She requested for me to text message her so we could schedule an appointment for my mom (I was trying to treat her with a facial for her retirement). I texted her and waited a day for her to respond. We finally set up the appointment for my mom, which was scheduled for this afternoon. After driving from Concord to pick up my mom and then directly to NouVeau Skin Studio (in Vacaville), we were about seven minutes late due to traffic. After parking, I received a text message from NouVeau's owner asking if we were on our way. I texted her saying that we just parked. The doors were locked when we tried to enter the establishment. We knocked on the door twice, but no one responded. I kept texting her, which she read my messages as I sent them (thanks to the read receipts on iPhones), but did not respond. I got her voice message, which said that she planned on leaving if my mom didn't show up within five minutes so she could "run errands". Meanwhile, my mom and I were trying to make sure we were at the correct location since the doors were locked and no one was responding to us. We went around to the salon next door to see if that was the correct location; however, the wonderful person at the salon told us that NouVeau Skin Studio was two doors down (the initial location that we were at). After several text messages trying to get some direction from the owner (who again was still reading my text messages as I sent them), I called her but she didn't answer my call. Eventually, I text her asking to respond so my mom and I can just leave. She responded saying "yes". Honestly, I should've just kept looking for a more professional skin care specialist for my mom's retirement gift. I'm glad that other people had better experiences than I did, but I thought today was completely ridiculous. Zero out of five stars, but unfortunately, Yelp won't allow me to give this much deserved rating.

The best way to describe the experience is a nail salon trying to be a spa. The massage screamed nail salon massage- kinda hurts, kinda all over the place, no technique or real skill. There were weird transitions between the tools used as well. One minute a head scratcher was used, then the facial started, more hair, then facial, then massage... plus the transitions from hot to cold was weird. Steam in the face, then a cod face mask and roller, with a warm eye mask. So weird. The hairspa part was rough. No circular massage or scratching, it was just hair washing and really hard scraping with nails on the scalp. This lasted an hour. Then, I sat awkwardly in front of a mirror while she brushed my tangled half wet hair and blew a blow drier thru it. I have naturally curly hair, so she ran her fingers thru my hair as she blew the hot hair so it made my hair really poofy and wavy. I told her she could stop, so I could manage at home, and she continued. Finally she stopped. At the end, they gave us some tea and she watched as I tried it. Made me question what was in it lol I also paid for an upgrade for scalp analysis, which involved them pulling the camera and looking at my scalp after it was done and she said "see? All clean." Great analysis. The atmosphere was cute. I'm sure they do such a great job with their other services, but if they want to advertise hairspa, they should lean more into the spa piece of it and learn about different types of hair.
