I'm usually pretty skeptical of dental offices because of my past experiences, but this was honestly a really positive one. I saw Dr. Grant for a wisdom tooth extraction. From the start, the office staff was very transparent about pricing and what my insurance would cover. They were able to give me estimates for both having the procedure with anesthesia and without, so I knew what my out-of-pocket cost would be before scheduling. I really appreciated that instead of wondering what the final bill would look like months later. Once I paid my portion, I was able to schedule my surgery right away. Dr. Grant had great availability, and I was even able to have my extraction the very next day after my consultation, which was super convenient. The procedure itself was quick, and I was sent home with clear post-op instructions and the appropriate medications. Overall, my recovery has been very smooth, and I had a great experience with Dr. Grant and his team. If you're feeling nervous about getting your wisdom teeth removed and the transparent pricing, I'd definitely recommend them. Back of house is great. The staff are attentive. My procedure was handled with care. I came for three extra extractions and an implant. Then the greed sets in. They want to sit here and point fingers back-and-forth between insurance and what they should be charging. They demand a huge payment upfront and then come crawling back for more when you don't get everything you want out of the insurance company well, maybe that means that your prices are out of control. Now I've been sent to collections even after being promised by the office manager that no additional charges would be sent. She lied. My advice steer clear do your shopping go somewhere else. I was referred to Dr. Grant by my dentist Dr. Baker to get an emergency tooth extraction and bone graft. Both Dr. Grant and his entire office are wonderful, they show a level of care for their patients from insurance purposes to scheduling to dental hygienist and assitants. Dr. Grant has incredible bed side manner and performed my procedure with grace, ease and diligence I was in and out for my procedure within an hour, and he was able to get me scheduled right away. Amazing service! I came in with an emergency as a new patient and they were able to get me in right away. I was referred by my dentist, had an easy check in process, the front desk girls and full staff were all very sweet and informative. I saw Dr. Grant for a tooth pull under local anesthesia which I was very nervous about. He listened to my concerns and halfway through the surgery, the pressure was a bit too painful under local anesthesia and he suggested general anesthesia was the way to go. I had Dr. Hansen removed my four wisdom teeth last year and everything turned out great no pain and no black eyes. The staff is the friendliest I have ever been associated with highly recommended for any surgical oral needs you need today I was in and they took x-rays to put an implant and again the staff even the ones that wouldn't working with me greeted me in the hallway and high. I was referred here for an emergency extraction , thought I was being taken care of until, the out of pocket charge for anesthesia was obscene but in my case necessary. Sr Hansen suggested the tooth next to it was accessed as well, so I signed the consent to remove that tooth as well. Then I wake up and is informed he only took the 1 tooth. He said it would be ok even though it hurt me too, I was very upset, went a year later for implant consult as the bone graph would nee. Time to heal, for 1 implant I was quoted close to 10,000! Obviously I couldn't afford that and that didn't even include the crown and abutment, I'd have to see another dentist elsewhere for that! Well, yesterday I had to have another emergency extraction, the tooth we-agreed to pull that he didn't! The staff at front desk wasn't kind at all, very rude, so yes I was rude back ! This office is overpriced, not caring and in my case didn't follow thru with what was agreed upon!! Do Not recommend this office!! read more

Although this oral surgeon may be competent, I find his practice to be unethical and with no real integrity. Their bottom line is not the well-being of the patient, but on their own bottomline and whatever makes their lives easier. I went in for a growth removal from my tongue, which was then biopsied. They sent the sample to a lab that was not in network for my insurance WITHOUT TELLING ME. So, I received a "surprising" and rather large bill from the lab Dr. Donovan's practice "always sends samples to." Their office representative continued to explain that "we don't research the insurance coverages...." What????? Here is a clear example of not really caring about the needs of the patient. But, in addition, the "No Surprises Act" that was recently passed by Congress, is supposed to prevent just such "SURPRISES." My recommendation, if you care about your own money, AVOID this practice. Find one that has integrity, ethics, and an attitude of actually caring about their patients. But, if this happened to you, don't just accept this nonsense. It is against the law. Take it to the AZ Attorney General's office. Call your senators and representative in Congress. Don't let them intimidate you. read more

It's been over 10 years since I have had this high level of patient care and fabulous front office customer service. I drove from north Phoenix to Queen Creek, AZ to have my tooth extracted today. It was well worth it. This was the best experience that I've had with a dental office. First off, the office was so clean and fresh. When I went into the front door, the environment automatically made me feel comfortable and safe. The doctor was very understanding and explained in detail why I should and should not do certain procedures. He made me feel comfortable and confident that I was in the best care. I explained to the front desk my fears and why it's been difficult finding a dental provider and the next thing I know she provided me some recommendations for a general dentist. Then they took measures to ensure that insurance covers the majority of the costs. I had no idea I needed a referral but she saved me the heart ache of dealing with the insurance. Do you ever ask yourself what happened to the one owner "mom and pop" dental offices? Well, I ask the question regularly because the corporatized dental offices have lost the "CARE" in customer care. Dr. Hansen is money hungry quoted a price of $225000 for all on 4 and then tried to charge me another $13000 for implants and extractions and everything that was included in the all on 4 price. Also, his business manager, Niva Frank clearly knows nothing about how you submit insurance claims and does not know what codes to use. And Dr. Hansen lied you me saying he did not charge me for a sinus lift but it was on the bill. And Dr Hansen told me that all insurance companies lie to its policy holders telling them that they will cover a procedure then they don't pay. Well, that is because Niva doesn't know how to donit. Wonderful staff, very pleased with our experience. Dr. Was very pleasant, straight to the point and explained everything thoroughly. Such great experience with consult and surgery for my son- I've also scheduled an appointment for myself. Highly recommend this office. I requested letter, itemized receipt etc and everything was taken care of in the moment. My sons consult was scheduled at the end of the day and by the time we were done with our appointment, office was closed and these ladies did not rush us out, they scheduled his procedure right there in there, send his rx request to pharmacy. Usually, you feel rushed or staff is ready to head out the door by end of day ( which it's understandable) but these ladies made us feel Comfortable, and even got my kid to smile. To be honest, I never should have had to see the good doctor if I wasn't not in so much pain and discomfort from a toothache. My teeth and gums disagreed, Dr Hansen has been hands on, providing high end service to his patients, like myself. He pulled three teeth for me in a simple extraction, 2 weeks later I had another wisdom tooth that had needed pulling, working with my dentist, Dr. Hansen has been very fair with his costs, his team of nurses, and office staff are very nice and understanding. Please note that this review is based ONLY on calling them one time to get information. Many decades ago when starting out in the work place, I was told that the Receptionist (which was me) represents the whole company. It's the first person a customer interacts with. I have found this to be true. It's a reflection upon the quality of the business. Because if the management is not pro-active in caring about the person in the front lines, I'm willing to bet the rest of the company is not good either. Today I called to get some information. I wanted to know what types of procedures an oral surgeon does to help someone with TMJ. She explained that everyone is on a case by case basis. Which, I of course know is true. I asked again about the possible options he has to treat a patient with TMJ, keeping in mind that everyone is different. She just repeated the same thing over again. I asked if there was anyone there who could tell me and she assured me that they would just tell me the same thing. BINGO: bright red flag! Then she offered to make an appointment for me. Found Dr. Donovan Hanson from extensively researching oral surgeons online. I've lived in Arizona a year, so I didn't have anyone to refer me. I saw he had 5 stars and took the chance. I'm so glad I did. The office staff are welcoming, professional and kind. The Dr. Did not keep me waiting, came in and explained everything to me. I had 1 impacted wisdom tooth left (had my other 3 out in my 20s, but got dry sockets and decided to wait on my last one) Had my tooth removed yesterday and Dr. Hansen helped me after hours with some discomfort I had. He went out of his way. Its been 24 hours and im just doing ibuprofen for minor pain. I also paid cash, and they were significantly less expensive than the others I called. I came in to get my wisdom teeth pulled about a year ago and the staff at the front desk were very friendly and professional. Dr.Hansen made me feel very comfortable and less anxious about the procedure. All my friends had been telling me how painful it is the following few days after getting their wisdom teeth pulled, however, I felt NO pain. I took off 3 days off work for no reason! Very disappointed in the office of Donavan R. Hansen, Desert Valley Oral Surgery. I was referred to them on an emergency basis after discovering that I had a cyst growing in an root canal and it was becoming very painful. They told me they took my insurance and even gave me an explanation of coding and what I would need to pay. I even gave them a copy of my insurance benefits /Patient Charge schedule, prior to my procedure. I was under the impression everything was covered at least 70% or more per my benefits. Long story short, while the office used the correct code per the American Dental Association, they did not ensure it matched up with my personal insurance benefits and patient charge schedule. I went through two painful appeals before understanding this. All along Dr. Hansen's office telling me it was the insurance company not paying. When if they had used my Insurance pt. charge schedule, they would have seen that the procedures they were wanting to do were not covered. Nor is the Implant I was suppose to get that once again, they told me I was covered. To top it all off. I still have numbness in the lower area of my jaw where the mandibular nerve was scraped in removing the cyst. It's been 6 months now and I am still numb. The business manager and I came to an financial agreement after, arguing my point and them still denying they did not charge according to my personal insurance benefits and patient charge schedule. Such a disappointment! I feel like this office manager and the Provider have little Character and Integrity as they would take no responsibility for this. Only to tell me ( The office Manager) didn't want to be audited because of all the appeals I was putting out. I was also told that they would probably no longer take my Insurance into 2022 as they had such hassles with the insurance paying... No wonder, if they are not charging correctly against the patients dental benefits and patient charge schedule. The insurance has every right not to pay! So I am SOL for my implant as the insurance denied it, as it was never an option on my pt. charge schedule, unlike what I was told at Desert Valley Oral Surgery. I went onto my Cigna portal to leave a review there and they have already removed their names for taking this Insurance. Its horrible that they are doing wrong by their patients/ clients and not accepting responsibility for their actions and error. I give the only 1 star and that is for their receptionist, O., the only bright light out of the whole office. She was empathetic to my situation and held out hope for me. She was friendly and positive! To the rest of the office, it was a very disappointing experience. I do not recommend! read more

GREAT TEAM AND GREAT DR! I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Hanson. He explained before the surgery that it would not be an easy one as the roots of one of my wisdom teeth grew around a nerve. He did an amazing job and didn't damage the nerve. I am less than a week post op and already feeling great. His office staff is very friendly and helped answer all questions I had before and after the surgery. I was a little surprised they didn't have a "triage" line but he does give you his information in case you have any issues and need to get ahold of him after hours. After visiting the endodontist about a tooth that was giving me a lot of pain it was determined the tooth had cracked and would need extraction and referred me to an oral surgeon. This was on a Wednesday and all the oral surgeons I kept calling would not see me until the following week. There was no way I was going to wait five or more days to get this tooth out and was most grateful when Dr. Hansen was able to get me in that same Wednesday and after confirming with his own X-ray it was a bad tooth was able to perform the extraction on the same day. While nice, this individual seems to have a problem with attention to detail. Not only were pieces of teeth left, cutting my wife's tongue, he had also cut too far and caused additional damage that will require more surgery to fix. Stay away! read more

I was sent to Dr. Hansen by my dentist because he was an in network option. When I had my service, I was billed and paid the amount that day. 2 months later I received a bill for an out of network specimen that was sent over. My insurance said that their office could have chosen atleast 3 close by options, but instead of bothering to check, they billed it to an out of network office that looked at the specimen. My insurance also said that not only should they have researched who was in network, they should also tell you if they will be working with someone out of your networks coverage. Either him or his office staff is very dishonest as this mistake or act of laziness will now cost me 216 dollars. read more

I had a problem with an old wisdom tooth and had a bad experience with another dentist in town, so I wanted to find a highly recommended oral surgeon to have a look at my problem. I made an appointment to see Dr. Donovan Hansen after reading online reviews. His office staff is very friendly and the office seems to have all the latest diagnostic equipment (his dental X-ray equipment is really cool)! Dr. Hansen is both very professional and yet personable in his demeanor. After reviewing my X-rays and a quick, but thorough exam of my teeth; confirmed my suspicion that my tooth needed to be removed. His office staff worked quickly to get a total estimate of what the charges would be (including the office visit consultation and X-rays) and then offered to take care of the problem immediately - which I took advantage of. Dr. Hansen gave me instructions on what I would need to do to take care of myself after the procedure and then made sure that I was comfortable and properly numb. He then proceeded to remove the offending tooth in what was only perhaps less than 2 minutes. Everything went so very smoothly and quickly. My visit here in February 2016, was due to an emergency. My wisdom tooth was pulled by dentist - Dr. Abe Miller of Comfort Dental in Mesa. He did a good job but I would not stop bleeding during then night. Dr. Miller suggested and recommended that I go to see Dr. Donovan Hansen. Dr. Hansen was very cordial and let me know that the main reason why the bleeding would not stop was due to my chronic high blood pressure. He did a great job in providing stiches. Although this was quite painful, his attentiveness, his generosity and that of his staff was appreciated. This is why they have high marks. I would definitely recommend them. read more

Started to have a wisdom tooth extracted at another dental office but the dentist couldn't get it out so they started looking for an oral surgeon to do it. Desert Valley took me in at the end of the day on a Friday before labor day. Dr Hansen was very professional, he gave me some options, then explained to me what would happen. Then they put me to sleep and knocked out all 4. I woke up with no pain. I took what they prescribed and haven't had any significant pain yet. He even called to check on me. Great Place.
