks before. As with the last time I booked, I was very surprised that it wastn closer to sold out already. We have been to a few different hot springs some have been pretty cool, literally. The last one was outside Fairbanks Alaska in the winter. But one thing that is common at these spots is that they are communal pools. There tends to be a creeper now and then. But Riverbend has private pools, facing the Rio Grande. So this time I made note of the temps of each individual pool on the website, and got us the hottest one. It was perfect. It really does have pools that drop off right into the Rio. It was close to dusk and the river was flowing past the long shadows in front of us. The hour of relaxation flew by. It is the best we have been to. I am sorta happy that they arent so known as to be overbooked. Because we will be back again next time we are in the area.

The staff... warm, welcoming and gold standard. And that's 24 karat, not 14. Matthew has such a lovely smile, you feel immediately at home. From checkin to checkout everyone we encountered was aces. The room... very comfortable, loved the wooden furniture and the bed was heavenly. The 30 minute mineral soak (included) ... wow. Within minutes it provided a soothing calm and a hard reboot on stress levels so do NOT skip it! Breakfast the next morning is stated as continental but it felt far from that with the breakfast burrito bar, fresh baked goods, fruit, oats along with a menu of available unique espresso drinks. Stephen/Khrys took great care of us and the rest of the breakfast crowd. Sierra Grande is right off the main little downtown drag that has lots of little galleries and shops... and a nice local brewery. If you ever find yourself in or around this area THIS is the spot to treat yourself to a stay.

I would describe the rooms as pleasantly garish. My room was clean and I would not call it run down. But it is an old, historic building. So the word I would use is "funky." Free access to the mineral baths is a great amenity. The only quibble is that there was no soap, bar or liquid, in the room. I had to buy my own. Nevertheless, I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The park is pretty chill, and very close to the entry to the Dead Lake Butte. The laundry room is fabulous, and clean with plenty of machines. Overall clean. I don't know who makes these decisions. Also, I don't know why the phone call prior to our arrival to confirm our arrival. The interrogation and asking all these specifics. Look business around here is dying. What is with the 100 questions? We will never be back. There is just not enough for us to do. We are hikers, and we like to explore. We don't however like to have to travel 50 miles to see something. The hot springs are not enough of an attractant as we know of hot springs superior to this. We show up anyways and of course nothing but rocks and six foot trees sparsely around us. The advertisement of a dog run area? Turns out it is the rain water washout area full of gravel and boulders with a sign saying Dog Area. Pick Up After Your pers'. What a joke. But about our spot We paid for, it's what we paid for weeks in advance. It's a desert. Yet six premium pull through spots with 15' - 20' conical trees lining the slips sit empty. Nope We can't use them I guess. Would not move us. So after that we stay for only one full day. Telling them this the day we arrived because of these accommodations. Yet only the snappy words of 'Its our policy to not give refunds because you're not happy.' We leave for greener pastures with this management team keeping $400+ dollars of our unused time. What a joke. This place is full of Full time live ins. It's an rv style trailer park. Not an rv resort. Our 42' Motor Coach stuck out like pudding in a cloud. Skip this rv resort, it is not. And the lake is at 5% capacity. There's no boating to be done. You can do all of TorC in a single day. Really. Just make a day trip of little TorC and drive away. So avoid this resort. Not only does the Desert View Inn have ridiculously good prices, it also has the nicest proprietor in town - Hans! Hans is also president of the Chamber of Commerce and he knows customer service! He is dedicated to making his guests comfortable and happy - even down to bringing around coffee in the morning. The rooms are simple but extremely comfortable. Amenities include free WiFi, coffee maker, fridge, microwave, flat screen TV with satellite, and bath products. There is also a charming outdoor seating area with a large grill for guest use as well as chairs and tables outside of the rooms. The real fun, however, is Penny! Penny is Hans' adorable gentle giant of a dog, who will lovingly greet you at check-in and around the grounds!
